Haravrd Man Casting News

School's in for Sarah Michelle Gellar: James Toback has announced the all-star line-up for the upcoming Harvard Man.

The TV slayer will be joined by NBA star Ray Allen, who made his acting debut in Spike Lee's He Got Game, in the story of a Harvard basketball star who's lured into a gambling scheme with the mob to fix games.

Gellar's Scream 2 co-star Rebecca Gayheart (also of Jawbreaker fame), Joey Lauren Adams (Chasing Amy, Big Daddy), Adrian Grenier (Cecil B. Demented, Drive Me Crazy), and indie fave Eric Stoltz (Pulp Fiction, Killing Zoe) round out the cast.

Robert Downey Jr., a frequent Toback leading man, has been mentioned to co-star, which would be tricky, since filming is scheduled to begin this month. Downey's currently serving a three-year sentence for a parole violation.

The film is pegged for a summer 2001 release, according to Variety.

"Harvard Man has a terrific premise, a gifted director in James Toback, and a wonderful cast," Tom Ortenberg, co-president of Lions Gate Films, tells the Hollywood Reporter. "We think this is a project with great commercial potential."
