Legend of the
Dream Catcher
Dreams hold great
power and drift about
at night.
To keep the dreamer safe,
the Dream
Catcher is hung above their sleeping place.
Dreams traveled
the web paths,
the bad dreams
lost their way and were entangled,
disappearing
with the first rays of daybreak.
The good dreams,
knowing the way,
passed through
the center and were
guided gently
to the sleeping ones.
*Note*
The Dreamcatcher is not a part of the Cherokee culture.
It has been said that it belongs to the Ojibway people of the north,
but because of popularity and commercialism, it has developed an intertribal
identity.
The Medicine
Wheel, which belongs to the Plains people,
has also become an intertribal symbol of goodwill, much like cedar,
sage and sweetgrass.
The
following pages are gleaned from the net.
They express what I feel but said so much better by
others. I do not mean to take credit for these
pages, only to share and maybe educate. Credit given when know....
