« Make a bluebird trail of your own! »

Just follow these easy steps...

  • Keep bluebird boxes in open rural country with scattered trees and shrubs.
  • Avoid areas close to buildings and places where pesticides(a chemical used to kill crop destroying insects) are used.
  • Place boxes near a road for easy monitoring but not to close because of the loud noise of cars or the danger of the car running into them.
  • You must visit the boxes 4-6 times a year with tools for repairs needed on the boxes.
  • Boxes should be placed in pair 15-30 feet apart and 200-300 feet between the pairs this will allow two different species to nest in the same location.
  • Face boxes away from the direction the wind usually is coming from.
  • Face boxes towards a perching spot(ex:tree limbs, fences, shrubs, or bushes) within 100 feet of the box.
  • Do not place the boxes inside a pasture.

If you follow these steps, they should help you to obtain the bluebird in your location!
