But I Want To
Part 1 in the Sav & Mindee Saga

But I Want To

Chapter 1

This story is completely fictional and is based upon a song that does not belong to me. As a matter of fact, there are many songs in this story that are works of various artists. If you would like information on any of the songs, please contact me at Kimmi@rockparadise.us and I’ll be happy to pass it along. Enjoy!!

The airport was hectic as usual. They stopped for the occasional photo and autograph as they made their way to the van. One by one, they loaded their things into the back and piled into their seats.

Anita opted to accompany Phil, as did Bobbi with Joe. Jewels and Lauren stayed behind to shop in LA. And Sav… was alone. Utterly alone. As alone as a man could be.

“I can’t wait to get this over with.” He sighed as he looked out the window.

“It’s not so bad. At least it’s cool.” Joe offered.

“Beats the hell out of the heat in the south.” Phil followed as Malvin flipped through the channels of the radio, landing on a country station.

“Oh please! As if it’s not bad enough!” Sav huffed. “Last thing I need is a ‘Tear in My Beer’.”

“Turn that hick shit off!” Phil yelled.

“I didn’t think we were in Arkansas!” Joe howled.

“There!” Malvin chose a classic rock station. “Happy?”

“Yes!” They all yelled.

Mindee Thompson quietly rode in the van, along with her band. She sighed as she looked out the window. “Why does it have to be so cold?” Her thick southern drawl accented every word.

“You’re just used to the Mississippi swamp, Min. It’s pretty nice.” Todd, her manager spoke from the front seat.

“Hey T, can you find some tunes?” Charlie, her guitar player, yelled out.

Todd pressed a button and jumped back as a rock station blared through the speakers.

“Turn that shit off!” Randy, her drummer, howled.

“You can’t understand a damned word they’re singin’ anyway!” Trey, her keyboardist followed.

They all calmed down as Todd found a nice country station.

“Rock music has no soul.” Mindee mumbled as she returned to her sightseeing.

The Leps walked into their hotel and waited. They again signed autographs and spoke to a few fans as Malvin checked them in. He handed out keys as he spoke to his boys. “Just found out that there’s a country music festival called “Pride of America” that parallels ours tomorrow. There shouldn’t be any problems, but you never know. The hotel is packed.”

“Explains the birds with the tight jeans on in the bar.” Joe wiggled his eyebrows.

“Oh, yeah.” Phil smiled as he noticed one walking through the front door.

She had on a black tank top and tight jeans. Her sunglasses covered her eyes, but he could tell they were dark. And her long, brown hair was pulled up into a clip.

“She’s here!” Girls screeched from every direction as they surrounded the gorgeous…

Phil’s droolings were interrupted by his wife’s cough. He smiled and held his hand out for her. “Shall we?”

“Who is that?” Sav whispered to Joe.

“No ideer, mate.” He licked his lips.

“Hi.” Mindee smiled, as she obliged her fans with autographs and photos. She looked around and caught the stare of those gorgeous blue eyes. Without missing a beat, she pushed her sunglasses up to rest on her head and continued before her manager whisked her away.

She took one last glance at those blue eyes and smiled as she stepped onto the elevator. “Who was that?” She whispered.

“Not sure.” Todd smiled.

But I Want To

Chapter 2

“I can’t wait for the show tomorrow night. Thanks for havin’ me on.” Mindee spoke before hanging up the telephone. She sighed as she plopped back onto her bed and stared at the ceiling. Visions of those blue eyes and… let’s face it, that handsome body filled her mind. She bit her lip as a thought crossed her mind. She smiled as she dialed.

“Hello?”

“Hey, Todd? Can you do some snoopin’ for me?” She curled the cord to the phone around her finger and waited.

“The guy in the lobby?”

“Please? I’d just really like to know who he was.”

“I’m on it.”

“Thank you!” She squealed as she hung up the phone and jumped up and down on her bed.

“Thanks for your time.” The magazine journalist shook Joe and Sav’s hands.

“Any time, mate.” Joe nodded as he followed him out the door.

Sav held back until he knew that Joe was out of earshot. “Aye, Mal?”

“Yes, lad?”

“Any ideer who the lass with the entourage was down in the lobby earlier?”

“Not a clue, mate.”

“Think you could find out for me?” He asked shyly.

Malvin smiled at him. “Sure, Sav. Give me a few.”

“Thanks!” He patted his back before rushing down to his room.

Mindee jumped when her phone rang. She answered after the first. “Yeah?”

“Def Leppard. They’re playing the “Rock Fest” across town.”

“I take it there’s a website?”

“Of course.”

“That’s all I need to know! Thanks Toodles!” She sang as she hung up and dove for her palm pilot.

Sav jumped up when there was a knock at his door. He opened it to see Malvin standing there with a laptop in his arms. He turned it around to reveal a huge screen shot of Mindee. “Here’s her website. Enjoy.”

Without a word, he took the computer and closed the door.

Mindee was so engrossed in her research that she didn’t realize the phone was ringing. She finally answered it. “Yeah?”

“There is a huge crown of fans down here at the bar.” Charlie yelled over the phone. “It would be great for you to make an appearance before your 10:30 interview.”

“Okay, I’ll freshen up and be down in two shakes.”

“Cool! See ya, Min!”

Ah, there it was. Bio. Brown eyes, brown hair, 34 years old, single… perfect. The phone rang, interrupting his research. “What?”

“Did I interrupt a wank?” Vivian smarted.

“Just about.” He laughed it off. “What’s up?”

“There’s a nice crowd at the bar. This Mindee Thompson chick’s gonna do a song for her fans. You should check her out, she’s completely hot.”

“I’m there.” He quickly hung up the phone and ran out of the room. Once in the elevator he realized that he had left his key in his room, but he’d have to worry about that later.

He made it to the bar in time to hear guitars being tuned. There she was, with an acoustic, sitting front and center. Her guitarist had an acoustic, her keyboardist was at the baby grand, and the others in her band were sitting behind them.

“Howdy, y’all.” She grinned as she spoke into the microphone. “I don’t have much time, but I’d like to thank you all for comin’ to see us tonight, so I thought we’d play a song from the new album. It’s kind of an exclusive, since we won’t be doin’ it tomorrow night. It’s called ‘Unknown’.”

Sav watched as she nodded to Charlie and began to play. Wow, a girl who could actually play! And better than Joe! He crossed his arms and leaned against the bar next to Vivian.

Her voice was milky and sweet, very soft. It was a slower song, but not a ballad. “’Fire and Rain’ is my favorite song… I say a prayer at 11:11… I could watch old movies all night long… I’m not sure there’s a hell, but I know there’s a heaven… Sometimes I feel so alone it scares me… I talk in my sleep, but there’s no one to hear me… Unknown… I don’t wanna be unknown… The little things that make me who I am… I need to share… I need to know… That someone cares… That I drink coffee black… That I sing when I drive… That I sleep with the TV on… More than anything… I don’t wanna be unknown…”

“Wow. That’s deep.” Vivian whispered to Sav.

“She sings with her soul.” He commented as she continued.

“I love September when leaves turn gold… I get nervous in crowded places… Someday I wanna see San Francisco… I’m bad with names, but remember faces… I need more than a kiss, more than a lover… I’m a world that’s just waiting to be discovered… Unknown… I don’t wanna be unknown… The little things that make me who I am… I need to share… I need to know… That someone cares… That I write down my dreams… That I love when it rains… I burn candles when I’m alone… More than anything… I don’t wanna be unknown… More than anything… No one wants to be unknown…”

She finished to thunderous applause. “Thank you.” She grinned as she handed her guitar to Charlie. “Thank you so much. I’ll see all y’all tomorrow.” She winked as Todd escorted her through the crowd. She caught a figure out of the corner of her eye and turned to see him. She slowed down and made eye contact, but was grabbed by the wrist.

“C’mon, Min. We’re late.” Todd pulled her away.

She sighed and followed him as Sav watched her walk off. He sighed and took a seat at the bar.

But I Want To

Chapter 3

Love bites, love bleeds… It's bringin' me to my knees… Love lives, love dies… It's no surprise… Love begs, love pleads… It's what I need…”

“That good?” Joe spoke over the microphone to the sound tech.

“Let’s get a test from Sav.” He spoke back.

“I don’t wanna touch you too much baby… Cause makin’ love to you might drive me crazy…” He sang a few bars and then stopped.

“Much better.”

Mindee’s heart pounded in her chest as she watched from the floor. God, those words were about to melt her. From a rock band? Or was it just the one voice? “And what time do they go on tonight?” She asked the assistant.

“Um… 9:30.”

“The same time Travis goes on.” Todd reminded her.

“Who… oh, Travis.” She rolled her eyes. “Yeah.”

On the way back to the hotel from sound check, Joe took control of the radio. He flipped and flipped, trying to find a rock station that was playing a song that he liked. He stopped as they hit a bump.

“Here’s a new one from Min…” He resumed turning the channels.

“Turn it back!” Sav sat up.

“Huh?” everyone turned around to look at him.

Joe pressed the button and then sat back as the song played. “I guess we guess our way through life… How many times do we really know for sure… I was just hopin’ for the best… Then I woke up in those lovin’ arms of yours… And what I felt… Was unmistakable…  When I fell for you…”

“Oh yeah, he’s lost it.” Phil rolled his eyes.

“I kinda like it.” Rick shrugged his shoulders.

“It was real… It was magic… It was calm… It was savage…”

Joe rolled his eyes. He’d love the song no matter what, now.

“It was cool as a breeze… It was warm to the touch… It was never enough… It was always too muck… It did all the things love does… And that’s how I knew it was…”

Mindee waited in the van for the rest of her crew after sound check. She turned the key and searched the radio until she found… “I gotta know tonight… If you’re alone tonight… Can’t stop this feelin’… Can’t stop this fire…”

“What the hell?” Randy frowned.

“What’s up with that shit, Min?” Trey asked.

“I kinda like it.” She defended herself.

“We have got to get you back south!” Charlie laughed.

But I Want To

Chapter 4

“So, are you ladies going to ‘Pride of America’?” Sav spoke to a few fans.

“We didn’t know that Rock Fest was the same day.” One scrunched her nose.

“What times does it begin?”

“2:00. Travis Tritt doesn’t go on until 9:30, though.”

“Yeah, and Mindee Thompson goes on at 6:30. I can’t wait to see her.”

“Cool.” He smiled his heart-stopping grin. “Enjoy your day.” He walked off toward the elevator.

“Thank you so much.” Mindee took her backstage pass from the DJ. “I really appreciate this.”

“So you’re a rock fan?”

“Uh… not really. But I thought I’d check it out.”

“Well, you’re in for a real treat.” He looked her over. “So, what are you doing later?”

“Interviews and an early leave. We’re playin’ again tomorrow night about 300 miles down the road.” She was good at coming up with excuses.

“Bummer. Well, I hope to see you at the show.”

“You too. And thanks again.” She waved her pass as she walked toward the elevator.

“Yeah?” Malvin answered his door.

“What time is the fan meeting thing?” Sav asked.

“7:30. Why? Gotta date?”

He smiled. “Not exactly. But I may be late.”

“Shall I cover for you?”

“Yes, please.”

“Done. Ave fun.”

He only raised his eyebrows, sighed, and walked off.

Mindee went on that night wearing a lacy camisole and short, black skirt. Her hair flowed down her back as the slight breeze blew it away from her face.

She had gone through two songs when she glanced up at stage right. She smiled at the extreme irony as she went into one of her favorite songs.

“You don’t know me, but I’m the girl who lives downstairs… Apartment 214, the girl with long, brown hair… I know you’ve seen me, ‘cause I’ve seen you, but we’ve never spoken… I haven’t met you, but I want to… I haven’t kissed you, but I need to… I don’t know you, but I want to… yeah I want to…”

That sultry voice. And God, did she know how to play with her eyes. And the way her ass swayed as she played her guitar… Sav took a deep breath as he absorbed the song.

“Please forgive me, I know this is kinda strange… Just appear here out of the blue, askin’ your name… But I couldn’t let another day go by bein’ strangers… I haven’t met you, but I want to… I haven’t kissed you, but I need to… I don’t know you, but I want to… yeah I want to… Yeah, I’d like to get to know you better… Maybe we could get together… Sometime, oh anytime at all…” She flashed her eyes up to make sure he was still there. “La la la la la la la la… La la la la la la la la… La la la la la la la la…”

She pushed her guitar aside and took the microphone as she walked toward stage right. “I haven’t met you, but I want to… I haven’t kissed you, but I need to… I don’t know you, but I want to… yeah I want to…” She looked straight into his eyes. “I want you…”

Oh yeah, he was complete mush. Possibilities for the time after the concert swam through his mind as she finished the song. “I haven’t met you, but I want to… I haven’t kissed you, but I need to… I don’t know you, but I want to… yeah I want to… Oh, I want to…”

As soon as her set finished up, she ran to the side of the stage and looked around. He was gone. “Dammit!” She sighed.

“What’s wrong?” Todd asked. “The show was great!”

“Thanks.” She sighed. “I need to go, can you cover for me?”

“For how long?”

“Not sure.”

“Then I’m going with you.”

“That’s not necessary.”

“Yes, it is.” He grunted.

“Fine.” She rolled her eyes.

By the time she changed, freshened up, and made it to the ‘Rock Fest’, the Leps were into their first song. She crossed her arms and watched.

“Sure is loud!” She spoke to Todd.

“What?” He yelled.

She giggled and returned to the show.

Phil looked up to see Mindee standing with her arms crossed, swaying to the music. He elbowed Sav and nodded toward her. The smile on his face was priceless as he returned to his playing.

“Okay, we’ve got an interview in 20 minutes.” Todd nudged her as a song ended.

She frowned as she followed him out.

Sav ran to the side of the stage before the encore and looked around. She was gone. Oh well, they were staying at the same hotel. He wiped the sweat from his face and prepared to return to the stage.

But I Want To

Chapter 5

The Leps were whisked back to their hotel for a few interviews after the show. Once they were finished, Sav looked around the room and waited.

“Bar?” Vivian asked.

“Sounds good to me.” Malvin nodded.

“Bar.” Sav rose to his feet and followed them out.

“I’ll be there after bit.” Phil waved them on.

Mindee did interview after interview. Just when she thought she was finished, another would enter the room. She rested her cheek on her hand and let out a deep sigh.

“What time is it?” Sav asked Vivian for about the 20th time.

“2:00 in the AM.” He sighed. “I’m gonna head on up.”

“I think I’ll follow.” He finished off his drink and slid off of the barstool.

“If there’s anymore, I’m cancellin’.” Mindee rose to her feet.

“No, that’s it.” Todd smiled. “Go have fun.”

“You have no idea.” She growled as she dashed out of her room.

“Night!” Phil and Vivian walk off quickly. Sav rolled his eyes and chuckled. Must be his turn to pay the tab.

“Tab, please.” He waved at the bartender.

“Huh?” He looked up from staring at the door.

Sav turned to see what he was looking at and smiled. Mindee was posing for a photo with a few fans. “Never mind.” He returned to his seat.

She made her way through the sea of people and finally made it to the bar. Sav again slid off the bar stool and met her eyes. She bit her lip to hide her grin.

“Rick Savage.” He held his hand out.

“Mindee Thompson.” She took his hand.

“You look great.” He looked her over.

“Huh?” She asked over the roar of the crowd.

“Your set, it was great.” He blushed as he realized what he said.

“You’re not so bad yourself.” She winked. She was surprised how calm she was staying, because that British accent was driving her wild. “I just came down long enough to meet you. I’m supposed to be on the road in… 4 hours.”

“I’ll walk you to your room, then?”

“I’d like that.” She nodded as he threw cash onto the bar. He then took her hand and walked to the elevator.

The elevator ride was quiet as they waited, neither of them realizing that they were still holding hands. She led him to her room and stopped when he chuckled.

“What?” She turned to him.

“I’m in the same room, one flight up.” He pointed to the ceiling.

She giggled as she opened her door, and then turned around to look at him.

They stared at one another for a moment before he leaned in for a kiss. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into her room. He closed the door with his foot as their hands began to roam one another’s body.

He found the hem of her shirt and pulled it over her head as she pushed his shirt from his shoulders. He then removed her bra as she pulled at the tabs of his jeans and pushed them down his hips. He kissed and nibbled at her shoulder as he pushed her skirt down, her panties right along with it. He then swooped her up into his arms and threw her onto the bed.

She giggled as he joined her, kissing and licking at every part of her body along the way up. She ran her fingers through his hair as he bit at the crook of her neck. She wrapped her legs around him and pushed her hips up to meet his. That was all the invitation he needed before he pushed his way inside her.

“Oh!” She closed her eyes and tightened her grip on his shoulders as he began to move in and out of her.

He moved her hands above her head and laced his fingers through hers as he stared into her eyes. She bit her lip and arched her back as her body began to shudder around him. She whimpered as she closed her eyes.

“You can do better than that, love.” He smiled at her. “Let me hear you.”

She kissed him as she pushed him onto his back. “Hold on, then.” She giggled as she impaled herself on him.

“Oh, God!” He breathed as she rode him.

She rubbed his chest and she pumped her legs up and down. She yelled out as she tightened around him.

“Damn!” He dug his fingers into her hips as her muscles pounded around him. “Oh!” He closed his eyes as he lost complete control. He thrust his hips into her one final time before spilling himself deep inside her.

She collapsed onto him, smiling and panting. “Don’t you know that cowgirls do it best in the saddle?” She whispered as he laughed.

“Apparently.” He kissed her neck.

They lay there for the longest time, kissing and cuddling before she finally slipped into his arms and drifted off to sleep.

Sav woke up to the sunlight the next morning. He looked up at the clock. 8:00 AM. He then sat up and looked around. She was gone.

He slowly dressed and on his way out, noticed a note on the dresser. He smiled as he read it.

It was great meeting you. Perhaps our paths will cross again. Mindee.

The van was quiet as the Leps returned to the airport. Joe fiddled around with the radio stations until he found Mindee on the radio. She was singing “But I Want To”.

“Too bad you didn’t get around to meeting her.” Phil offered.

“Yeah, too bad.” He leaned back into his seat and smiled.
