Darien was last seen journeying into the Demon Crater. No one has seen
him since (8th Quaternary Advance, Pass of 3798).
Darien Dracophar was born on the 8th day of Primary Advance in the pass
of 3776, in a small village of Berelemain in the Duchy of Green Hills,
Ascaria. Originally Darien trained to become a fletcher and take over
the
family business when his father retired. All of this changed shortly
after
his 9th birthday when a raiding party of frost giants came from the
nearby
mountains. In the carnage that followed, Darien was the sole survivor
from
his village. Darien’s entire family perished in the attack. The only
existing
family member was his uncle Haryl, a greedy merchant living in Ascaria
city. Daryl grudgingly took Darien in, but made no effort to make him
feel
at home. Traumatized by the events of his childhood and feeling out of
place in the city, Darien’s only friend was Narax Millian, a young boy
studying to become an invoker. As the years progressed, Darien spent
more
and more of his time in the wilderness outside of Ascaria City. During
these wanderings, Darien met an old fighter named Bornhald, who taught
Darien the use of weapons and the finer points of combat. When Bornhald
died just before Darien turned 17, he lost his last reason to stay. A
year
later he offered to accompany Narax when he set off in search of
adventure.
Since then, Darien has been constantly on the move, searching for news
of the giants who destroyed his village and killed his family. Darien
travelled
with Narx, Khorne the barbarian, and Itell The Hand for several years,
before leaving to investigate the demon crater.
Darien says little, and cares less for most humans than he does for
animals.
With both his past haunted and his soul consumed by thoughts of
revenge,
Darien often appears hard and cold to those he doesn’t know. This
impression
is furthered by his abrupt manner, dour appearance and the large scar
he
received during a fight with a displacer beast. His single-minded
pursuit
of revenge has, however, left Darien a capable and dangerous adversary.
