Social Distortion is an old school punk band that was started in the late 1970s in the Los Angeles scene. Mike Ness originally played only guitar, but took over vocal duties also with the departure of Rikk and Frank Agnew. In 1981, the released Mainliner. They followed up Mainliner in 1982 with the classic Mommy's Little Monster. This release put them into MTV rotation. In 1983, they released the single "1945".
The band disappeared for five years due to the fact of Mike Ness' drug problems. In 1988, Social Distortion released Prison Bound.
Social Distortion then signed a deal with a major label, Epic. In 1990, Social Distortion released their self titled CD. In 1992 came Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell. In 1996, white Light, White Heat, White Trash again put the band into MTV rotation. In 1998, Social Distortion finally released a live album called Live at the Roxy.
Most recently, Mike Ness has released a solo album called Cheating at Solataire most recently.
