Central Bowl You stand in the center of the Ista Weyr bowl. You feel small as you crane your neck to look into the sky, at the towering five pinnacles of the Weyr rim, so tall they seem to reach into the clouds. The bowl floor slopes gently upward to the southeast, where various tunnels lead to the hatching grounds, ground weyrs, and living caverns. Across the bowl to the northeast are the weyrling barracks and training grounds. You can see the Weyr's artificial waterfall as it sheets down along the northern wall of the Bowl, its pool concealed at the base of the bowl by an ethereal cloud of mist. West, the entire wall of the bowl has been blown out by some long-distant eruption, and you can see clear out to the ocean from here. The view is breathtaking. Valanth ambles lanquidly in from the Northeastern Bowl. Nverath is really at his best in the morning. Even if it's somewhat later in the morning than, say, before dawn. But it is indeed morning. And the bronze is positively luminescent with something on an unexplained happiness for such a thing. Wings are stretched, folded, and restretched as he galumphs along, D'baji taking a skipping step to keep up with him. And Nverath is not only wing-stretching- he's humming as well. Something of a slow draconic tune, very low, as vocally he can go tremendously low, of which he's rather proud. And just wait 'till he gets bigger! And it ambles along, his little song, in time to the swishing of his tail and skipping of his rider, with occasional peaks, occasionally valleys, and all that stuff that a simplistic piece of music might need to be considered just that. Midafternoon and the large blue is stretched out across the bowl, half-asleep with is eyelids drooped over his facet eyes. The weather is pleasent, nice and warm as always. Jozzie comes in from the way of the Living Cavern, chewing on a sweetroll as several of her fair perch on her shoulders. "Well..." she continues to chat almost to herself- no, actually to her firelizards. Then as she eyes D'baji and his bronze Nverath, she grins. "Why, hello there!" she says cheerfully. Valanth sleepily wanders in with a hop, skip, and a j- no, no jump. Just a hop and skip. A whistling warble goes to Nverath in greeting as he wanders over to join the other blue, sprawling across the ground near the others, lazily flicking his tail while enjoying the pleasant spring morning. Nverath is still continuing with his knightly little song, tail swinging this way and that, when he and his rider are greeted. So tail wings towards Jozzie, and he uses that to pivot in something of a dance move (Think the ballet hippos from Fantasia) to face her, a soft warble to her issuing forth from between the notes of his song, and then a tail swish to the arriving Valanth. "Hey," is nodded amiably to Jozzie from the rider, a quick little salute making it's way across, simply as a matter of principle, mind. "Sweetrolls in demand?" is asked with a bit of a raised eyebrow towards the firelizards. Cause as far as he knows with his lot, firelizards don't just perch on a 'pet for no reason. Riyth raises his head to look over the pair of youngsters. That's what they are, youngsters. He whuffles in greeting as he seems to be in a rather joyful mood, despite that he is attempting to act as if he is he most laziest dragon in the weyr. "Yeah, but they aren't getting any. Little buggers." and as soon as her fair hears this, they suddenly take to between without much of a complaint. "Here I thought I would stop impressing them after the second one." she mutters as she approaches the weyrling. "So, how are you doing? I see Nverath is in a good mood this midmorning." Valanth warbles goodnaturedly back at the older blue, flicking his own tail in Nverath's direction, then settling his head back down on the grass, closing one eye to focus the other on a particularly interesting tree to his side. "If it's anywhere near morning, Nverath's bound to be happy," D'baji nods with faux exhasperation for his lifemate's tendencies, sending something of a teasing grin the bronze's way., and a bemused look for the now lack of a fair on Jozzie. "I'm alright. I bit tired mentally, 'Ver and I have been having some of our discussions, y'see... He's curious about everything. And he argues his point better than anyone else I know. It wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't always right," rider rambles on happily, while Nverath's song takes a dive towards the minor, almost mournful, sound. "And we met a harper earlier, so now he's taken to composing his own little works," is added for the most recent antic the Frothy Ridged One has taken up. "But really, in the end, alright. Yourself?" Jozzie smiles, seeming to understand D'baji almost completely as she eyes her ever curious, and always curious blue Riyth. "Oh, me? Delightful." she replies. "Lot of talk about weyr-stuff lately. You weyrlings sure do get a lot of talking about in the Living Cavern, although, I heard some rather nice coments about you lot." She licks her sticky lips and licks her fingers from the sweetroll. "Anyway," she begins again, "Doing well with lessons and all that? Dragons like to inquire a lot, believe me. Riyth still does and I thought it was just a stage when he was younger." Luckly the blue doesn't hear the comment as he is loathing over the little dragons. Valanth is a terribly curious dragon, even more so than most. Or maybe he's just a bit /too/ friendly. The tree that was being contemplated earns a questioning whistle as he stares as it, waiting for it to answer back. And it will, of course, answer back. Nverath is just about as big as Riyth, thank you very much. Well, give or take about ten feet... But still. hug However, the bronze is oblivious, waddling on closer to the blue, song still thrumming away in his throat, while D'baji rolls his eyes. "Yes, well... Nverath's problem is that he doesn't get the social aspects of things... The rest is easy, but it's political type stuff when we really get into the thick of it. I explain my reasonings, he tells me how very pointless and superficial they are... It's amazing, really." But then again, Nverath really is amazing. That's his job. "Lessons and that are alright, I suppose... I could do without the extras, though. Nverath gets bored with it. And I can't exactly say I've managed to sway away from being a bit stretched with keeping my attention firmly where it's supposed to be. It's rather apt to wander to other things." And a wary eye is cast over towards the blue. Y'see, that's why these shouldn't wander riderless... Cause really, as far as D'baji's concerned, he's far too young to be whistling at a tree... Kia strides in from the Northeastern Bowl. Riyth shouldn't even be wanding off on his own. Get gets into a lof of trouble when he sticks his muzzle into things, curious. Everthing is a simple experiment to him, an observation. He whuffles at the bronze as he rolls onto his side so that the sun touched every part of him. "I can see what you mean. Well, hopefully your dragons will grow large enough so you can ride them soon, that will be an experience." she says to D'baji. "Riyth got awfully excited and always wanted to go out riding when he was young." she explains. Kia steps into the central bowl her eyes searching and yes finding that quirky blue she calls her own "Valanth! I just knew you'd be out here while I was busy with chores. Find something new I see?" and now she's just skipping towards her lifemate a wave towards Jozzie and Baji as well but you see she's got to see just what it is her lifemate has found soooo interesting. Valanth snorts slightly as he doesn't get an immediate answer from the tree. A lucky breeze blows by, rustling the branches and Valanth gives an excited trill. See, this tree even /remembers/ him. It simply must. Better than the falling leaves or snapping branches he's gotten in response from the others. D'baji offers a weak little wave towards Kia, eek, she's skipping too, it must be a day for that, before turning his attention back to Jozzie. "Yeah, well. I lot of us could, I'm sure. He blinks and sidles a bit closer to the not-Weyrling of the blueriders, cupping a hand round his mouth and giving a quiet little "I bet it's the blues and greens we're waiting for. Cause the rest of 'em are almost as big as some of the full grown greens." Of course, he's confiding his suspicions in someone who, as AWLM, would probably know everything, but really, Baji's got no fear whatsoever of being laughed at. Well, not a major fear, anyway. Nverath is busy tilting his head towards Riyth. Perhaps one day he and the blue could get together, go flying and observing. Indeed, that would be a grand time. "But yeah, I'm hoping soon we can do that riding thing," is added in a less confidential tone, a step taken back from her again. "Though he's quite enjoying flying on his own, he, and even I, I suppose, are rather looking forward to the duo part..." Jozzie smiles to Kia, offering a wave in return. "G'day Kia, dear." she says to the weyrling as she gazes off to the smaller blue. The bluerider chuckles softly, "Umm, I don't think that's it though- D'baji." to his comment about blues and greens. "We just have to make sure that their bones are strong enough. Just because a brown, bronze, or gold is large- doesn't mean they are completely ready." she pauses for a moment. "/But/ size might have a little to do with it." Then she goes on, in a more general-audience tone, "There are many places to fly to around here." she mentions castually. "Lots of forests and coves- that sort of thing." Kia glances back as words actually reach her ears "Hey! Valanth isn't
slowing us down see Baji!" smirk see her lifemate is perfectly tiny and
that's alright :P turn back towards Valanth and his apparent triump of
comunicating with a tree "Oh you've been remembered! Mebbe when we get
our weyrs they'll let us take the whole tree or something?" eyeing the
tree she ponders "It might be too big though"
Valanth must be rubbing off on his dear rider or something. Oh well, that's perfectly fine. A blink at the tree and he edges his nose closer, nudging it slightly, quickly pulling back with a surprised snort as a branch or a fruit or a nut or something falls from the tree onto his nose. He whuffles at the tree, watching as the branches rustle again, not connecting that this might be caused by his whuffling. Valanth the Tree Speaker. D'baji shrugs to having been corrected, distracting himself quickly as Nverath launches into a new part of his song. A rather upbeat part, which gets his bum wiggling in what could almost be a dangerous way. "Well, I suppose it's good to make sure they're ready to." Oh, and is that just a hint of a sulk? "Forests, aye," he nods, pursuing the next topic not unlike a bunch of males after a proddy gold firelizard. "Nverath's been wanting to see them. Asking about where all we're gonna go. He likes the idea of forests the best. Though he wants to see all the beaches of Pern as well, he's decided, as I speak so highly of them, as do several other people. We'd love to go exploring though. Just as soon as we're allowed..." Kia gets a defensive little eep. "Hey, alright, I didn't mean him in general, but you have to admit... I mean, he /is/ smaller than 'Ver is. Not that it's bad. Really. Honestly." Please don't eat him. Ahem. And a grin for the thought of a tree. "Nverath'd give almost anything to be surrounded by trees. From what he's seen of 'em, he likes 'em. Thus the forest," is added to Jozzie. Jozzie looks across to Valanth, "Take a tree?" she inquires with confusion and light amusement too. The assistant weyrlingmaster folds her arms across her chest as she looks off to watch the blue for a moment or two. "Riyth likes to see anything and everything. He likes snow too, like at 'Reaches. We visit there sometimes when nothing distracts us here." She pushes her bangs behind her ear. Riyth is watching everything around him, humans and dragons. He watches the tree shake and rumbles softly as if it shouldn't be bruised. Kia giggles "I'd love to take you to see trees Valanth and you'll just love 'em no doubt. I don't know if they'll be nearly as friendly as this tree but we'll see." a wave of her hand at Baji "Ah that's alright long as you didn't mean anything by it. Zeja's Esmeyath /is/ almost as big as he is but we don't mind right Valanth? You're just gonna be quicker than any of the others." Valanth sidles back, plopping his big (well, relatively small) draggie but down next to the tree, wrapping his tail around the other side of it protectively. This tree is now acclaimed his tree. It's name? Tree. Jozzie earns a cheerful warble, as does Riyth. He wasn't hurting Tree, just inspecting it more closely. D'baji is just befuddled by Valanth. Then again, he can understand the joys of finding new friends, but really... Ah well, if he Impressed to Kia... "Yeah, suppose she is. But Esmeyath's special." His favourite green in the entire Weyr, truth be known. "Snow. Now that'd be good for Nverath to see. When we've graduated, maybe, we'll go... Just to take a look around, y'know, introduce him to some other dragons..." Wouldn't that be nice. "But Nverath and I were actually on our way to a bath, so... Y'know, gotta keep the sparkly hide all... Sparkly." D'baji. Human Thesaurus. "So maybe we can go around, you and Riyth, and me and Nverath, and see things eh?" Wave to Jozzie, and then evil grin at Kia. "And Buh-bye to you too. Careful with the trees now." That's to Valanth of course. Nverath ends his song on a beautiful crescendo, and wobbles right on after his rider. |
