Northeastern Bowl
The northeastern arc of the Weyr Bowl seems somewhat isolated from the rest of the weyr - with necessity, for this is the training grounds for young riders and dragons, the Weyrlings.  The main entrance to the weyrling barracks is just north of here, and the ground there is well-trampled and firm, as if many feet, both human and dragon, have wandered over it dozens of times a day.  Further up in the northwest corner of the bowl is the waterfall, tumbling out of the Weyr face several dragonlengths above, misting the area in a rainbow glow.  On the south side of the bowl lie the ashpits and firestone supplies for the entire Weyr.

Fareia wanders around the oh-so-familiar bowl, listening tube still draped around her neck from her earlier assitance in the infirmary. A couple of the half-awake growing dragons earn a smile from the healerite, and she continues on her walk, deciding whether or not to go pounce on the weyrlings in the barracks or sneak up on them when they come out. Hm...Maybe she'll just wait here.

Kiriya enters the bowl, looking for old friends... "Hmm, I haven't been here in a while.  Hey, Fareia, spot anybody familiar yet?"  She's oblivious to Suith of course.

"Oh, indeed! In fact, I think magnificence belittles it, really," D'baji beams to his dragon, giving the bronze a friendly slap in the... Well, foreleg, and shrugging. "Now c'mon... It wasn't that bad. And y'know, your takeoff was much nicer than Boyth's was... I remember seeing that one trying to fly, Faranth help us all..." Nverath is used to the praise, giving another little modest warble before his attention is rather taken away by the new people in the bowl. Oooh, and his rider will know one of the. Well, let's wobble right on over towards Fareia, then.

Suith trills... loudly. Suith is here, and do lavish her with the attention she well deserves, won't you? Upon her neck is her rider, fiddling with the straps -- of course, they're troublesome things. Finally buckled, he groans. "No... Suith, I don't care if people are here to pay attention to you, we should be going to the beach." Of course, arguing is futile, and the boy thumps the green affectionately on the side. "I guess it can wait, sure... I just wanted to sun a bit." And unbuckle goes the straps, and down goes the M'er. Quite cheerfully, he surveys the area.

M'er slides from Suith's neck and lands gently on the ground.

Fareia shakes her head to her fellow apprentice, clambering up onto a small rock to sit on. "Think we should wait for them, or go an' find 'em in the barra-Hellooo," she greets the dragon wandering her way. A smile goes to the dragon who seems to be slightly familiar, and she peeks around the bronze to spot Baji. "Deba!" she shouts,
uncharacteristically loud. The trilling dragon earns a surprised glance and another yell,"Mer!" With a giggly laugh she hops off the rock, running towards the nearest weyrling, which happens to be D'baji, figuring M'er will come over and join them.

BeamBeamBeam.  "Meraaaal!"  Of course she doesn't know his /new/ name, to be sure.  She notices the greenrider, and trundles good-naturedly, this Kiriyaesque little senior appy, up to M'er, arms outstretched.  "Haven't seen you in EONS!"

Nverath fans his wings in return of her greeting, halting midstep and settling back on his haunches to gaze rather analytically towards this screaming Healer-type. "Fareia," is D'baji's response, a smooth little response, at that, fully accompanied by a quirked half-grin, and an awkward little waggle of his fingers. As well as an instinctive step back as she comes bolting his way. "Hello, then. Long time since I've seen ya... You remember Nverath?" A rather dramatic swoop of the hand towards the Frothy Ridged One, who's now slowly inching his tail towards this Friend of D'baji's and Suith's Rider.

M'er is suddenly confronted with... old friends? Greenrider sprints closers, beaming. "Kiriya! Farie! KIRI!" Bam. Hug. Aw. Ain't he sweet. He pulls back, beaming. "I'm a rider, now! I never would have thought it possible!" Huggle again. Rush over, hug Farie. He's so nice and affectionate. And, well... Suith isn't. Not to people who don't notice Her, and love her rider and not Her. The little green trundles over, and crances her neck over the others with a habitual creel of loudness.

Kiriya arches her neck up at the dragon.  "This yours, Meral?"  Giggle.  "She's a cutie."  Hand is reached up toward the dragon in a gesture of friendliness.  "I can see why she picked you."  Wink, wink, grin grin.  "So what's your new name now, Meral?  Since /boys/ have to change their names of course."  Coy chuckle.

Fareia squeaks happily, hugging M'er back. What a nice lil' reunion. A chuckle goes to Deba,"But of course," she says in response to his comment about the dragon, reaching out a hand to pat the nearest surface of Nverath. The small green gets a glance and a smile,"Her name's Suith, right?" She was sent a list of all the dragons a few months ago which was since then lost in the endless pit of clothes piled into her trunk. And back to Deba she turns,"So, how's weyrlinghood going, hm?"

Nverath would giggle, if dragons could so such. What arrives instead is a ruffle of wings, and something of a derranged trill, as his tail is pulled back after having been patted. No one's ever done that before /he's/ touched /them./ He's intrigued now. Uh oh. D'baji rolls his eyes playfully towards the hugging people. "Weyrlinghood's... Interesting..." A glance around, and he leans forward to whisper, "Though there's this Senior Weyrwoman, and I swear..." Of course, almost the whole Weyr has heard of his troubles with authority, so it'd be only right that everyone else know as well. "It's good though. Nverath is allowed to fly now. As is everyone else. We can't ride 'em in flight yet, but it's rather nice to see that they can indeed do it. And 'Ver was thrilled..."

M'er watches the tail of the Frothy One inch closer. Suith warns the bronze with a protective hiss, and then turns to watch Kiriya, obviously sliding on that wonderful innocent, sweet mask. M'er chuckles as the green whuffles the Healerite, sniffing her quite shamelessly. "She wants fish, Kiriya. She likes fish." Beam. "And, I'm M'er now." Merman! Suith can be the loch nesss monster! "Yup. Suith." he responds to Fareia.

"Oooo.  Fishy girl.  Well, I happen to have a fish."  She takes out a nice fresh fish, caught from Ista Hold earlier in the morning, and dangles it in front of Suith off a stick.  Kiriya yawns a tad.  "M'er?  Interesting.  I was expecting M'ral or Me'al..."  Grin.  "Me'al.  What an odd thought.  Anyway... she's lovely!"  Squee.

Fareia stares curiously at Nverath with the wing ruffle, grinning widely at him as she's been doing the whole time. She arches an eyebrow Deba, as she has not had a chance to catch up with Weyr gossip. "Senior Weyrwoman?...Oh Baji, what've you done /now/?" It would be very like the bronzerider to get into trouble of somesort...and get caught. "Oh, I bet the little dragons are loving flying. Only time I've actually been on a dragon was when I got Searched. You have to promise me a ride when you graduate."

"Fish?" He was a fisherman, after all. So there are still certain phrases that will catch D'baji's attention. (For example, Fish, Cliffs, Sea, Pint, Barmaid, Ale, Beer...) A slightly puzzled look graces the man's face for just a moment, a raised eyebrow accompanying it. "She likes fish, really? Have to try Nverath on that one day... Maybe then Iona'll forgive us, eh?" is added as an afterthought towards his bronzen Companion. Nverath gives a bit of a reprimanding croon towards the green. Behave. They are in the presence of what seems to be old friends. "Alright, /I/ didn't do anything, I swear. Just forgot to salute. And forgot her title. And asked her for a broom, but that was before I knew who she was, you must note! And the other incident... Okay, that could've been mean." Fareia gets a grin along with his little speech. "Oh, Nverath will be more than honoured to offer a ride, he says," D'baji quotes as well for the dragon, his voice taking on a lightness that will often come when speaking for his lifemate. "He says he will show you the sky as it's never been seen."

"Me'al. Hah." MEALWORM! There. Yes, right /there/. Suith would rather the fish, though. She snatches the tiny fish -- tiny for her, atleast; and she's the smallest of the clutch. THe little green eats happily, while M'er just.. eyes Kiriya. "I don't want to know why you carry a fish around." Beam then goes on over to D'baji. "Oh, yes. It's her favorite -- and probably the only thing she'll eat without claiming it'll make her fat. She doesn't even obsess about going to exercise after eating fish -- and she says she can taste different flavors in a fish. I never knew there were flavors of fish -- I just thought, well, it's fish! FISH! Not klah, or whatnot." Beam. Oh, he can blabber on, can't he? Suith swallows her bit of fish, and peers over to Nverath with a cute expression -- one of those: why, do I look like I would so anything BUT behave? thingies. You know.

Kiriya oohs.  "Really.  Well, I don't always carry fish around- was going to eat that, but I think Suith'd like it lots more than I would.  I've a fetish for herdbeast myself."  Giggle.  "Flavors of fish?  To be honest, sometimes I think I can too, 'cause I've lived 'round the sea so long."  She chuckles to herself and leans on one foot.  "Though I think it strange."

"I'm just not a big fan of meat," she says delicately, figuring that they all knew this by now.  Fareia raises an eyebrow with a smirk as she responds directly to the bronze,"Oh will you, Nverath? Well then, you better not forget that you owe me that ride." She shakes her head at D'baji and says exasperatedly,"How could you not know who the senior weyrwoman was, Deba? That's just so like you, though..." No, she wouldn't put it past the former fisherman.

D'baji blinks with an obvious disbelief towards the greenrider, just shaking his head. "You can't taste the different flavours of fish? Seriously? Fish are one of the most varying things for the distinguished palate..." An eye goes to Suith, and he tilts his head. "She seems to know, if I interpret you right. And they're darned healthy too. My mother used to say that fish were a treat for the brain! Though they were really a treat of any kind. Sorta hard to acquire them in a desert, y'know..." And so the bronzer trails off ever-so-briefly. But now back to his defense. "Well... My back was turned to her. And I'd just broke my best charcoal... And 'sides, by then I was in a bad mood and... I'm still sure it's not /all/ my fault. Though I got to make a spiffy little craft as punishment..."

Preston chitters softly then lands on the ground, not far from the feet of the humans. His little eyes whirl about as he chitters for perhaps food. This little guy is always hungry. Perhaps he should go back to his human pet eh?

Gabriella smiles at everyone as she walks in. Having to  D'baji and Kiriya, her two friends, and nods to M'er since she doesn't know him. "Hey Kiriya. De....."stops herself and laughs softly, "D'baji. How are you doing?" Gabi places a hand on her hip and lifts an eyebrow as she looks at the group of people standing about.

D'baji turns an eye away from the departing Fareia as his name- what was nearly his old name, which brings something of a smile to his face- is called. "Oh... Hi..." Bronzer's memory fails him briefly, and he gives a good natured finger-wiggle her way instead, Nverath's head swivelling towards the newest visitor in added greeting. "Good, I suppose... You?" Ah, small talk. The joys.

Gabriella lifts an eyebrow and tilts her head at D'baji, "you don't remember my name D'baji?" Shaking her head she laughs good naturedly. She knows the boy has had alot on his mind with the new life-mate and everything, "Gabi." Thats all that is stated about her name, "And I'm doing okay. Just got over an illness so I'm very happy." Brushing bangs from her eyes she smiles and looks at Preston who is chittering at her for food. Like usual.

"Gabi," is agreed with a curt nod, bronzer reaching towards a rather nearby tale of a dragon and giving it a tap, silent suggestion that the bronze might not go and poke everyone he meets. So instead, the tail is pulled away and thrust towards Gabriella's foot. So much better. "I remembered your name, really," is lied. Oh, aye, D'baji's a liar. "So, this is Nverath," is added, a head-bob going to the tail-prodder.

Gabriella watches the tail with somewhat of a giggle leaving her, "Well met Nverath. I'm sure of it." Looking up at D'baji she shakes her head slightly, "So how have things been with the life mate? No time to cause trouble around the weyr anymore eh?" She shifts her weight to her right side so she is more comfterble, for now anyways.

D'baji crosses his arms over his chest with a blatant snort. "No trouble? Indeed, you seem to under-estimate me. I'm pleased to say that it's not even been a Turn, and I've had two encounters with the Senior Weyrwoman, and at least three with Yulianna, goldrider from Nverath's clutch. And that's just a start." It's a faux pride, but at least a reason to puff his big manly chest out. Nverath offers a croon in return towards the girl. Ah yes, and Nverath plunges the tail forward. It's on a collision course with the stranger's foot, by now. Nverath, aftera ll, does inspect things with his behind.

Gabriella glances down at the tail and laughs softly before her eyes trace back up to D'baji, "O I see. And I know who Yulianna is. I was at the hatching you know." She's upto date on that sort of thing ya know! Running her fingers threw her bangs she begins to twirl it about, "I'm sorry for under-estimating you. I haven't been an angel myself but I've taken it other places." For now anyways. "All my trouble makes have either left or gotten dragons and are a tad busy to mess with me now." Laughing softly she glances down at the tail once again.

D'baji tilts his head skeptically towards Gabriella. Didn't know what to think of her over his candidacy, and now he's not any better at deciphering this one. "Well, alright then. Don't apologise though, it happens far too much. Nverath's fault, I'm sure, he's much too gentle." The bronze, despite the jibes from the rider, goes about with his tail inspection, finally pulling the bum-limb back and giving a contented whuffle. Alright, this one isn't that bad, this Gabi. "Well, sorry for leaving you all alone then. Maybe once Nverath's a bit older and I'm not being punished for one thing or another..."

Gabriella laughs softly as she is inspected by Nverath's tail, "O its not your falt. I would of done the same thing." Her eyes follow the tail for a moment before returning to D'baji. Not many do know what to think of this girl and the ones who do are gifted. She's lost on things to say now so she just sort of stands there. Finally something hits the girl. Can we say ditz? "Don't worry about it. I'm fine on my own. I need to get a bit more, I think." Blinking a few time she laughs and takes out a meatroll, that is quickly feed to the chittering blue on her shoulder.

D'baji blinks at her for a good long time. Nverath's head is presented rather appropriately overtop his own, and he sends a quick caress under the dragon's jaw, and blinks at Gabi. And he yawns, and blinks at Gabi. And Nverath settles back, and D'baji blinks at Gabi. "Umm... Okay, then, I won't," is finally said. Don't always look for hidden meanings, Baji-boy. You'll get yourself into trouble some day.
Another weyrling pair emerge from their sanctuary, attracted by the lure of fresh sea air and as always, the sound of voices. Oo, it's D'baji and Gabi. "Hello Gabi, D'baji and Nverath. Nice day, is it not?" A deep breath is taken, lungs relishing the slightly saline air coming from the ocean.

Gabriella lets her smile grow as she sees B'ane. "Ah...Yes B'ane it is. How are you doing?" Brushing hair from her eyes once again she scowls at it. Hair...its annoying at times. Her arms now go limp at her side, they have been on her hips for a while now.

D'baji turns his head to his name being called, once again. Accompanied by Nverath's, as it should be. Big grin. Bigbig grin. A quick salute is given, because B'ane isn't a Senior Weyrwoman, or anything of the like, and deserves such a sign, along with a "B'ane! Hey there! And Aboleoth, of course. Good day to you too," is said in the direction of the bronze, Nverath's warble quick enough to follow his rider's statements.

B'ane halts when he approaches the pair and screens his surroundings 'fore returning his attention to the two in front of him. Mebbe Gabi should get her head shaved too? "I'm doing very well, thank you and yourself?" It's been quite some time since he's seen the young lady after all and even D'baji's presence has been missed during the previous days. The salute is returned belatedly and a small grin is added for good measure at the origin of the saluting. He holds no grudge against his fellow bronzer. Once his rider is done speaking, Aboleoth ensues with a short, sonorous herald to clutch brother Nverath and his life mate.

A full 18 turns now. Gabi is growning more and more each day. Making more and more trouble as well. Her green eyes spark with happiness. Seeing two of her old candi friends in one day is a great joy for her. Alot of her friends have been leaving but she says nothing of it.

D'baji would be terribly glad to know that there are no grudges against him. If only it mattered... Ah, the woes of riding Nverath and not caring about one thing while freaking out over another. Moving on. Nverath cranes forth a wing, accepting Aboleoth's hello.
OOC: D'baji dies a terrible death. The one where you can't pose anymore.

Gabriella sits down in the grass, she's grown tired of standing and she can talk just as well sitting down. Boredly she plucks a piece of grass and starts to fiddle with it...poor girl. You can tell she has a lot of time. 18 turns and still playing in the grass.

B'ane sees Nverath and is reminded of another question. "Has Nverath flown yet? I know it was practically a Sharding battle to get Aboleoth to come down the first time." Speak of the devil, the bronze has launched himself into the air with  no premature warning, but a small zephyr and a mirth trumpet of delight. "And there he goes again.." Eyes follow the airborne-one as he circles above with great strokes of his alae. Turning back to Gabriella, "What have you been doing as of late?" Perhaps the question will spark some interest..

D'baji nods to B'ane, taking a few steps back and giving the mighty Nverath's somewhat muscled chest a pat. "Yeah, a few times... He's rather good at it. Got a bit overzealous the first time and turned too sharp, but pulled out of it. It was rather pretty. The dragon flying with him wasn't too pleased, but..." Well, the rider's rather obviously proud. "Just went a while ago, actually. Where heading to bathe and... Maybe we should get on with it. Good to see you Gabi," is said with a quick bow and sloppy salute. "And B'ane, and Aboleoth, of course." The dragon's name offered upwards, mind.
