HOW STUFF EXISTS AND HOW WE MEASURE IT

All STUFF is MATTER. MATTER has MASS, and VOLUME. The whole universe is a MIXTURE of MATTER and antimatter and light. HOMOGENEOUS MIXTURES have the same composition and properties throughout and HETEROGENEOUS MIXTURES have different composition and properties throughout. MIXTURES may be separated physically into pure substances. PURE SUBSTANCES have the same composition, properties and may be broken down further chemically. COMPOUNDS are pure substances which are composed of two or more chemically combined atoms. ELEMENTS are pure substances which can not be changed or broken down further chemically. ATOMS of different structures make up the elements. ATOMS contain a central NUCLEUS composed of PROTONS and NEUTRONS orbited by ELECTRONS.

All STUFF is measured by some type of machine, tool, or human sense. Each method used to measure stuff has its limitations. ACCURACY is how close a measurement is to the actual value. PRECISION is how close a set of measurements are to each other. Both accuracy and precision need to be accounted for in measurements and calculations. SIGNIFICANT DIGITS are used to account for the precision of measurements and calculations.

All STUFF is measured using units. There are seven BASE UNITS:

LENGTH
MASS
TIME
ELECTRIC CURRENT
LUMINOSITY
TEMPERATURE
AMOUNT OF SUBSTANCE.

Base units are combined to form DERIVED UNITS.

Some exsmples of derived units are:
velocity == length/time
electric charge == coulomb = Ampere*time
area == length*length
volume == length*length*length
flow rate == lenghth*length*length/time
acceleration == length/(time*time)
