BGiME team joins up with White Dwarf - MOD-Khamul Of The Nine (Steve) mailto:shammatt@hotmail.com?subject=BGiME team joins up with White Dwarf

Two of the GW team behind Battle Games in Middle-earth magazine have joined forces with White Dwarf, now that their work on BGiME is done (BGiME finishes at issue 91, and that issue was completeted some time ago).

Mark Latham and Glenn More are now part of the Studio team behind White Dwarf (as can be seen in the credits on the inside front cover of UK WD 316).

Hopefully this will mean good things for future LOTR content in White Dwarf.

Khamul/Steve.

That is good news especially after recieving UKWD615 this morning and its lack of LOTR content - worst ever! 3 pages of Rohan heroe models to look at and 4 pages of themed armies again, total read time 5 minutes.

That's great news. The BGiME people really know what LOTR fans want from the hobby. I got WD 315 on Wednesday(i know 316 is out now) and found that indeed i did read the lotr section in about 10 minutes. The only interesting section for me was Adam Troke's Cirith Ungol themed army, which was brilliant by the way Adam, as the other sections about Khand are not my favourite cup of tea when it comes to the lotr (Like the SotS before it). This however im not going to complain about, as WD should focus on the recent models/releases for the game anyway, and when something like FotN is relesed, which does interest me, im sure i'll get more "value" out of my LOTR WD section.
Hopefully the new BGiME WD people will erge the lotr section of WD to become more structured like BGiME magazine was, or maybe even exactly structured like BGiME magazine was, in the future. That would make me want to buy WD every month!

It's nice to see that the 'powers that be' over at White Dwarf had the good sense not to let this opportunity pass. What these guys did in BGiME greatly surpassed anything done for Lord of the Rings in White Dwarf.

I may just re-subscribe. I let my subscribtion lapse so that I could be a bit more picky when it came to which issues I bought, however I do miss having it delivered.

This really is the last chance for me. My sub is up soon, and I have ranted on at length on the WD forum about quality enough for them to get the picture. If The Boys From BGimE can't pull things round then my sub will be going the way of hithero's and Parkingtigers' There's no point IMHO buying a mag that doesn't actually support the game you play! If I just wanted to see pictures of minis I could browse through the net, and buy the anual catalogue. There's no point paying for the privelege every month!

Frankly for an international gaming company producing the most popular miniature games in the world WD has become an embarassment!

I think they should call it "LotR picture book for 2-5 years old, Warhammer and 40K for teenagers"

...Well, this is good news as I rarely find much content in WD. Where I live, there are about...1-4 people are in the store on LotR night/day, but when it is time for 40k or Fantasy, the store is packed. Also with 7 days of the week, one is devoted to LotR and the others are devoted to Warhammer.

So sad...

I definately think WD needs a bit more - at the moment it's marginally better than a catalogue. Assuming we get paint and terrain guides at the same quality of recent BGiME packs, I'm all for it!
By the way hithero, I wish I had WD 615 like you. Can I borrow your time machine please?
