Here are the details you need on dragons and bonding. Size, colors, mating flights, it's all here. If there are any more questions, something not answered on the site, mail me! It's dragonluver4@juno.com .
Size, Shape and Colors.
Size: Females are the largest. The largest female is the Queen. The Queen is usually about the length of a football field. The other females are significantly smaller, about three fourths that size. Males are half the size of a queen.
Shape: Dragons have long necks, long snoughts, hard or soft neck and spinal ridges and crests. They have wings (obviously) and four legs. Their hind quarters are generally stronger than the front, and the tails are thick at the base and thin at the tip. Often, the spinal ridges extend all the way down the dragons tail.
Colors: Dragons come in every color imaginable, and often have primary and secondary colors. White and black are rare, and green, blue and red are very common.
Hoards: Dragosn keep hoards. Jewels, silk, anything that catches their eye.
Bonding
Hatching-There are about ten to fifteen eggs in a clutch. Queen eggs are rare, and female eggs don't always appear in every clutch. Only queens lay queen eggs, and only the longest and most strenuous flights produce them.
Candidates- Boys and girls between the ages of ten and twenty five can apply for candidacy. Many are taken, and those who don't bond are allowed to try again. The Hatching Hall is a large room, with the eggs in the middle, surounded by a circle of stones. The mother dragon is protective, and keeps her hoard surrounding her eggs. Only family and riders are allowed at the hatching.
Bonding Itself: The dragons hatch, and choose their partner. Usually the choice has been made in the egg, as candidates are allowed to be with the eggs before they hatch. The dragons speak to their bondmate first, though they speak to whomever they wish after that. Bonding is not gender specific, and female dragons bond with men, and males with women. The mother names the dragon in the egg.
Training and other stuff
Dragons take about a year to mature. Females rise to mate at their riders urging or when they feel like it. Riders are not very affected, unless they choose to be.
Basic battle training starts at one year. Dragons wear armor in battle, and riders are trained in lance fighting.
Dragons do not breathe fire. They do not have magic. But they are agile and the mindbond with their riders make them excellent for fighting.
