Trade talks, again
In
the wake of the teams 19th loss of this very young MLB season,
Chuck Lamar(General Manager of the
TB Devil Rays) is putting the veterans on alert that he is
looking to trade them as soon as possible.
In all the players frustrations of not being able to perform
up to their potential and gel together well
as a team...they now have to worry about getting axed
if they are not playing well enough to be traded.
STAY TUNED.

Rays Win! Rays Win! Rays Win!
In
this afternoons contest the Devil Rays scored a run
beginning in the 1st inn. via Gerald Williams.
At the top of the 4th inn. the Rays went on a tear
running their score from 3 runs up to 7 runs( 3 rbi's
came from a Gerald Williams double down right
field which cleared the bases). The pitching
combination was effective enough to keep the Rays
in a comfortable lead and eventually get the
win , 7-3.
Gerald's Play
Gerald
Williams had a very productive day as he singled to right field,
doubled twice,
two BB's(base on ball or walked), had two stolen bases.
three rbi's, and scored two runs.
APRIL 27, 2001
The game will simulcast on 970 WFLA-AM and WMOR-TV32(local channel) at 7:15pm.
Gerald's Play

Devil Rays Saga
The
team is for sale but the managing partner, Vince Naimoli will remain
a figure head for the club as ownership
switches hands. If the team will stay in St. Petersburg,
Fl remains to be seen. The city has a 30 year lease of
Tropicana Field with the TB Devil Rays, the team
is in their 4th year of the lease, but the new owners may want
a new stadium or want to relocate altogether. Stay
Tuned.

Rays Win, Again!
The Devil Rays are on a two game winning streak and have won the series vs. the KC Royals with their 5-3 win in tonight's game. Let's hope that the team can extend the streak by winning tomorrow's afternoon game thereby sweeping the Royals.
Gerald's Play
In tonight's game Gerald walked and went 0-4 at bat, but his defense helped the Rays maintain their lead through out the game.

Rays Win! Rays Win! Rays Win!
In
tonights game Gerald Williams was hot at the bat going 3 for
3 hitting a 2 run home run and
singling twice. Along with Greg Vaughn's 2 run home run, the
two comprised the Devil Rays score
in the win of 4 - 2 over the KC Royals.

Rumors continue
Gerald
Williams and Albie Lopez are likely to be the most sought-after,
but the Rays probably would
entertain all offers, seeking deals that allow them to make
the team younger and less expensive.
Nail Biter
Today's
game was Great ! It Kept you on the edge of your seat....Too
Bad the Rays didn't win in this game
that lasted into the bottom of 11th inning.
The final score was Orioles-10 v. Rays-8.
Gerald's Play
Today
Gerald could only muster up a single in the game.
APRIL 21, 2001

In
an effort to alot the bench players time on the field, Hal

instead of Gerald Williams today.
The Rays break their 5 game losing streak!
Much
to the delight of Gerald Williams fans, he entered the game
to pinch run for Ben Grieve in the bottom of the
7th inning but was unable to produce because Jose Guillen
struck out. In the top of the 8th inning Gerald
replaced Randy Winn in centerfield as Winn moved to left
field.

Gerald's play
In
tonight's game Gerald Williams singled and the rest was an
ugly bout with outs. He went
1 for 4 at bat.

than the team.
APRIL 19, 2001
Today's game will be simulcast on 970 WFLA-AM and WMOR-TV32(local station) at 7:15pm.
Gerald's Play
Tonight
Gerald Williams hit a single into left field and later scored
a run when Greg Vaughn singled
him home. He also made a spectacular play in between left and
centerfield as he and Ben Grieve
criss-crossed he made the catch for the out. In the 7th
inning Gerald got on base by taking a hit on
his left forearm, but the Rays were unable to get
him home to score. Although the Rays lost the
game against Pedro Martinez and the BOSox, they
showed promise by connecting
with 9 hits off his pitching.
APRIL 18, 2001

Rothschild FIRED, McCrae HIRED!
In
the wake of the termination of Larry Rothschild and the announcement
of the New Manager, Hal Mc Crae,
It has been reported that Gerald Williams has reported
Late today for a team meeting and preparation for
tonights game. Persons in the Bay area are
talking about Gerald Williams being the cancer on the team
and
calling for him to be released. Stay tuned.
Gerald's Play
Tonight
Gerald Williams showed signs of his productive self as he singled
twice, once to right field and the
second to centerfield. Also, he stole 2nd base twice in the
game.

Gerald
Williams performed well today as he started the game with a
double and later scored in the first inn
ing on a Greg Vaughn home run. Later in the
game Gerald RBI singled John Flaherty into home for the
7th
run of the game.
APRIL 14, 2001
The
game will be simulcast on 970 WFLA-AM and FOX SPORTS NETWORK( ch.
69-tw cable) at 1:35pm.
Disappointing Day
The
Rays suffered a disappointing loss that came at the hands of their
own pitching staff. The team took
an early lead in the game and was winning 0-4 til the bottom
of the 4th inning where the pitching fell apart
allowing the Orioles to get unearned runs from
pitching mistakes. It was evident that things were going
south when the pitcher walked a man and then gave
up a single putting men on first and second bases.
That should had alerted management to make a pitching
change but that wasn't decided until the pitcher
allowed the Orioles to tie the game 4-4, with the bases
loaded. Needless to say, this inning aided the Orioles
in getting the win because their offense wasn't on point.
The relief pitcher allowed 2 more runs before he
was replaced by yet another pitcher. It wasn't a good
day. The final score was Orioles -6 v. Rays-5.
This should have been another Rays win.
Gerald's Play
In
today's game Gerald walked and scored a run off of Russ Johnson's
home run. Later he doubled to left
field and stole 3rd base but he was stranded there.
APRIL 13, 2001
Todays
contest will be simulcast on 970 WFLA-AM and WMOR-TV 32
at 7:05pm.
RAYS COLLECT SECOND CONSECUTIVE WIN!
Rays- 2 v. Orioles-0.
In
tonight's game, Gerald Williams couldn't get his offensive
game going but he came defensively
prepared as he made two catches that kept the Balt Orioles
from scoring and aided Albie Lopez in his
first 3 hit shut out game for this season. The first
catch that he made was one that looked to go over his head,
but he adjusted in time and caught it. It would have
been a double for the Orioles if he hadn't. The next
defensive
catch he made was one for the high light reels. Gerald
Williams and Greg Vaughn both were running for the
ball and Gerald was screaming, "I got it!", when
the two criss-crossed in front of one another, nearly
colliding.
Everyone in attendance paused as Gerald smiled and
opened his glove to reveal that he caught the ball.
APRIL 12, 2001
The Devil Rays have the day off, while they are preparing to take on the Balt-Orioles tomorrow.
WFLA-radio(RaysRadio)
has stopped webcasting momentarily while they are trying to
sort out their
rights to broadcast on the internet. Therefore,
Devil Rays games CANNOT be heard on the web
UNLESS you subscribe to MLBradio for $9.95.
From the Rumor Mill
Sports
radio is talking about how the Devil Rays should release
Gerald Williams for his insubordination
towards Larry Rothschild last week. With Gerald
being one of the more productive players on the
team, it would be a dumb move on the part of the DRO.
Stay tuned.
APRIL 11, 2001
Today's
Rays game can be heard on Raysradio 970 WFLA, only. The game will
not be televised.
RAYS WIN! RAYS WIN! RAYS WIN!
The
Rays continue their upward trend tonight as they came from behind
3-0 to beat the Toronto
Blue Jays, 4-3. In tonight's contest,
Gerald Williams walked after 4 pitches in the sixth inning
and
later scored a run off of a Fred McGriff's single
into right field. This was the beginning of their come
from behind victory.
APRIL 10, 2001
The
Rays game will simulcast on Raysradio webcast and WMOR-TV
32(local channel) at 7:05pm.
Gerald's Play
In
tonight's game the Devil Rays looked to have woken up offensively.
Gerald Williams went 2 H/4 AB.
Twice he had gotten into scoring position. At one point
he doubled into centerfield and his next at bat he
chopped the ball over the pitchers head to second,
to get on first safe. He then stole second base
when he worried Carpenter(Tor BJ-p) into making
an errant throw that the catcher couldn't catch.
No one could effectively bat to get him home in two tries.
Tonight's loss to the Rays didn't come
as a result of their "tired" play(as it did in
previous games). Hopefully they can pull a win out of
tomorrow's game to continue the upward trend in play.
Rothschild Holds a grudge
In
Response to last night's game where 3B Vinny Castilla committed
two of his 3 errors( team high)
and Gerald Williams committed one, Larry Rothschild was quoted as
saying, " I don't think they're
concentrating as much...I think some of them might
look like it. In the outfield, I don't think they are."
This shows you that Rothschild is still upset
with Gerald Williams. Will this(the bad feelings
between them)ever end.
APRIL 9, 2001
The Rays game simulcast on Raysradio webcast and WMOR-TV 32(local channel) at 7:05pm.
BREAKING NEWS:
The Devil Rays have Designated (FIRED, in laymen's terms)Bobby
Smith.
They have 10 days to trade, release, or place
waivers on him. This move comes in the middle of
their
10-game road trip, and it is RUMORED that Gerald Williams
will be next to be pink slipped.
Gerald's Play
In
Tonights game Gerald Williams hit a double to the center
and scored a run off of Steve Cox's single.
Which happened to be the only run scored by the Rays
in the game. Earlier in the game, Gerald made an
error when he reached for what looked like a routine
catch in center, and the ball bounced off the tip of
his glove. He has had better days. I hope that
he and his team mates can overcome this slump and start
racking up some wins.
APRIL 8, 2001
The
Rays game will be simulcasting on Raysradio webcast and WMOR-TV
32(local channel)
at 1:05pm.
Gerald Williams RETURNED today in the starting lineup and although he directed traffic in the outfield very well and played a good defensive game, along with Felix Martinez, he and the rest of the team couldn't get their offensive game going and suffered a sweep at the hands of the BoSox.
As
for the disciplinary action that was issued against him being resolved,
Gerald was quoted as saying," I would hope so... from my
side, it is."
