February Newsletter - 2002

February - 2002

With February well and truely behind us, and only one week left before the first round the car is nearly ready for action.

The new stickers for the car have been ordered, and will be ready just prior to the race meeting. Our number this year has been changed to #55 to fit in with a new ruling from CAMS that no triple digit numbers are allowed. Also we will be running a small flurescant number on the passenger side of the windscreen this year to make space on the bonnet for advertising.

This year the car will carry signage from PKW (Our major sponsor at this stage), Artmaster signs, Yokohama, DBA rotors, and Bond Roll Bars.

The new flared guards are well into the painting stage, with the fronts completed, and the rears to finished very soon. Although the colour match was not perfect, the car will be fully resprayed at the end of this season.

The braking system has proven to be a real pain. Although it is very good, the front calipers are from a japanese spec 300ZX, and pads are not readily available. This means that I need to have the original pads re-bonded with new pad material. The guys at Race Brakes Australia in Wetheril Park have been extremely helpful with this, but the time delay to have the re-bonding done means that it will have to be done after the First round.

Apart from these small things, the car is booked in for a final Dyno tune prior to the first round, to set the final mixtures for the new engine, now that it has been run in.

February was very busy, but now it is time to enjoy all the work that we have been puting in. With some luck, we may be able to repeat last years performance and finish in the top ten.

Cheers, Mark Alford.
