We started our family business in 1966 in Western North Carolina near spruce pine by working to install a railcar system for emerald removal in the local mine; formerly owned by Tiffany & Co. Jewelers.
From this.... Came these beautiful Emerald crystals and Garnets mixed with Biotite and Muskovite Mica and Feldspar.
Luscious dark green specimens and gem rough were mined. Then our family started selling facet rough to people who wanted to cut their own gems across the United States of America.
Our locally mined from western north carolina dirt is enhanced with more gemstones so that you are certain to find your own gems.

Coming this Spring In conjunction with Franks Mine Tours Gemshop Real Mining at its Best!
The Emerald Mine will be launching a new an exciting event at our location. We will haul local Mine Muck from various local area mines to our mines at The Emerald Mine location. No Pits or unsafe Caves! This fun for all mining will be offered for all our customers who want to participate in actual digging, at a safe and supervised location using spades and trowels with our Qualified Gem Mining Experts supervising each dig and answering your questions. We will supply all the tools and safety gear you need for an exciting mining adventure. Plus every gemstone you find is yours to keep! This will be an everyday event that you wont want to miss! All participants will be required to sign liability waivers prior to digging.
The Emerald Mine
is located just off The Blue Ridge Parkway in Little Switzerland, North Carolina in Mitchell County close to Spruce Pine, on Mckinney Mine Road, very close to resorts like Emerald Village, Gem Mountain, Rio doce Jerry Call Inc, and Spruce Pine Gem and Gold Mine.
