Tyr
Intermediate Power of Arcadia

The god of war and valor, Tyr is lawful good.  His titles include the Fearless and the Invincible.  The domains associated with Tyr are law, protection, strength, and war.  Followers of Tyr are known as evincers.

Evincers of Tyr promote the ideals of courage, valor, and honor.  Similar to Kos, another deity of war, Tyr believes in the necessity of warfare to ensure the stability of law and order throughout Annwn.  However, unlike Kos, who believes in using war to subjugate others to his laws, Tyr believes war is necessary to protect a society from outside forces attempting to destabilize it.  As such, the two groups often find themselves in open conflict.  While evincers consider the followers of Kos their sworn enemies, they hold them in high regard, respecting their strength and courage in battle.  Though Tyr's followers believe it is their sworn duty to fight and to die for those beings to weak to defend themselves, they hold little respect for them, and reserve a particular scorn for the priests of Ariel.  Followers of chaotic evil deities are considered honorless dogs by the evincers, and they make every effort to stamp these curs out of existence.  The holy symbol for all evincers of Tyr is a large eagle holding a thunderbolt, symbolizing the majesty of Tyr, and his ability to smite down all those who oppose him.  The favored weapon of Tyr is the longsword.

Ceremonies devoted to Tyr are simple and to the point, most often made immediately prior to a major battle.  Ceremonial dress for evincers consists of dark blue robes embroidered with thunderbolts, over top of resplendent metal armor.  Many evincers don the ceremonial dress for major battles as well, although this is not required.

Evincers of Tyr are rarely found as rulers throughout Annwn, being generally unsuited to governing.  Instead, they frequently act as commanders or generals of large armies, roles which they fill as if they were born for the position.  Some evincers, however, choose to adventure alone, testing their individual combat skills instead of their leadership capabilities.  As such, evincers may be found throughout the land.  Tyr is most heavily worshipped in the lands of the Jotun, Exmoor and Garven, where he is even more popular than Arawn.
