D'baji finds tact a waste of time. So crawling right into a goldrider's couch doesn't seem in the least inappropriate to him. A rolled up hide brandished in the rider's direction, D'baji not wanting to go so far as to smack it against the wall, lest he wake the draconic feline. "Yuli," is hissed through clenched teeth in a whisper that could wake the Weyr. (Sorry, player likes alliterations). "Get up! I wanna talk to you. And that's all that matters." Oh aye, he's frazzled. Yulianna blinks up at Baji, eyes wide, and glances sharply at Miyakath, mind probing for the gold's consciousness, and heaving an audible sigh of relief. She blinks back toward the bronzerider, looking concerned now. "I wanted to talk to ya' too...but ya' look a bit frazzled. What's up?" She wriggles around on her stomach to face D'baji, her voice low as she explains, "We can talk here er go somewhere else if ya' like...she's out cold..." Referring of course to the lightly snoring gold. D'baji gives a little awing look down to Miyakath. "She's looks positively lovely," is commented with a little quirk of a grin before he's back to his less-important, but certainly mamoth, problems. "Good, what did you want to talk to me about? Really, we could get that over with first, seeing as I've come here and it is yours and Miyakath's, and all... And here, read this," is added, the hide tossed her way. "And if you /really/ want we could go to Nverath's couch, but he's sleeping too, all stretched out and everything, and I really don't want to risk being found not doing knots, cause that could be ugly." Yulianna takes the letter and peruses it before replying to him, her eyes growing wide about half way through it, and then blinking up at D'baji expectantly as she finishes reading. "Big naked party?" But she gives a little shake of her head, "So...what's got you so riled up?" she asks, just about as near non-challant as one could wish for. "An' we're okay here, 'less ya' wanna go back to Nverath's couch--I'm sure they won't begrudge ya' a moment to talk." And Yuli's couch is a little further into a corner than D'baji's...making it less accessible to eaves-dropping. D'baji nods with a fond little roll of his eyes (oh yes, those /can/ indeed be fond, just watch). "Yeah, well, you have to admit... I mean, if you look at all those greenriders..." A shudder for them. Yeeaagh... "But yes. Riled, who? Psht, me?" He does his very best act of apathy, which lasts a good two seconds before he gives a whuffle. "And yeah, here's good, here's definately good. But look at the letter! Now, do tell me, how am I supposed to answer any of this? Let alone the fact that I can't write," is added in a bit of a bitter mumble. "Shardin' knots... Sorry, you wanted to talk to me?" Yulianna shakes her head, holding the letter out to D'baji, as though reluctant to hold it any longer. "So ya' want me to help ya' write to her, too? D'baji..." Whine. "I dunno what ya'd wanna say to her. Ya' might start off by explainin' that it's not just one bit orgie here, that they keep ya' busy doin' so many things that ya' hardly have a chance to be alone, much less with some'un else." Yuli takes a deep breath, pushing her hair behind her ears, and pondering a moment. "Why do ya' keep comin' to me fer stuff like this? She's /yer/ girlfriend. OH!" She claps her hands together, scrambling to her knees and peering at D'baji, "That reminds me of what I wanted to ask ya'...I had sort of a favor to ask, ya' see?" D'baji grabs the letter with a bit of a smile before widening his eyes to at least twice their normal size, giving a wee little laugh (ha, it's /his/ turn to laugh at /her/! Take that candidacy! *Stops with the brackets*), and then an all-out giggle, which is silenced quickly enough by biting the hide. "Nooononononononono. I don't want you to help me write her, if anything I'll do that m'self... Eventually. I was just coming so that you might pat me on the back and tell me 'there there, Deba, everythin's alright' and be my general comforter because really I'm closer to you here than anyone." Insert evil grin. "And she isn't /technically/ my 'girlfriend.' First of all, she's a young woman, right? And the fact that there's not much of that going on right now, especially as I'm here and she's there and we've sorta fallen out of touch, but shards, HELP!" In short. "But, anyway... Favour, you wanted? Sorry. I'm done. Thank you already." Yulianna nods at D'baji's statement about being 'closer' to her than anyone and leans forward, "Aye, I feel the same way too. Yer my best friend here...an' ya've been around a couple of times when I needed someone." Blush. Blush-blush. "I mean...even if I didn't know I needed a hug ya've given me one so...it's only natural fer me to come to ya' in this sort of situation, too, right? So that's why I'm askin' ya' fer this favor." Ahem. Now that we have the explaination out of the way...she leans forward just a /little/ more, looking a little eager and /very/ serious and a little sheepish as she blurts, "I need yer help to have sex." D'baji puts on his embarassed look, giving a modest little hand wave, and a final "Err, thanks." For the friend comment, mind. "Yeah, well, y'know, I try with the hugs. Amazing things, are these hugs. Really they are. But, by all means, moving /on/. Good that you can come. That's good, cause we can talk, right? I'm rambling. Haven't ben this bad since... Ever?" He shuts up right about then, raising an eyebrow for her leaning closer, and rather self-consciously running a hand through his hair, halfway through doing that when he blinks. "My help?" Well, thank Faranth there's a Nverath, or he would probably have fainted over even the thought of Yuli talking about that, let alone anything else. "And... How do you want me to help you, exactly?" Yulianna wrinkles her nose, "Ya' don't gotta tease me like that! Ya' know what I mean!" She slaps lightly at his shoulder. "How could ya' even think that I mean anythin' but...well...I need ya' to help me figure out /who/ of course! But don't let Miyakath know...I mean...she'd probably be upset that I'm /plannin'/ it." She grimaces a little, fidgetting with the hem of her tunic. Yuli? Fidgetting? "See, I talked to Weyrwoman Hannah...and she said that'd probably be best." "Well, thank Faranth!" D'baji sighs, giving a bit of a shiver. "I mean, no offense, but y'know..." The hide is tapped for emphasis. "I didn't mean it that way, I swear, it's just not something you're usually asked... Alright, guys..." He frowns, rubbing at his chin thoughtfully a moment, and, in a habit developed from his lovely facial hair of candidacy, tracing little zig-zags down his cheeks. It's a twitch. "Well, it probably would be. Y'know, all the flight stories and that. But right, I won't tell Miyakath, or Nverath, or anyone. Er, I'll /try/ not to tell Nverath, and if he knows tell him not to tell anyone every time he brings it up or remembers it or whatever." Because that makes loads of sense. "Okay, well, tell me all the guys you feel particularly close to," a cough here for recent conversations, "in the Weyr?" Yulianna rolls her eyes, seeming to become increasingly annoyed with D'baji's chatter. "Baj--Baji...just...ahem. Okay, um...who do I feel close to?" She ponders that for a moment, eyes staring at some unoccupied spot between herself and the wall, finally she shakes her head. "Nope, no good. Only person I can think of is yerself...and ya' know ya' don't count." Of course, she doesn't even think about the implications of that last bit... D'baji clears his throat, ending in a cough. Right, staying quiet. It's a new thing for the flustered Baji, who's not had his pat on the shoulder and 'everything's alright' yet. So he happily waits for her pondering, folding down into a cross legged position and oggling Miyakath a bit. "No good?" is asked with a blink back to her, trance brought on by the gold broken. "Myself? And why don't I count?" That's asked with a fairly alright tone, not too offended, but more or less curious. In essence, a lot like Nverath's tones. "Alright, so you've got one person you're close to, and /he/ doesn't count... Well... So you don't have anyone you can really talk to then? That makes it difficult... Unless you can talk to people you aren't close to?" He's rambling again. He'll be quiet. Yulianna huffs a sigh, "Ya' don't count 'cause ya' wouldn't want to of course." That's a given. "But..." she huffs another sigh, shaking her head. "Well, just keep it in mind is all..." She shrugs again, suddenly hesitant to speak, and clears her throat softly. "Uh...so...what was it ya' wanted to talk to me about, again? Yer letter...um...ya' wanted..." She looks positively confused, now. "Why did ya' want to talk to me?" D'baji gives a shrug of the left shoulder, tilting his head to the right. "Well, I mean, not that I wouldn't want to, it's just not now. Y'know, with the dragons and that... But you know that. But really it's not to say I wouldn't want to, though." Alright, now that this is cleared up, crawling out of the hole he's digging himself... "So I will keep it in mind. I swear. Really. Maybe I could introduce you to- Wait, I couldn't make you suffer through Feln..." Blink. "So, sorta yeah, I was wanting your advice, if you will?" Letter is hefted again. Such a convenient prop, is the letter. "So what do I do? I mean, she wants to know if things're the same or not, but they aren't are they? I've got Nverath now, and y'know, there's possibility for change... And he was good enough to suggest to me that I might not even know her at all anymore, that I'm clinging to perceptions, sharding bronze..." He's kidding. He loves his dragon. Very much. "But... Okay, what would you do in my position? Help." Ah! Advice! Now that's one thing that Yuli really is good at giving...and so she squirms her legs out from under herself and stretches them out toward Baji, adjusting her skirt around her mid-thighs, her toes tapping lightly on one of his legs. "Well...ya' really should tell her the truth. I don't really /know/ how ya' feel about...everythin'...but if ya' don't think things are the same, ya' shouldn't lead her on. I mean...what are ya' so interested in havin' a girl fer anyhow?" D'baji peers for a good long moment at the toes, giving a Nverath-like whuffle at them, and then reaching out to poke one. "I would, if I had an idea of the truth, y'know... But I'm afraid the most I could do is probably twist her brain around until it breaks, and then stir it up and have a dragon sit on it or something. With all the 'logic' bouncing between Nverath an' me. Nverath finds this amusing, or intersesting, or something..." But anyway. He'll listen to her talk now, really he will. "I dunno if I'm so interested, y'know... That's the problem. She was this person, and I could tell her everything, and we'd talk, and that was all, there was like... No social things in there, no tact, and I liked her a lot for that. And now I've got Nverath. And he's the same, only I don't have to word it... Just give me some opinionated answers. I need them by now." Yulianna twitches as her foot is poked, jerking it backwards a little away from him. Oooooh...Yuli is.../ticklish/? "So...ya' don't really want a girlfriend, an' ya' have Nverath now...an'...ya' live far away from each other. So..." Cough. She peers at him for a moment, expression puzzled, and finally she comes out with, "...So what are ya' confused about?" Practical, isn't she? Too practical, probably. "If I had a runner I didn't need any more--" She stops and shakes her head, "Uh...maybe I shouldn't use a runner as an example..." She thinks for another long moment, and a mischevious grin creeps across her face. "...Okay, if ya' had a wherry--" She breaks off and disolves into a little puddle of giggles. D'baji grins, leaning forward to reach out for a foot again. There's something so very satisfying about having women back away from you, and it's not because you're you. It's a power thing. "Well, I wouldn't say so much that I don't /want/ one, it's just that... Why would I need one, like you said? I mean, Kristi's great, or was, but I might have been thinking about her wrong for the past five months or whatever, and... It's very confusing. I think there's a reason they want you to sever relationships in candidacy." Blink. "But I like runners... Wherries? Don't like them much." A gesture is made towards his wonky eye. An eyebrow is raised for her giggles, and he shakes his head sadly. "Y'know, you're insane. In a good way, cause I can't see your Miya chosing a really seriously insane person, but... So, right. I'll tell her, then, that... I dunno. That'll be helpful." Yulianna shakes her head, "Sorry, I was just imaginin' yer Kristi as a wherry..." She gives another little shake of her head, but keeps a wary (hee hee--erf!) eye on D'baji as he grabs for her foot, firmly keeping her foot where it is...not unlike a game of chicken. She quirks one eyebrow, shooting him one of those 'I /dare/ you to try' looks. "An' who says I'm insane?" she demands, "Just 'cause somethin' is funny...I'm not allowed to laugh at it?" She clenches her jaw against the deeply ingraned desire to jerk her foot away...even just anticipating the tickle-torture is torture. "An' I think yer more insane than me. At least I worry about /important/ stuff." she states with a twinkle in her eye...yes. That was definitely a challenge. D'baji blinks at her, giving an eye-roll. One of them fond ones again. "I dunno, she could do alright as a wherry I guess," he alows, more than happy to dance into this little game. A sweet little smile is given to her daring look, hand pausing a ways away from the foot. "I do. Well, not insane. Just easy to get laughing. Which isn't bad, of course! It's good you laugh a lot, really..." An eyebrow goes straight up for the final comment. "Important? Oh, aye, important. Worrying about sleeping with some guy, you don't care who? Really, in a Weyr? The least you could do is go with someone who even remotely cares about you. Shells, Yuli, it'd be better if it were me than just anyone." He doesn't like the fact that she seems so loose. But, to take away too much sting from his words, he /does/ make a concentrated grab at her foot, fingers wiggling. Yulianna grits her teeth, just the barest thread of determination keeping her from squealing and shooting to the other side of the couch. But she manages to stay planted firmly in place, and even wriggles forward a little--likely to get into a better position to jerk her foot away should she need to. "What's wrong with sleepin' with someone? It happens every day durin' flights...an' ya' wouldn't want me to get all scared at my first flight, would ya'?" Her voice raises a bit--endangering her of awakening her lifemate--and she frowns a little at D'baji--that challenging look still in her eyes. "An' I happen to laugh. And ya' happen to make me laugh 'cause...well...yer a silly wherry!" Hmph! Take that! "Nothin' but a silly wherry! An' who am I supposed to find 'round here that remotely cares 'bout me? Hmph!" "No, I wouldn't want you to be scared," he admits, finishing the grab, but, alas, being somewhat distracted, and actually missing. Blame the fact that he's had two eyes for just about a Turn, compared to at least 15 without it. "There's nothing wrong with it," D'baji adds a bit off-handedly, scooching a bit closer to prepare for another foot grab. "Just y'know, I always figured it'd be good to have someone sorta minorly special, or at least familiar..." One leg is curled up so his cross-leggedness is somewhat ruined. "Good that I make you laugh. Though it seems ironic for me to be called a wherry." About to grab, really this time, he pauses, tilting his head at her and offering a grin, though making a point of keeping his voice down for his next excerpt in conversation. "I do. So there." Yulianna looks confused for a long moment, then the light seems to dawn--so much so that she forget's he's even about to snag her foot. "Oh! Ya' mean someone familiar fer /that/. I thought ya' meant..." Well, nevermind what she thought he meant. "Hold on--" she wriggles around, getting on all fours and crawling toward Baji, reaching a hand toward his face. "I didn't know it was a wherry that did that...an' I dunno why ya' make me laugh...yer just..." she regards him for a moment, hand just a little ways from his face, "...yer just funny. Ya've got an eyelash." she finally explains, reaching up to brush at his cheek. D'baji is still in his quasi-poised-to-pounce position as she turns to crawl towards him, feeling, and looking as well, truth be known, a bit befuddled. "You thought what?" He's curious, he is. "Yeah, I found one when I was little. Interesting. Of course, it does sort of go against all the big manly stories you try to tell. I mean, I could say I got it in a brawl or something. But nope, six turn old sticking his nose where it ought not to be." A little beam, and his eyes face downards, as if he just might see this offending eyelash, and then closing eyes so that his cheek might be brushed, and giving a little shiver about the shoulders. To loosen muscles, of course. "So, Yuli... What would you think of... If you'll let me run an idea by you?" To Between with these moods of him that get him all mushy and that. Look what it does? The about-to-grab hand is belatedly lowered. Yulianna grimaces as she brushes at his face and, without thinking about it, blows at the eyelash, giggling again and shaking her head. "Sorry 'bout that. I didn't mean to blow in yer face. Good thing they didn't serve that chili fer dinner...I'd have real bad breath--as it is..." She gives a little shrug. "I thought ya' meant just fer a girlfriend. Never wanted one m'self. A girlfriend." She grins a little impishly, and then blinks at him expectantly, forgetting to move so that she's not practically in his lap. "An idea by me?" She ponders that a second, then shakes her head, "I don't think they'd let us sneak off to go see yer Kristi." she replies with a wrinkle of her nose. "Just kiddin'. What?" She shiver of his shoulders catches her attention and she busies herself brushing dust or a fuzzy or something like that off his shoulder. D'baji gives a snuffle in response to the sudden air on his face, offering a shrug. "Don't mind. Your breath isn't that bad. I've smelled far worse, I swear." A little grin, and he shakes his head. "No, not like that. I know, you'd said about romance and riding and the two not going so well..." He gives a bit of a snort, obviously not of that mind himself. But then again, he's D'baji. "Yes. No, not to go to SeaCliffs, that would just be... Not good to do right now, I'm sure. No." Blink. "But, okay. Now, please hear me out b'fore you say anything, kay?" Hope hope. And, with a deep breath, and minor quirk of the side of his mouth for her fuzzy brushings. "Alright, well... Okee." Pep talking. "Y'know, by the time Miyakath's old enough for you to do this, and Nverath'll be mature enough too... I mean, if... Unless you have someone in mind, when you want to do this... I could..." This is not getting out clearly. He stops, shakes his head, and starts up again. "Seeing how I know you, and you know me... Remember we were talking about the closeness issue earlier? Well, if you want someone, I'd be... I'd like to offer, I mean. Not to force you." So much for clearer. Ramble-hoy! Yulianna half-peers at Baji out of the corner of her eye as she brushes at the fuzzy, and as he continues to babble, she grows more and more still. As his words finally grind to a halt, she ever so slowly leans back--almost in slow motion, and peers at him, blinking wide eyes just once. She stays half-on-all-fours, just peering at him for a very, very long moment...and finally begins shaking her head slowly back and forth. And after a much longer time, she softly replies, "Offer.../what/?" Blink. Blink. D'baji starts to fidget a bit as she pulls away, mentally kicking himself, and giving a bit of a wince at that, for his nice little rant that seems to have gotten him absolutely nowhere. And then for her words, well, he just blinks at her now. And stares. And, with a sigh, rubs his hand up through his hair in a gesture that's becoming habitual, and starts to talk rather precisely, though hardly a mean tone. Just well thought out, is all. "Okay. When the time comes that you want to-" Oh Faranth help him, "-sleep with a man, I am saying that I would be willing to- Shards, it sounds stupider now than before- be with you?" His measured tone is rather gone for the last bit, voice raising in pitch to end up rather meak and scared sounding. And Nverath isn't awake to support him. Yulianna blinks at D'baji for a long moment, silent as he--almost painfully--draws out his explaination. She doesn't move any further away, though...but peers at him for a long moment, eyes studying his and a little pink creeping across her cheeks as she almost-whispers, "Ya'...wanna be with...with me?" Gulp. "But...I'm like...like yer li'l sister...or some annoyin' cousin er...er somethin'." she shakes her head a little more, blinking up at him, looking confused and bewildered. "How...what..." Then she frowns a little, "If yer makin' fun of me D'baji...so help me but I'll...I'll...sic Miyakath on ya'!" Sniffle. D'baji is feeling rather out on a limb here. And it's becoming more and more noticeable that this situation is becoming awkward. He didn't want it to become awkward. It's been so long since things have been properly awkward, it was getting nice... "You're... No, you aren't. You're like... Yulianna. My friend, the one I confide in, and I care about ya quite a lot..." He shudders for her analogies, rubbing his hands together a bit nervously. "And I'm not making fun of you! I swear, I would /never/ do that like this. I'm serious... Or was but now I'm starting to feel just a bit scared, to be perfectly honest." Fine, Nverath's not good enough to be up? He'll just tell his whole story to Yulianna. "I just figured it's an idea, and I thought it was good, though now I'm starting to have my doubts..." Yulianna alternately nods and shakes her head and nods and shakes her head as D'baji talks, blinking at him as he grinds to a halt, again. Her eyes trail down to let her gaze rest on his foot as she rolls his words over in her mind. Eventually, she blinks back up at him again. "Not annoying, eh? Ya'...really care about me? I mean--ya' don't have to pretend ya' /love/ me er anythin' like that--" she hastily gushes, "--but...well...sometimes I think even my own mum doesn't care 'bout me...I mean, she was proud that I 'pressed a dragon--an' a gold at that! An' of course Miyakath cares 'bout me--" so now it's her turn to babble...and she breaks off abruptly, and quietly asks, "Is Nverath awake?" Who knows, maybe she's decided she wants to t.p. the bronze in his sleep... "Not annoying at all," D'baji does his best to reassure her with a smile. "Yes. I'm afraid I do. I never said I loved you. I'm not saying I love anyone, I've promised myself, until after graduation. Well, except the family, but that's a different sort entirely." You don't ask your family if they want to sleep with you, for one. Ahem. "I'm sure there are others too, and I doubt your mum couldn't care for you at least a bit. But, yes. I do." He pauses at the question, turning in the direction of his bronze's couch, and shaking his head. "He's not yet. I think he might be rousing, but he's not awake yet. Why?" Yulianna refrains fron answering D'baji--at least audibly--and instead leans forward, hesitating a fraction of an inch from D'baji's face, then ducking her head quickly forward and pressing her lips against his. It's a clumsy guesture, really, and would probably not be counted as a very /good/ kiss by anyone with much experience...or any experience...or even...no experience. Frankly, it's a clumsy, fifteen-turn-old kiss which involves more blushing than lip movement, and most certainly includes Yuli's eyes being squeezed tightly shut. When she finally does pull away just a tiny bit, she manages another mammoth gulp, and her eyelids flutter a little as she chews on her bottom lip, and then squeaks out. "Thanks? Erm...um...for...caring about me I mean." Eek! D'baji is rather preparing for Doom by Dragon by the end of his rantings, and when she leans forward he find himself in ready-to-wince mode, and by the time that he gets she's not, so far, got Miyakath after him, and isn't trying to maul him or anything, well. Then it's entirely different. One hand is raised, and then falls again, his attempted response rather left un-finished as he quietly happily slips into shock of being, well, kissed, giving a half-hearted attempt to return such a thing, and then turning his own brilliant shade of red as she pulls away, managing to resist the urge to look away. "No... Err, no problem. It's actually my pleasure. Caring about you, of course," is added hastily in something of an imitation, unconscious though it may be, of her. "So... Yeah, Nverath's definately waking up now, I'd best go, but... I'll talk to you later, I'm sure. Maybe we could get together, bathe our dragons or something." Oooh, that wasn't lame at all. He stands rather awkwardly, offering a little waggle of his fingers, a smile, and a final added shade of red to the blush, before hopping out towards the barracks, and fighting back something of a giddy bounce. |
