FRIENDS

CONTINUED

Ray's son Gy seen here at practice with his band. I've known Gy most of his life. A good solid bass player, a good tankie, in fact, good at most anything when he wants to be. He's had some personal battles to fight and demons to conquer, and while not always successful he works at it.

Gy is ten years behind me, so I was "junior" out in the field untill he came up and could take over the name. Always like brothers, we had some good times along the way, did some crazy things, and both loved the "old man" even though that was a job at times. Gy's mother Dot was a great influence on both of us. She was the kind of person you always looked up to. She was also blessed with an infinite amount of patience which was tested many times over the years. We still remain close to this day.

Ted Elkins another Boilermaker and good friend. I met Ted on a Graver Tank job in Philadelphia, in 1978. He had worked for PDM in the southern division and happened to work for Joe Vanderbush on a water tower. Ted was always a lot of fun on the job and made things easier for everybody. We worked several jobs since that one and both ended up in the local. Ted took up flying a while back and he and I have been up several times, including a trip to Tangier Island and a flight up the Hudson River past NYC in the spring of '01.

Ted's wife Diane and their youngest boy "Jack The Ripper".
