Posting Pictures! |
So you have tried, and failed to post a photo on a forum etc. |
A 'photo' must first be stored online. This can be anywhere that allows a different host to view the files. For example, if I tried to post the links to these photos on a forum, they would not work, as the host I use 'Angelfire' blocks this. So I must use a host that does e.g Photobucket |
Assuming you have a digital image stored somewhere, and the desktop (your monitor screen) is the best place to put it so you do not lose it, you will need to upload it to somewhere on the internet that will allow another host to view it. The server (computer) that hosts the forum for instance. Photobucket is one such host, so I will attempt to show you by pictures. I have 'taken' these pictures by pressing 'print scrn' on my keyboard, which saves my monitor image on my computer. |
So you need to click this link http://photobucket.com/ which should open your browser with this webpage. |
Click the link marked by the arrow to signup. |
The next page will be the signup page. |
You are required to fill in all the boxes marked with an * |
When you have filled in the security text and numbers, and clicked continue, you will see this page. Fill it in with the new username and password you have just chosen. If you have forgotten already, as I did, you can ask for them to be sent by email to the address you have entered. |
When you have logged in you will see this page. |
I have saved an image on my desktop to upload. It is simple to copy your own image here. |
Click the browse button. |
A new window will open. I have a relatively old computer (how can only 6 years be old) so am still using Windows 98. Your view may be slightly different, depending which computer you are using. Select desktop, and then the image you want to upload. If you have stored your image in a folder, select that folder, then the image. |
The path of the address should now be in the box next to the browse button. Press Submit, and your image should be uploaded to Photobucket. |
You should now find your image is displayed, with 3 boxes below. |
The address in the lower window must be copied, or written EXACTLY the same into your new post, where you want to display the image. On a forum for example. If you click the edit button above the photo, you can resize it, so it isn't too wide for the forum window, and requires horizontal scrolling. |
Congratulations. You will now have the picture in your post on the forum. |
You may like to have a read of my boating adventures, and misadventures. |
