Name: Sid Wilson
Slipknot: Turntables
About
A drily sarcastic DJ, Sid wears a gas mask, suffers from 'organic syndrome', and
maintains a rivalry with clown-masked percussionist Shawn. Violence often insues.
On a Howard Stern show, Sid wanked in the corner of the room.
Quote
"Wearing the mask prevents the oxygen going to my skull. I get hallucinations and
stuff. Half the time, I don't know what's going on around me. It's up to the clown to
intimidate me and keep me in line."

Name: Joey Jordison
Slipknot: Drums
About
A talkative, diminutive lead drummer, Joey has long black hair with vivid red-steaks, and wears a plain white, expressionaless Japanese kabuki mask
"The blank expression suits me. Just don't call us a 'pro wrestling' band - I'm short and I can't wrestle!"
Lovingly refers to Slipknot fans as "maggots".
Quote
"Ross (Robinson) is insane! Once when we were recording here he threw a potted plant at me.
It exploded on the wall all over my head and the dirt went in my mouth. It was awesome!"
"When I first came into the band I was like, 'I have to be either in this band or I have to destroy it because it's so good'"
|
Joey says he chose Number 1 because : "Well it works for me because it's kind of a pivotal thing for being in the bands like have to
lay all the drums and guitar work. I'm always the person that has to lay something down or be
the cement of the band. That's where the 1 thing came from for me."
And on his mask .. "I didn't want to be just held down by one thing, I wanted to keep the
whole thing like all options open. Like it's not something you can be held down to. It can be
beautiful, it can be ugly, it can be disgusting, it can be all those things. Right now it's
got like weird looking scars on it and shit. I'm marketing it up a lot different so it doesn't
necessarily look the same. It's cool man I just want people to get out of it what they want."

Name: Paul Gray
Slipknot: Bass
About
Paul is the co-founder of Slipknot with Shawn. He says the pig face mask he wears relates to his indulgent personaility.
Quote
"When we go to radio stations for interviews, we wear the masks and never fail to freak people out. Are the masks a fetish thing? I'm definitely into that stuff. Des Moines certainly has more than its fair share of freaks!"

Name: Chris Fehn
Slipknot: Percussion
About
Softly-spoken, Chris is the self confessed joker of the band, and wears a preposterous white Pinocchio mask. Chris was influenced by classic metal drummers like Igor Cavalera and Dave Lombardo. Chris also claims to have seen UFOs at Indigo Ranch.
Quote
"This mask reflects my comic personality. Plus I chose it for the bondage factor. When you
put it on, it takes you to another place. It's very hot, it's very tight and it hurts - and that
goes along with the aggression we create."

Name: James Root
Slipknot: Guitar
About
The new lunatic on the block. James joined Slipknot during recording of the record, and was forced by his bandmates to wear a stifling bondage hood. James claims that being a member of Slipknot has changed his attitude towards 'right' and 'wrong'.
When asked about his mask, James says "I've puked through it a few times. It's got boogers stuck in it and my roommates are pissed at me because it stinks up the whole house."
Quote
"The guys chose this mask to tame me. Joining this band takes a little getting used to. I was a timid guy before I joined them. Now I'm a freak! Am I as borderline psychotic as the rest? Ask me in a month!"

Name: Craig Jones
Slipknot: Sampler
About
A sensitive sound-effects man. Craig originally joined the band as a guitarist, and is imprisoned inside a weighty diver's helmet crowned in nails. Craig often leaves concerts early to maintain his anonymity. He feels alienated and alone since noone comes near him when he's head banging.
Quote
"Sometimes when we're working our way up on stage, we'll shove our way through the crowd.
When people see me coming they mostly get out of the way. But sometimes they don't..."

Name: Shawn Crahan
Slipknot: Percussion
About
A jack-of-all-trades drummer and co-founder of Slipknot. Shawn was a welder before joining the band. He is an admirer of painters Cezanne and Picasso, and has a drumkit made from titanium, the same material as the Nasa Space Shuttle.
"I've wanted to be a clown because there's something pretty nice about me and something
pretty twisted as well. If someone stares at me on my way to the stage, I don't get up until they
look away first."
Shawn has twice cut his forehead during the same song, and has suffered countless other injuries during performances, but insists on continuing. "I've always believed that brutality balances you out. It's not fun unless someone gets hurt. I don't want any of my kids getting hurt out there so, fucking better beat me. I'm so into it I don't give a fuck."
|
On a Howard Stern show, Shawn crapped in a bucket and gave it to him as a momento of their visit.
Shawn's influences include Kiss and Motley Crue. "I play drums because of Peter Criss (Kiss). My first album was "Dynasty". And my very first big rock show was Kiss. Changed my live forever."
Quote
"Brutality balances you out. I'm coming to fucking kill you."

Fish and Ed Gein spring to mind. But I'm not a violent person by nature. Don't fuck with me, and you'll be fine."
"Sometimes I dont want to play I just want to kill people."
"I find all religions to be completely fucking retarded."

Name: Corey Taylor
Slipknot: Vocals
About:
Corey is the alarmingly hypnotic frontman. He worked in a porno shop in hometown of Des Moines before joining
the band. He wears a truly disturbing 'leatherface' mask with dreads made from his real hair, and screams out such lyrics as "You can't see California without Marlon Brando's eyes!"
Corey is formerly the front man of Iowa band "Stone Sour", and prefers the first name "Faith".
Quote
"We aren't hiding behind these masks, we're actually revealing more to you than you might think. The mask I wear brings out all the shit inside me that I hate. Plus it hurts like hell, which helps my intensity."
