April Newsletter - 2002

April 2002

April was a time of re-building for MPA Motorsports where a number of parts from the car have either been repaired, re-built or both. We plan to have the car back together and back on track for a test day at Oran Park on the 17th of May. During March we have repaired the gearbox, changed the design of the strut tops, re-built the brake callipers with new seals, added a lighter flywheel and had the brake pads re-bonded with new material.

Special thanks must go to Paul at All about gearboxes, Greg and David Nolan of Noltec suspension systems for their on-going support in the suspension set-up, Avian at Race Brakes Australia for sourcing the parts needed for the brake callipers and Phil Rhyall for his help with the new flywheel.

With the next race meeting likely to be in June, the test day in May will be very useful. We will spend the day experimenting with tyre pressures, shock settings and ride heights on the car. Also we plan to try a 14" wheel combination (up from the usual 13" wheels) to assess if there is any benefit running the larger diameter rims. Keep an eye on the latest news page for results of the test day.

Until next month.

Cheers,
Mark Alford.
