Bev's Angel Page
I have a Guardian Angel (who doesn't?), but
I know the name of mine!
My dear angel's name is
'Varda'.
How do I know this? Well you see, I asked!
I prayed for it, and then quite unexpectedly this name came to me and I
thought I was imagining it, because I had never heard of such a name!
I actually thought that I must have made it up in my mind - as a sort of
hybrid - a cross between 'Narda' from the old Mandrake comic strip, and
'Vader' from Darth Vader in Star Wars! Honestly! I even looked
up an Italian dictionary, because it sounded sort of Italian, I thought,
but to no avail. So, I finally forgot all about it, not taking it
seriously!
Then, about six months later, I just happened to
be telling my son (who happens to be a linguist) about the incident, and
to my stunned amazement, he said quite matter-of-factly, "Yes, it is an
old Italian dialect word, that is obsolete now". Also, he continued
equally casually, "It actually means 'to guard' or 'to watch over'".
Wow!!! Well, you could have knocked me over
with a feather! No wonder I hadn't been able to find it in the standard
dictionary! However, the fact that stunned me most, and which I found
the most convincing, was that there was no way I could have known the meaning.
So, now I am convinced that I have the right name for My Guardian Angel
- Varda!
