Frozen Dinners
From
the correspondance of Lilly Johnston
My dearest parents,
I have found myself at the end of yet another adventure that challenged
not only the body but the mind as well.
It all stared at the end of a long tiring trek back to Dallarack to
check in on their progress on a cure for the woods. Our party
found ourselves surrounded by a pack of worgs when we were just outside
the city. Their numbers were far greater than a party of our size
could handle but luckily Lanaya had a signal whistle that brought the
dwarven cavalry and our elven guides to our rescue but not before we
could dispatch a few of the worg pack.
The dwarven war sheep truly are magnificent but despite my best efforts
they do not seem willing to part with even a small one. Alas I
guess I will have to make due with Francine…
We barley made it through the gates of the city when we found out the
dwarves had figured out a way of preventing further spread of the
crystal blight, which we sent home with our elven companions. Happily,
Lanaya chose to stay with us to improve and expand her skills.
Shortly after the departure of Celiviel and Thas’Sehal the dwarves
called on us to help rescue two of their people, who had been carried
off by a large snow beast into a great snow storm. Thia did an
amazing job tracking it through the blizzard to its den where it made a
stand and we defeated it. Unfortunately one of the Dwarves was
dead and half devoured before we reached the cave, but the survivor was
in good shape and glad to be going home. We took the body of his
fellow with us so that he could have a proper burial. The trek
back the caves proved more difficult than the way out as we only had
enough rope to mark a third of our way out into the snowy
mountains. We lost our way but managed, by the grace of Bridget,
to find our rope guide and make it back the dwarven strong hold.
Alas, we still don’t have a cure for the forest but we become closer
with every day and I am hopeful that by the end of the winter season we
will be able to come home.
I miss you with every passing day but I would not give up a single
moment of my adventures.
With Love,
Lilly
