The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)

"You're so dead, you don't even know it." -Old Monty

I like this movie. A lot of people despise it, and a lot of people love it. People always ask "Which one do you like more?" and I always say I like the original and the remake the same. This film starts off with five teens on a road trip to a concert (similar to the original). The kids pick up a disoriented hitchiker on the side of the road. The girl gets in, mumbles some odd comments, and in the end blows her head off with her gun.

Sick and puzzled, the kids drive to a local redneck town with the body in the back of their car. They go to a little shop and ask for the sheriff, and they're directed to the Old Crawford Mill to meet the sheriff. After waiting they meet a little boy who directs Erin and Kemper to an old farmhouse for help. While Erin helps an old man who lives in the house, Kemper gets whacked with a sledge hammer. Meanwhile the sheriff shows up and takes the body.

Then Andy and Erin go back to look for Kemper, and Andy gets his leg sawed off and Erin runs back to the mill where Pepper and Morgan are waiting. Then the sheriff shows up and the kids are busted for marijuana and Morgan is taken away, leaving Pepper and Erin at the van where they get attacked by Leatherface and his trusty saw.

This is an excellent remake, it uses lots of good camera work, has great moments, and good kills. Leatherface is new and improved, and is pretty scary. Overall this is an exceptional remake, worthy of the original in my opinion.
