SERMON: MISSING EGYPT Part II: Great Deliverance

INTRODUCTION: STORY: A little girl wakes up, gets up and runs to her dads mat where he sleeps - hoping, hoping - nearing the mat she see’s its empty. Hes not there again. Tears well, up in her eyes. Her mother is behind her now. “Naomi” her mother calls softly, “everything o.k.?” “Mom” the little girl says with quivering lip “I miss daddy”. Mom picks up her now crying baby boy “I know honey” . “why?” asks the little girl “why do they make us work so hard?, why don’t the Egyptians like us?” Mom returns with as much a smile as she can muster “They need to have theyre buildings and they think we’re too different” Mom pauses, then with a new idea says” Tonight when dad gets back from working, I’ll get you up to say hi!, O.K.?!” “Yeah, sure mom” says Naomi wiping her tears. Changing her thoughts, Naomi asks “How come everyone talking about that Moses man?” Mom replies with mixed emotions “ Because he’s a troublemaker!” “Whats he doing” Naomi wonders. “Well because of his upsetting Pharoah, they increased your dads work!” Mom replies with some anger. “How Come” Naomi pushes. Mom with a bit of anger, amusement, and even hope says “Something about outdoing Pharoahs magicians with blood and water and demanding to free us in the name of God” “Free us!” the little girl brightened “Can God do that?” “God can if He cares, but Moses can’t” mom says doubting. “But couldn’t God use Moses?” Naomi replies innocently. Mom weighs the thought - “ Perhaps. If God cares. Why would He? But Moses will certainly need Him with the boasting he’s been doing!” “Whats boasting?”Naomi responds inquisitively. Mom explains “Its saying you will do very impressive things, even powerful, I guess he has outdone the sorcerers?, Anyway for example, Moses says there will be more plagues on Egypt if we’re not freed, something about swarms of...what was it...” Mom is cut off in her thought as her daughter points out the window towards Egypt and exclaims “Mom Look!” Mom looks to see Moses with his staff raised above his head and what looks like a few lizards walking from him towards Egypt, but its not lizards, its frogs and not some, but now 1000’s, now millions, all going away from Moses, and them, towards Egypt! Mom whispers “Impossible!” Naomi adds with hope “ not if God Cares!” TRANSITIONAL STATEMENT: We’re to do to those about us as God has done for us and still does! We’re to be Moses! Jesus to the World, for it was at great cost! Will you say Here am I? Last week we left Egypt. This week we go back in!! 3. GREAT-DELIVERANCE A) REMINDER - of how Gos used Moses... Ex3:4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. From this, simple response of Moses came about this... Exodus - The Great Deliverance Exodus 7-12 7:20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. 8:6 And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt. 8:17 And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt. 8:24 And the LORD did so; and there came a grievous swarm of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and intohis servants' houses, and into all the land of Egypt: the land was corrupted by reason of the swarm of flies. 9:6 And the LORD did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died 9:10 And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast. 9:23 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt. 10:14 And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such. 10:22 And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days: 12:29 And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. This is the great deliverance these Israelites were not satisfied with! This is the freedom cost that they wanted to ignore! This is the captors they wanted to return to! The Egypt they missed! What about us, now! Ever feel the same? What was our great deliverance? And as they focused on Egypt and God, on 2 masters they , of course even gave second thought to others who were still in bondage! b)Now!- Lets be reminded how God used Jesus. How can we focus on the dying around us while we’re not sure of what we truly want now? We need to focus for our selves, brothers and the lost outside our door! John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man ent er in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. Luke 23:44-46 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. 45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. 46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he died.! JESUS=FREEDOM!!Jesus Paid The cost of Freedom!! Sound Familiar? Israelites had a great deliverance And Ours Was similar,it was dark, but the firstborn Son to die this time was not Pharoahs or anyone elses! This time it was God’s! This - is - your - Freedom! Is it gonna stay that way? Or will you let God do some more? Yes More!! There are still messes we get ourselves into, even though we know better, there are still “Red Seas” in your path and Pharoahs chasing you, you still need Gods deliverance! And will you share it!! Or is it yours alone?! Walk in it! Say goodbye to Egypt in its bondage, and now in the power of the Holy Spirit, like Moses, Go back there and bring God’s Great Deliverance! “Satan, Let Gods people GO!!!” Do you see the dying that way? or are they too evil, too ugly, too poor, too different?! Side Note:(And there are “free” christians who have the choice to go and worship God and choose other events, get togethers instead! He moved not only mountains, but the World for you to come to church, priority - Maybe?) Are you free? Are you sharing the key? Are you participating in His great Deliverance? Are you letting God use you like Moses? Are you bringing others to it? B) WAR! John 10: 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Going back ain’t easy and is scary, but its needed! ( My sister called... ) No more playing the enemies game, attack in the freedom and power that is yours! Say no more to the sins that destroy! Draw the line in the sand! This Means War!! We’ve got enough casualties! We;ve lost enough ground! Lets bring the power and love of our God’s Great Deliverance to the now!! No Egypt nor Sea nor Devil can stop us! God is saying let my people Go! To come and worship Me! Let us bring as many as we can! God is calling His church out from the world, no more compromise, no more gray area stuff, no more “o, you of little faith” Push it to the limit! No more giving in to sin and let it dictate our soul! God wants His bride to purify herself, even in North America!! He wants her to conquer Egypt and leave the chains behind but never the prisoners! Focus on those who haven’t been freed yet! Will we? - Will you? TEXT: Isiah 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? I Cor 5:7b “. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:Our Deliverer has given us theMission! For how can we set others free without being fully free ourselves?! Are you grateful for your freedom? Using it? Are you sharing your great deliverence with other captives? Are you making the price for your freedom worthwhile?! Pray - Stand - Communion - Alter call: Lord Prepare Me 2.REMINDER!
