Star Ocean:The Second Story Tips/Tricks/Hints

Invincible Party
Equip someone or everyone in your party with a Lunatic Ring as one of your accessories. The Lunatic Ring makes you have sky high defense, and makes you practically invincible but leaves you dizzy the whole time during battle (so that person can't attack or move). But if you equip a Peep Non to the other slot for your accessory then that person will be able to move freely about and attack with out taking any damage! But you will still take some damage from some enemies and the Lunatic Rings tend to break after they've been equiped. But if you equip someone (or everyone) with Bloody Armor then they will never recieve damage from physical or magical attacks!!! The downside is that it continueously drains that character's HP until thay die. The only way to counter this is to heal with either a character's Killer Move (only Claude, Opera, and Bowman have Killer Moves that can heal) or have Rena or Noel cast healing spells on that character. This even works with bosses and can help with those hard enemies in the Cave of Trials. It even makes you invincible against the most ultimate (and secret) boss in the game, Iselia Queen. I'll talk about her later though....

No Time Stop
When those pesky time glass-lookin' enemies cast a spell to stop time you can counter it by pressing the "circle" button as soon as they get through casting it. Wait until your characters change their pose to their normal stance and press the "circle" button again and continue fighting. This also helps out when fighting the boss on the 9th level of the Cave of Trials.

The Algol's Secret Power
The Algol, which is a sheild that only Precis and Chisato can equip, has the secret power to instantly kill any enemy or boss! Even enemies you aren't supposed to defeat can be killed (and you'll receive a big mass of Exp. points). If Precis or Chisato is equiped with this then you'll be able to get through most battles with ease. If they are hit or guard against an attack then there's a chance that that enemy will be instantly killed. You can even instantly kill the Iselia Queen!

The Cave of Trials
To get to the Cave of Trials go to the staircase leading to Indalecio, save at the save point that you find there, and leave Fienal. Go to Fun City and go to the battle arena there and you'll an old man in green that you never saw before at the end of the arena on the other side. Just walk up to him and chat. It will wind up in a conversation where he speaks of "reviving old memories" through Virtual Reality and if you agree twice, Arlia will be your next stop. Outside of Arlia is your Synard, and with the Synard, you can reach the Cave of Trials. But be careful because the Cave of Trials is the most difficult dungeon in the game; not for its puzzles but for the monsters that you encounter there. You see them almost nowhere else other than the Survival battle of Fun City. Enter and face all the challenges, and when your task is complete, you shall be rewarded with the Silver Trumpet which can be used to summon the strongest boss in the game: Iselia Queen.

Iselia Queen
Once you have defeated the final boss in the Cave of Trials you acquire the Silver Trumpet. Once you compose the song "Evil Melody" for the Silver Trumpet you will be able to summon her. Play the song and you will be carried to a battle with the Iselia Queen. She IS NOT an easy boss!!! She has up to 33,000,000 HP and is very powerful. It took me three hours to beat her once. She can turn any of your characters into stone and easily wipe everyone out at once with her spells "Shadow Flare" and "Meteor Swarm". Her physical attacks can even kill you. If you even plan on fighting her make sure your party is at least around level 150. Even then it's extremly difficult. Be well stocked with Resurrection Bottles, Resurrection Mists, Smelling Salts, Merlin Drinks, Blackberries, and other healing essentials. I found Opera to be the most useful since most of her Killer Moves have long range. Oh, and don't forget about Rena since her healing spells are a lot more effective than Noel's. Chisato and Claude are of course very helpful too. Anyways, just use someone you like a lot and that has high HP and MP and good Killer Moves. And you should also equip accessories that are strong against "Star" and "Dark" based attacks. Remember that the "Bloody Armor trick" listed at the top of this page works extremely well in this battle as long as your characters have close to 9,999 HP and you include Rena or Noel in the fight. Overall just go out there with a good strategy for each character and a whole lot of faith!!!

Easier Way of Getting Opera and Precis's Machinery Killer Moves
An easy way to get Opera and Precis's "Machinery only Killer Moves" is to get the Silver Trumpet (you have to clear the Cave of Trials to get it) and compose the song "Melody of Gods". And make sure Opera and Precis have a 10 in "Machinery". Use the Silver Trumpet song "Melody of Gods" and then quickly go to "Machinery" and have Opera or Precis make different things. If their skill in Machinery is high enough then they should create their Killer Moves. Make sure you hurry because the effects ware off once the music stops playing! Or alternatively...you can use the Super Specialty "Orchestra" or the violin song "Hail to the Goddess" (It helps if Precis has the talent "Dexterity", Opera always has this talent).

Voice Collection
There is no way to get 100% in the voice collection unless you have a Gameshark 3.2 or higher. Belive it or not but the programers actually put voice samples that are impossible to get. Like Dias yelling "Leon!" or Noel shouting "Antidote", which is impossible because Leon and Dias can't be in the same party and Noel never gets the spell "Antidote". But you can listen to voice samples you don't have by clicking on, for examaple #9 then quickly moving to #8 and you will hear the voice sample for #8 instead of #9. You have to have the number before or after the one you want to hear, what I mean is you have to have either #7 or #9 to listen to the one you don't have, #8. You understand right? Anywayz most of the voice samples come from just using a normal attack or being hit by an enemie's attack. And if you're close (in terms of feelings) to another character and they die in battle then that charcter will shout out their name. You can however get up to 45% (which unlocks higher difficulty settings) and 75% (which unlocks a a music test).
