Fearn

As we travel from Blackwater heading
home and Nuin passes to Fearn, I am reminded again of the differences
between the elven homeland and these human’s with whom I travel. No
celebration or mention was made of the spring equinox. As I reflect on
the festivities of the Spring Revel occurring at home and pray that
Celiviel, The’sehal and Baltuun made it safely across the mountains and
succeeded in delaying the spread of the crystal plague, I realize that
I am missing the friendships, customs and polite society of home. I
have, however, come to be quite fond of these human companions and have
a curiosity to explore more of the world visiting their great cities
and wonders.
The celebration of spring stirring the sap in the trees and feeling
nature renew the spirit has filled me with melancholy this year as I
reflect on fallen comrades. I have seen more death and destruction in
this past year than in all the years of my life to this point. The
courage of comrades bravely committing to aid our homeland and giving
everything they have to that task, even onto their very lives, has
shown me the goodness that exists outside of our lands. These travels
have shown me the poverty and strife that exists outside our lands.
Perhaps the favour of human aid in solving our forest’s plague should
be repaid by elven aid toward some of the human challenges. I begin to
feel that my talents and skills are being called upon to protect and
defend the worthy in the world outside of our forest borders.
Let not my arm falter, lest the lives in my care be forfeit.

On a journey such as this a time must
come for remembrance of the fallen companions. Witnessing the miracles
of the day has caused me to reflect on the needless death and disease
we have seen on this quest. I pray for the souls of the fallen comrades
and regret that knowledge gained in healing and places of miracles did
not come in time to save them. I ask for Corellon’s favour in doing
better in the future.
For Those of Pure Heart and Good Intentions
For the wounded and sick in dire need.
Seek ye this home of the Lady of Light
Speak her name at the altar
As your tears fall seek in earnest her
blessings
And be healed.
This is the
inscription (or as close as we could decipher it) in the Temple of the
Lady of Light outside the town of Crowstone in the Mystic Forest. Here
I witnessed a blind companion’s vision healed and then saw first-hand
the curse of rabid savagery lifted from Shylene’s companion Janx and
the wolves of the Mystic Forest.
With the
blessed miracles occurring in the temple and now, as I watch the forest
and see signs of the curse lifting from all the animals in the area, I
feel at peace knowing that we have helped the villagers and aided the
cause of good. The village will be safe and we can set off again for
home to cure the forest.
Note for the
Forest Guard: I’ve inscribed a picture of the nature of the living oily
vines we discovered guarding the Temple of the Lady of Light. Perhaps
the researchers would find interest in the nature of the plant and uses
as a guardian for our forests. Perhaps seeds or spells can be found to
create more plants or protect what is in our control.
Note for the
Healers: I will relay directions as best I can below, and review the
path with interested parties when I return.
