The Isle of Dread - Part I

An excerpt from "The Gospel According to Zook", from the rare cultist Roderician Bible, as translated by Baron St. Bryan
.... and lo the horrible storm ruptured our ship and I was swallowed by the angry sea. Even in my terrifying struggle I knew no fear for surely the great Roderic would allow no harm to come to me.

When next I awakened I was on the calm shore with two others.  I sang joyfully that Roderic had spared me and my companions so that we may continue to honor him.  But the Dark One saw my faith and sent a deamon chicken to test our faith.  Though the beast was great and powerful, the grace of Roderic gave us greater power and the horrid beast fled from our sight.

Just as had been foretold, we journeyed 100 days through dangerous jungles and beaches without food or water, but each night the holy servants of Roderic would nourish our bodies and heal our wounds.  At the end of our wanderings and trials, we saw the wreckage of the holy transport Roderic had provided us.  When we saw it, we wept and ripped our clothes, because we thought the great Roderic had been destroyed.  To punish us for our lack of faith great apes were sent to destroy us.  But Roderic is a forgiving God and spared his misguided disciples.

The great Roderic then said “Those who live here are but lowly savages.  Let us turn them from their false gods and perverse idols.”  And so the vile jungle parted for us as we followed to the village of Tanaroa.  Upon seeing us, the lowly savages were struken with awe and cried up “oh great Roderic save us from our evil ways”.

At this the dark Zombie Master rebuked her followers saying “You are foolish to turn from the great Set to follow this false god.  Though I have perverted our laws and spat upon the traditions of our ancestors I am Set's chosen.”  Despite her words, the savages saw her folly and took heart that Roderic would vanquish the vile Zombie Master and free them.

Seeing that the savages had strong hearts and good souls, Zook began telling tales of the great Roderic.  This angered the Zombie Master who lashed out with vile magics.  Seeing this, Roderic and his disciples became angry and destroyed the vile Zombie Master and her minios of Set.  So great was the defeat that Set appeared before Roderic in submissive apology and begged for mercy.

The merciful Roderic gave Set mercy upon condition that his companions were taken to the Deathbringer.  Set agreed and the savages took the great Roderic beyond the great wall to the home of Deathbringer
