Slumber Party!

Candidate's Barracks
Long and low, this large room angles back into the mountain in a near-perfect rectangle, devoid of windows and hearth. A functional room -- the black volcanic rock has been painted with a cheerful mural, with the other walls painted in green and orange thoughtfully, before resuming the stark simplicity in the seemingly endless rows of cots that scatter back into the shadows. A small clothespress sits at the end of each puce-covered bed -- yes, puce. Every cot sports a rather gaudy and obnoxiously purple cotton coverlet, leftovers from PranksPast. Boys to the right, girls to the left. Enjoy.

Jayden is sitting upright on his cot, legs stretched out in front of him and hands tucked neatly behind his head. His eyes are languidly moving about the room (deceivingly calm compared to the nervous wreck he actually is), ears subsconsciously tuned to any hints of humming. It's getting close, they say. Very close. Gulp. He needs something to get his mind off of this...desperately. He nods towards the other candidates, thinking. A party...that would work. As long as all mentions of the hatching are outlawed, that'll work just fine. "Hey," he murmurs to anyone who's listening. "We should like, do something. Like...a party." Ain't he brilliant? Maybe.

Debajirin is face down on his pillow, and will stay that way, thank you very much. Kuk is in an equally exhausted position, the fish puppet on his hand, and flopped on its back so that those beady wooden eyes stare at the door of the barracks. Debajirin, however, isn't nervous. He's not thought of the Hatching they claim is imminent for, oh, a good candlemark, and he'll have it stay that way. That is why he's not thinking about anything. Why he's lying facedown on his cot, only moving to come up for air when the pillow begins to suffocate him, and then going back down. On one of his air-runs, he hears Jayden's words, and turns a face that's minorly pale due to the near lack of oxygen towards the Dolphincraft Candidate. "Do something? Why would anyone in their right mind want to /do/ anything?" is complained, and then words sink in. Party. And Baji find himself perked and sitting at attention on his cot, Kuk poised and ready for action as well. "Party? What sort?"

Jayden slips his legs over the side of his bed and stands up slowly, arms moving over his head as he stretches them. My, Jay is actually /thinking/ - Faranth, who ever thought that would happen? He grins at Debajirin, head slowly nodding. A party could be good. Could be /very/ good, in fact. "Like...a slumber party sort of party. We could steal - I mean, borrow - food from the Caverns...but no tubers. Only good stuff. And...we could wear nightclothes and stuff." And party. Yeah.

Debajirin tilts his head towards Jayden, tilting his fish puppet in the other direction, and the pair of 'em consider the other candidate's suggestion for a moment. "Y'know... That could work. My sisters used to rant about that type of thing, and how fun they were and stuff... Ya, oh, we could maybe get some bubblies, to start off with!" Apparently Debajirin has taken to the idea rather well, and Kuk gives a sharp nod with everything the Candied Fisherman says. "Oh, ya, and hanging around in night clothes, well, those are more comfortable. And maybe we could, like, set up a bit of a cover between cots by draping blankets over 'em, and sit in there and swap stories, and eat our bubblies..." Ah yes, for what is a slumber party without the 'blanket fort?' Debajirin positively beams as he hurries on, spouting ideas left and right rather suddenly for someone who'd sworn off thinking a moment before. "Alright, so who wants to raid the kitchens?"

Jayden has a sister, yep, so he's heard about them too. Eyes glimmer at a Deba's suggestions, head bobbing up and down in agreement. "Ohh, perfect! Definitely bubblies. We /have/ to have bubblies. And blankets...perfect." He beams, head still bobbing. This could be fun. Very, very fun. "Hmm...well, I will, I guess. But there'll be too much stuff to carry by myself..." Hint, hint. And even if he could get it all himself, would he want to? Nope. Kitchen-raiding isn't a solitary sort of thing.

Debajirin grins maniacally, their task seeming almost planned out for the time being. He hops from his cot, removing Kuk from his hand, though the puppet is spared enough time to be placed almost tenderly on his cot. "Alright. So, we'll get the food, we'll put it somewhere, we'll build the blanket hold... Or should we do the blanket hold first?" And his excitement is thrown off by his unending urge to have things set in his brain. "See, because if we had the hold up, we could go and hide in it as soon as we got the food. Only thing is..." and his voice switches to a bit of a wail, "we might get /hungry/ while we're building it!" Help, Jay.

Jayden tilts his head to one side, rather perturbed by Debajirin's proposed dilemma. Details are important matters, don't you know? Face crinkles into a frown as his eyebrows come together in thought. "Well...I don't know. Shards...well...I don't know. But...well...we should probably build the hold first. Simply because if we get the food first we'll end up eating it all before the hold is done and then we'll have to steal more and we'll probably get caught and yeah." Logical, isn't he?

Debajirin follows Jayden's deduction with several bobs of his head, brow furrowing up in a frown as he listens, though face un-creasing once the end is reached. "That makes good sense. Good good sense. So, let's see, we'll need blankets, and maybe we should drag a few cots in close together? I've got a nice yellow blanket, even if it's got a few holes in it... And the trunks, we could use those in our building as well!" He pauses, stroking at one strip of hair going across a cheek, a habbit he's taken to when he's in thought. "Now, how many entrances are we gonna want here? And are we just gonna set up walls, or should we do ceilings too? They're fun, but we'll have to duck if we only really have cots to build with, and that could be hard for the eating bit. Mother always said you aren't supposed to eat when you lie down..."

Jayden nods to Deba, eyes darting around the room for building materials. "Let's see...I have a blanket, and we can steal some others off cots..." People won't mind, right? Of course they won't. "Oh, and the trunks, good idea. We should probably push the cots closer together, then...and I don't know about the ceiling, unless we can find a way to raise it or something..." Jay proceeds to collect the blanket off of his cot.

Debajirin nods, grabbing his own blanket and watching it poof on the air, with a bit of a wicked grin on his face. "Alright, so... It'd probably be best in the middle of the room, so we could drag my cot and your cot and some of the girls' cots, maybe Zella's and Serafa's, into the middle, and the trunks too..." He frowns, lifting his blanket to a position where he can properly clutch it. "Cause they probably won't mind that either, and then we could use their blankets too." Hee hee. "Now, if we had a big stick, we could really get a high ceiling... There aren't big sticks in the barracks though, are there? They probably wouldn't trust us with 'em."

Jayden nods, beginning to shove a number of odd items off of his cot to assist in the moving process. And Faranth knows what'll be /under/ it... "All right, good idea. I'm sure they won't mind...and if they catch us, we can always share the food." They're girls...so they won't eat much, right? Eyes scan the room for anything remotely resembling a big stick. "Nope, I don't think so...they must not trust us. Or...something like that." Uh, yeah.

Debajirin grins for the praise, getting down near the trunk to push it away from the foot of his cot before attempting to move the bed itself. After a bit of scraping, he nods to Jayden. "Aye, we'll have to bring lots of food, then. Or at least a bit extra. And then, if they /don't/ catch us..." Hands are rubbed together greedily as he goes to get a firm hold on the edge of his cot, bracing himself. "Or maybe they're too busy playing with the big sticks, and not wanting to share," Jir suggests before grabbing the thing, and tugging at it, drawing it towards the center of the room with his big manly Fisherman muscles.

Jayden leans down and places both of his hands at the head of his cot, slowly pushing it towards the center. A glance back at the space the cot usually occupies causes an involuntary shudder to run down his spine. Faranth...that's a whole lot of /stuff/. He pushes it until it's perpendicular with Deba's and then steps back, nodding. "Of course. Tons of food. We just have to be careful, that's all..." At the fisherman-candie's last comment, he lets out something like a snort. "Serafa and Zella, playing with big sticks?" Ahem. That's the only comment that's leaving his lips, yup.

The fiesty one. The red-headed one. The one with dark blue eyes is seated on her cot. The sheets pulled around her delicately, draping off the edges of the cot in all directions. A dirty foot is stuck out one side, a lightly tanned hand the other. Rowann is just watching the two /boy/ candidates before her with a smirk tugging at her lips, eyes widening every now and again at some of the comments they make, though you can be sure she's heard it all before! A sigh escapes from betwixt her lips of pale coral, "I'm tired." And bored. And in fact really, /really/ wanting a cream puff. Well, we don't always get what we want! But Rowann does, most of the time. Wink.

Debajirin eyes the spot freshly vacated by Jayden's cot, a sickly expression overpowering his face for a few moments. "Well, that's nice," he mutters under his breath, and then gives a cough of particularly loud laughter for the last comment from the other 'boy candi.' "Oh, I'm sure," he says with a suggestive grin, then turning around and looking for the next cot he intends to move: Zella's cot. And then Rowann is heard, and he blinks over at her, almost having forgotten that she was there, the considerate fellow that he is. "Are you now? Well, maybe once we get our blanket hold built you can come and sit in it with us, and eat, and then sleep while we talk? At least, if you lend us a blanket or two from your cot..." Eyes shine for that prospect as he goes and places a firm grip on Zella's cot, starting to drag the thing to close off one end of his and Jayden's cot. "We should leave the other end open," he calls to the Dolphincrafter-type. "An entrance, y'know."
