The Curse

The Curse

Okay this is a HUGELY daniel episode and I really like it so I've done it in quite a lot of detail....sorry!! I've also missed out all the non daniel scenes...okay i was being lazy. But if you haven't watched them you should. The Jack/Sam and Jack/Teal'c interactions are quite funny.

This episode starts with a whole bunch of Egyptian rocks...sorry artifacts all labelled. The final artifact an overly designed jar. It has a face carved on it of an Egyptian god, we later find out it must be Osiris. A old man, maybe about 60 picks up the jar, looks at it for a while than jots down some notes on a pad next to him.

Another man comes in saying they can do a test on the Jar. He is a lot younger, Steven. We also find out that the old guy is Dr. Jordan. Steven doesn't want to give the jar back to the Eypgtian Goverment, neither does Dr. Jordan really, but he realizes that it's necessary.

At the SGC, Daniel comes walking into the briefing room with an armful of papers and his ever present mug of coffee. He says hi to Jack, the only person in the room. "Hey," Jack replies. He's raeding a tabloid magazine.

Daniel stares at both it and Jack, probably wondering what Jack is doing reading that stuff. "What's that?" he asks Jack.

Jack: "Ummm, Teal'c's into this stuff, I don't get it," Jack folds the mag and starts reading horoscopes.

Daniel glances once, at the page facing him, then goes back for a second and third look. "Let me see that," he says snatches it out of Jack's hands.

Jack: *a little annoyed* "Okay..."

Daniel: "Oh my god,"

Jack:"What?"

Daniel: "He's dead."

Jack: "Who?"

Daniel: "My Archaeology professor." The page he's looking at has a picture of Dr. Jordan. Above his picture the headline reads 'Curse of Osiris Returns......Noted Archaeologist dies in lab explosion.' Daniel finishes reading the article his eyes showing his obvious pain and shock.

The next scene is of Dr. Jordan's funeral. Steven giving a eulogy. "Dr. David Jordan was a teacher, a celebrated author, a much-revered expert in the field of archaeology, and yet to the end he remained first and foremost, a student....guided by the simple desire to discover and understand. It is fitting then that a man who dedicated his life......" Steven pauses, spotting Daniel (in a black/grey silk suit looking amazingly cute!!) standing further away his eyes fixed on the ground. Steven is stunned but continues. ".....who dedicated his life to the wonders and majesties of long dead civilizations should himself gain a measure of immortality through that very accomplishment. I worked with Dr. Jordan for close to fifteen years. He was like a father to me, through his many successes, and *he stares at Daniel* some of his bitter disappointments. I will remember him always as a dedicated archaeologist, a kind and generous man, and a true friend," Steven finishes and walks away, taking another look at Daniel.

The funeral is soon over and when no one is around the casket, Daniel comes up to the flower-covered coffin to pay his respects before it is lowered into the ground. There are still mourners nearby and one of them is Steven, who turns to look at Daniel with what appears to be resentful contempt. "The prodigal son returns," Steven says loud enough for Daniel to hear him, but not too loud. Daniel turns his head and sees him, really looking at him this time. "Steven?" he says in question, and Steven walks toward him. A woman with curly reddish-blonde hair standing behind Steven turns around to face Daniel. She smiles at him. She is Sarah, British and she seems very close to ou Daniel babe. Steven says that Dr. Jordan was killed by a gas leak.

"I'm glad you're here," Sarah says. Daniel looks up at her, a puzzled frown knotting his brow. He turns and begins walking away. Sarah follows him but Steven is staring at the casket with the look of resentment still clouding his face. When Sarah passes him, he turns and follows after her.

Sarah: "So, how long's it been? Four years?"

Daniel: "Five."

Steven: "What have you been up to?"

Daniel: "Uh, I've been busy."

Sarah: "Really? I've looked for signs of you out on the fringes. There's been no papers, no research projects. It's like you fell off the face of the earth,"

Daniel: "Yeah, it is a little like that, isn't it?" (LOL)

Steven: "As I recall, the last time I saw you, you were giving a lecture to an empty room,"

Daniel: "Ah, uh, well, it was full when I started," *not rising to Steven's bait.*

Steven: "Maybe the world wasn't ready to hear that the pyramids were built by aliens, or was it men from Atlantis?"

Sarah: "Steven, please,"

Daniel: "Yes, Steven, please,"

Steven walks around them and stands in front of Daniel, confronting him. "Why did you come? You managed to stay away all this time. If you're looking for closure, Daniel, I'd say you were a little late," Steven snaps and walks away, toward his car. Daniel is obviously upset at his remarks but can't bring himself to attack back.

"Always a pleasure, Steven," Daniel painfully calls after him.

Steven turns to look at Daniel as he reaches his car, gets in, and drives away. Sarah seems embarrassed by Steven's attack.

Daniel: "So, you doin' anything, or?" he says, obviously calling up an old in-joke because he flashes a broad, embarrassed smile.

Sarah: "No, I'm all yours." They begin to take a walk on the grounds. "I'm sorry," she continues, "Steven's not usually like this. The last couple of days have been really hard on him"

Daniel: "Steven? No, he's right. I should've come back sooner. I guess I was.......afraid I wouldn't be welcome."

Sarah: "You joking? Even after everything that happened, Dr. Jordan never thought any less of you. You were his best student."

Daniel: "Who became the laughing stock of the archaeology community."

Sarah: "He kept hoping you'd find proof, something to shut everyone up."

Daniel: "No, he thought I was nuts."

Sarah: "That's not true. Why do you think it's so hard for Steven to see you here? He's always been in your shadow. Even after you left."

Daniel: "I hear his book's on the best seller list."

Sarah: "I know. He's getting a Porsche." "Ow!"

Sarah: "I know," and they both laugh. "Look, I have to admit, I thought you didn't come back because of me," and she sits down on a bench.

Daniel: "No, no, that's not it," he says, not looking directly at her.

Sarah: "We could have ended it better then we did," she says with softness.

Daniel: "Maybe," he says. "The truth is I got caught up in something......incredible."

Sarah: "You found something, didn't you? Something that supports your theory. Tell me," he stays silent. "Come on...."

Daniel: "I can't."

Sarah: "Daniel!"

Daniel: "Okay, let's just say that what the world knows about ancient Egypt barely scratches the surface. The truth is more incredible than any of us dare to imagine."

Sarah: "Now that's the Daniel I remember, Come on. I want to show you something." She holds out her hand. Daniel takes it without hesitation.

At the Museum in Chicago, Illinois, Sarah brings Daniel to the artifact room, which looks like a library room with a bunch of artifacts on a central table. The walls have filled bookshelves and the door to this room is double with glass panes. "I thought you might like to see what we were working on before the accident," she tells him as they enter.

Daniel: "Wow. This stuff is incredible."

Sarah: "I only wish we had more time with them. The Egyptian government's made a formal request for their return so we're desperately trying to learn all that we can before the deadline."

Anyway Sarah is trying to look for something, the gold amulet, but it's not there. (The last time we saw it Steven had it)

"Excuse the state of things. Budget cuts. I'm straightening the mess up, but these things take time." A small woman, the curator of the museum has led Daniel down to the basement where the cataloguing of the items is made before they are shipped upstairs through the freight elevator.

Daniel: "Oh, I understand,"

Curator: "So what am I looking for?"

Daniel: "Uh, there's something missing from the Stuart Expedition."

Curator: *nods* "The Isis Jar."

Daniel: "No, actually, I'm referring to a gold amulet with a little ebony...ummmm....uh, it's listed as item 14c."

Curator: "That was sent up to Dr. Jordan along with the rest of the artifacts." "You sure?"

Curator: "I sent it myself. I can show you the paperwork."

Daniel: "No. Umm, what this uh, uh, Isis Jar you were talking about?"

Curator: "I'll show you," and they walk around one free-standing metal bookshelf. "The damn crate was mislabelled. I only found it a couple of days ago." She attempts to reach the object, sitting on the top shelf. Daniel offers to get it for her.

Daniel: "Uh, this one," he reachs for it.

Curator: "Oh, yeah," she says gratefully. She points to a secondary collar around the neck of the figurine, which is a canopic jar, and matches the jar that Dr. Jordan was examining. "I've never seen those symbols before. Have you?"

Daniel: "Uh, yes. I'm gonna need to do a translation."

Curator: "Well, if you need me, I'll be in the back cataloguing the Polynesian death masks," the curator says and departs.

Daniel holds up the decorative jar in the room's overhead light, and then gets out his cell phone and dials. In one of Sam's labs, she's hard at work on the repair or upgrade of an antique Indian motorcycle. The phone rings and she gets up to answer it. "Carter."

Daniel: "Sam, it's me,"

Sam: "Hang on a sec," Sam puts the phone on her shoulder. "Thanks for your help, Sergeant," she says to Sgt. Siler, who'd been helping her on her project.

Siler: "Yeah, no sweat, Major," and he gets the hint and leaves.

Sam (to daniel): "Where are you?"

Daniel: "Uh, still in Chicago. I'm in the basement of a museum looking at what appears to be an Egyptian burial jar."

Sam: "Okay."

Daniel: "Which may not seem out of the ordinary in a museum, granted, but there's something else besides the usual hieroglyphs. There's a second set of markings. They're Goa'uld symbols."

Daniel is back at the SGC and in a briefing with Sam and General Hammond, he syas that the Isis Jar might belong to a Goa'uld. General Hammond orders Sam to analyse it's contents. And then Daniel says there's supposed to be another Jar too. He's going back to Chicago to see if he can find it.

Back in Chicago, Daniel enters the office of the curator. He tries the lightswitch by the door but it doesn't work. "Hello," he calls out, but no one answers. He tries another switch. Nothing. "Hello," he repeats. Then he finds a flashlight and begins to look around. He passes next to the free-standing bookshelves and beyond his light, we see a shadowy figure pass in front of him. Daniel notices and moves in that direction. He then hears a sound off to his left and swerves his flashlight over to it. The light lands on Steven's face, who puts up a hand to shield his eyes.

Steven: "Do you mind?"

Daniel:"What are you doing here?"

Steven: "What are you doing here?" Steven asks back.

Daniel: "I asked first,"

Steven: "I work here, Daniel, remember? I'm looking for the breaker box, wherever the damn thing is."

Daniel:"Um, right, um, I had a few questions for the curator."

Steven: "Uh, I don't think she's here. The lights were out when I came in. What did you want to ask her about?"

Daniel:"I....needed some information about some items from the Stuart Expedition. There's something missing," and Daniel moves off to find the breaker box himself.

Steven: "There's nothing missing" *following Daniel*

Daniel:"A canopic jar with some hieroglyphs and some unusual markings."

Steven: "The Osiris Jar," Steven replies. Daniel turns to flash the light at Steven.

Daniel: "Yes," Daniel says.

Steven: "Destroyed in the explosion."

Daniel: "You sure about that?"

Steven: "Yes, positive."

Daniel: "Okay, well what about this, uh, gold amulet?"

Steven: "If you're looking to get back together with Sarah that's your business, I couldn't care less. But I do have a problem with you coming here and involving yourself in my work."

Daniel: "Don't you mean Dr. Jordan's work?"

Steven: "No, my work. Sarah and I were Dr. Jordan's assistants. You haven't been involved since you walked out on him."

Daniel: "I didn't walk out, I was....trying to protect him."

Steven: "You mean you distanced yourself from him to spare him the embarrassment of being associated with you. Daniel, you really should not have come back."

Daniel finds the breaker box and resets the switch and turns the power back on. "Look, I don't want to get into this right now with you, but you need my help," and Daniel walks toward the freight elevators. Steven gets this look of surprise on his face and follows him.

Steven: *sarcasm dripping from his voice* "Why? Do you think there might be an alien involved?" . Just as he says that, the freight elevator comes down to meet them, and on the floor of it is the body of the curator. Blood is spilled near her head. "Oh God," Steven says with wide, horrified eyes. Daniel just grimaces, as if he's not too surprised. At the medical lab in the SGC, Sam puts the Isis Jar in the Resonance Chamber and then runs a computer-enhanced MRI, on the screen we see a Goa'uld symbiote inside the Jar. Back in Chicago

Daniel : "The police said the museum curator took a fatal blunt trauma to the skull."

Sarah:"They don't think that you had anything......"

Daniel: "No, they don't think that, but, of course, Steven certainly didn't do anything to dissuade them from suspecting me; but fortunately, I know a few....people. Anyway, they found a few bricks at the bottom of the elevator shaft and they think that they came from the wall above and....a freak accident."

Sarah:"You know the papers are saying the 'curse of the mummy' strikes again."

Daniel: "You have any pictures of the Osiris Jar, the one that was destroyed in the explosion?"

Sarah: "Yeah, here" Opening a folder, she hands him two 5x7 pictures, one of Isis, the other of Osiris. He flips through them, then compares both.

Daniel: "I can't make out the inscription around the collar."

Sarah: "They were unable to identify the symbols, but Dr. Jordan copied them in his notebook. *shows him notebook* Those markings are unlike anything we've ever seen before. They're not Egyptian."

Daniel: "No, they're not Egyptian." "So what are they?" she asks.

Daniel: "What...are...they..."

Sarah: "You've know. How?"

Daniel: "Let's just say I can't really go into it right now, but this is very important. Did Dr. Jordan do any kind of preliminary tests on the jar?" "Not that I know of, but he kept all his lab results in the computer." *She starts working on getting into his files*.

At the SGC quarantine lab, Dr. Frasier has the Isis jar in a lab incubator. There are guards standing nearby waiting to see if the encased Goa'uld is alive. Sam is standing next to her, watching. Janet removes the head piece of the jar and with her glove protected hands, inserts forceps into the jar to pull out the symbiote. She pulls out the head. Both Janet and Sam look a little disgusted. Janet takes the goa'uld fully out of the jar: "It's dead. We can relax." She next takes a scalpel and makes an incision just below the winged head of the creature. She slices downward about two inches. Fresh liquid escapes the body and Sam still looks sick. She says that it's perfectly preserved, may as well have died yesterday! The next scene shows Sarah looking for something in Dr. Jordan's files, she doesn't find it.

Sarah: "Something's wrong."

Daniel: "What?"

Sarah: "Dr. Jordan's files are gone. Everything's been wiped clean. Including his email account."

Daniel: "Do you keep backups?"

Sarah: "Yeah, they're not here!" *starts typing up something else*.

Daniel: "What are you doing?"

Sarah: "The system marks file space that's been deleted as 'tombstone'. It regularly scours the database for tombstone values and marks them as files to be overwritten. There's usually a window of about 30 days before that happens so I might be able to retrieve the files before the tombstone values replicate through the network." The scan brings up some data. "Got something. The professor received one message on the night he died. Well, I'm guessing he never got round to reading it." She opens message file. It shows a short message accompanied by a complicated looking computer graph thingy. The message reads: I just finished the carbon date on the amulet you sent. It seems incredible that the amulet dates back at least 10,000 years. Congratulations. It seems you have got a hell of a find on your hands.

Sarah: "Oh my god, Daniel. It's over 10,000 years old. This means you were right all along."

Daniel: "Yeah, I know."

Sarah: "Egyptian civilization must be thousands of years older than we assumed."

Daniel: "Sarah, you can't tell anyone about this."

Sarah: "What are you talking about? This is exactly the evidence you've been looking for. It completely validates your theory."

Daniel: "Look, all we've got is one carbon dating analysis on a missing artifact."

Sarah: "So, we can contact the technician who performed the analysis." As Sarah looks at the screen, she gets a shocked look on her face. Daniel notices and asks "What?"

Sarah: "Dr. Jordan wasn't the only one to get these results." *The message has a copy sent to Dr. Rayner. "Steven."

At the SGC again, Janet and Sam are giving General Hammond a report on the Goa'uld in the Jar.

Janet: "By all rights, that goa'uld symbiote should be a dried up, desicated husk, but instead, it's in perfect condition. Now, at first we thought it had been preserved, like a specimen in formaldehyde, but now we're not so sure."

Hammond: "What do you mean?"

Sam: "Well, sir, the outside of the jar is ceramic but the inside, it's a technologically advanced containment vessel. There's a tiny Naquadah power source designed to emit a low-level electrical charge."

Hammond: "Why?"

Sam: "We can't be certain yet, sir, but my guess is that it's some sort of stasis chamber."

Janet: "From what we've been able to gather, sir, we think that the symbiote was alive when it was placed inside."

Hammond: "Why would it allow itself to be removed from it's host and placed in stasis?"

Sam: "We don't believe it had a choice, Sir."

Janet: "You see, the liquid inside the jar seems to have sedative properties. Now, if it's maintained at the proper temperature and if it's provided with sufficient electric charge, it could probably keep the symbiote alive indefinitely."

Hammond: "Then why is it dead?"

Sam: "The seal was broken. Presumably during transport."

Hammond: "Major, if what you're saying is true, and the second jar survived the trip unscathed....."

Sam: "Yes, sir. There could be a Goa'uld out there."

Daniel is down in the basement again and scanning the rest of the artifacts from the expedition with a Naquadah scanner. He isn't finding anything else that emits a power source.

Sarah: "Daniel? *Daniel puts away the scanner* There you are. I've been looking all over for you."

Daniel: "Yeah, I was just doing a little extra research."

Sarah: "I went by Steven's place and he's gone. He's just packed up everything and left."

Daniel: "I know"

Sarah: "You think he stole the amulet, don't you?"

Daniel: "Yes."

Sarah: "To stop your theories from being proven correct?"

Daniel: "Uh, it's possible, anyway I have to find him."

Sarah: "Well, I'll come with you."

Daniel: "No, it's too dangerous."

Sarah: "We're talking about Steven here."

Daniel: "Sarah, there've been 3 deaths already."

Sarah: "Three?"

Daniel: "They found the body of the technician who did the carbon dating on the amulet."

Sarah: "Daniel, I know Steven. He may be capable of a lot of things, but he's no murderer."

Daniel: "Well, you may not know him as well as you think you do, at least not any more."

Sarah: "What's that supposed to mean?" Daniel doesn't answer. "Oh, let me guess, you can't explain, right?"

Daniel: "Sarah..."

Sarah: "Well, what do you expect, Daniel? You show up after five years but you can't say where you've been. You've got this mysterious ability to read an ancient language which nobody's ever seen before but you can't explain how. And when we finally find the evidence today that will vindicate you in front of the entire archaeological community, you want to cover it up. What is going on?" Daniel bows his head, but still doesn't say anything. "This is me, Daniel."

Daniel: "I know" still avoiding eye contact.

Sarah: "Then why can't you trust me? What have you been doing for the past five years?"

Daniel: "I want to tell you, Sarah. *looks into her eyes* I do, believe me. I wish you could see some of the things I've seen. But the world's not ready to know. Not yet."

Sarah: "I'm not asking you to tell the world. I'm asking you to tell me." he still says nothing and she gets indignant. "This is my life's work, too, Daniel." He walks past her, not answering. She remains standing where she was, turns her gaze to follow him, and gets mad at him.

Sarah: "So, you're working for the government? What? Daniel!"

Daniel: "I'm sorry."

Sarah: "You're just going to disappear again, aren't you?"

Daniel: "Yes."

Sarah: "I think Steven was right. You never should have come back." Daniel sighs and leaves her standing there.

Daniel in giving a report back at the SGC.

Hammond: "You believe this Steven Rayner has been taken over by a Goa'uld?"

Daniel: "Well, it makes sense."

Sam: "So, how do we find him?"

Daniel: "Right now, this is our only lead. *On the computer screen in front of them is a picture of the amulet* It's the amulet that was stolen from Dr. Jordan's office. Now by earth standards, it's a priceless relic, but I'm assuming a Goa'uld isn't interested in it's monetary value, so..."

Sam: "Then why take it?"

Daniel: "That's a good question. It's a pretty standard representation of Osiris. He's carrying the kuke and flail which are the symbols of kingship, and in the center is an ankh, which is the Egyptian symbol for immortality."

Hammond: "Could it be some sort of Goa'uld device?"

Daniel: "It's possible."

Sam: "Well, that might explain why it was the only item taken."

Daniel: "Well, I checked the other artifacts for any indication of Naquadah, which is a sure sign of Goa'uld technology, and I came up empty."

Hammond: "Assuming this Goa'uld is Osiris, what does he want?"

Daniel: "Well, he's been out of the loop a long time. He doesn't know what happened to Seth or Ra. He could be looking for the Isis Jar."

Sam: "Or a way off the planet."

Hammond: "I've alreay put the base on alert."

Later on Sam, General Hammond and Daniel [*sigh* Daniel....oh come one so far i've been really good with the mindless babble ;)] are with Janet in the medical lab where Janet is filling tiny dart syringes.

Janet: "I managed to synthesize the liquid from the jar, so on it's own it should act as a powerful sedative. And one dart should be more than enough to knock out an Goa'uld."

Sam: "Do we really want this thing alive?"

Daniel: "Well even though it's been in stasis for several thousand years it could still be a valuable source of information."

Hammond: "I want you to hold that option in reserve. Your priority is to stop the Goa'uld with minimum risk to yourselves."

The phone rings and Janet answers it. "Frasier. Yes, he's right here. Sir?" Hammond gets on the phone. "Hammond. Yes. Alright, thank you." Daniel is examining the darts in the pouch bag that Janet gave him. The darts are shot through an air rifle.

Hammond: "We got a lead on Steven Rayner. He boarded a flight to Cairo four hours ago."

Daniel: "He could be headed back to the temple in Egypt where the jars were first discovered. If we leave now, we can head him off, sir."

Hammond: "I've alerted the Egyptian government but this has to be a low-profile operation. Dr. Frasier will accompany you." Janet's eyes get wide with surprise, as well as Daniel's.

Within hours, Daniel is driving the three of them across the Egyptian desert in a desert-terrain jeep. All of them are wearing civilian clothes, but their gear is packed with their own weapons, including Daniel's dart gun and darts, each of the 8 darts filled with Janet's concoction. At a rise, Daniel stops the vehicle.

Janet: "I think I know why this place doesn't get any tourists."

Sam: "According to the GPS, we've still got another ten miles." He pulls out again.

Steven has reached the 'tomb' entrance, which is mostly buried in the desert sand. Only the top portion of the door frame can be seen. He shines his flashlight up at the ceiling and around the walls. He is smiling probably at the thought of seeing all of this himself. His light shines on the far wall that faces the entrance. The light illuminates a two-tiered altar carved directly into the wall, and above it is an elaborately decorated and beautiful painting of Isis and Osiris. He sees carvings on the top tier of the altar and they are similar to the design of the amulet that he stole. He takes off his backpack and takes out the amulet. He removes it's wrappings and looks at it, comparing it to the carvings. He places the ankh portion of the amulet over the ankh portion of the carving. Suddenly the altar is divided into three parts as the center of it rises. Hidden within is a brilliantly orange-lighted inner shelf. On this shelf sits a Goa'uld ribbon hand device. Steven stands there open-mouthed and dumbfounded. He eventaully regains his composure and steps forward, removing the device from the shelf. He begins to put the thing on his left hand when a noise from behind distracts him. When he turns around to look, he inhales sharply.

Daniel's jeep pulls up next to the burial site. Daniel, Sam and Janet get out and move to either side of the entrance. Daniel holds up the dart rifle and loads a dart into it. Then Sam motions to them as she carefully enters, Janet following her and Daniel at the back. They come down a flight of stairs. They see nothing at first. Daniel keeps his rifle held up and continually looks behind him as they enter further into the chamber. Then Sam and Daniel's lights find Steven, who is lying prone on the floor. "Steven..." Daniel identifies him. Sam bends over him as Daniel shines his light on Steven's face.

Sam: "I'm not sensing anything. He's not Goa'uld." She moves away and Janet bends down next to him, beginning to examine him. When Janet touches him, he wakes up startled, afraid. "Steven....." Daniel says, hoping his familiar voice will calm him.

Janet: *almost whispering* "He's bleeding internally"

Daniel: "Steven, it's me."

Steven: "Danny?...." (hhhmm at least he didn't try for Danny-boy!!)

Daniel: "What happened?"

Steven: "I took the amulet. It's over ten-thousand years old. Your theory was right all along. I'm sorry." He cries out in pain as Janet continues to examine him.

Janet: "Alright, just take it easy, okay, I need you to hold still."

Daniel: "It's okay. She's a friend. What about the jar?"

Steven: "Huh?"

Daniel: "The Osiris jar, did you open it?"

Steven: "No" his tone indicates that he thinks Daniel is losing his mind.

Daniel: "Why did you come here?"

Steven: "I figured out the amulet was a key. There's a hidden chamber. I wanted to make the discovery." Steven loses consciousness again.

Janet: "Daniel, we have to get him out of here!"

Daniel: "Steven, who did this to you?" Daniel asks, but Steven doesn't respond. From out of the darkness, footsteps from sandals are heard and a figure is illuminated from the doorway light. A figure approaches, hooded in white linen, with long, curled red hair: Sarah.

Sarah: "I did" she says with a Goa'uld voice and her eyes glow. Janet, Sam, and Daniel all jump to their feet and aim their guns.

Daniel: "Sarah?" Daniel asks, pointing the rifle at her, but not firing. Sam and Janet both begin to fire their guns but Sarah raises her hand, now wearing the ribbon device, and activates it. It throws first Sam back, then Janet. Each hit the back wall and collapse, stunned.

Daniel fires the rifle but Sarah brings her hand over quickly and the energy from the ribbon device easily deflects the dart. Then Sarah walks quickly toward Daniel as he struggles to get his pistol out of it's cover. But he's not quick enough for she grabs his neck with her non-device hand, making him drop to his knees. The gun is knocked away and it hits the ground. She has Goa'uld strength so he's not really a fair match for her (ohh okay there are a lot of people he's not really a fair match for!!)He tries to free himself, but she squeezes his throat harder, making him gasp for air.

Sarah/Osiris: "Daniel Jackson *smiles cruelly* you seem to know much of the Goa'uld, much more than any other human I have encountered since my awakening. Now, tell me. Where is the Stargate?"

Daniel: "I don't know what you're talking about," he says. She gets disgusted and twists his head away from her, causing him to fall backward several feet.

Sarah/Osiris: "Insolence!!" He gasps loudly at the pain and holds his throat as he manages to get to his knees. She walks away, looking around the temple chamber. "This temple was once filled with worshippers."

Daniel: "Yeah, well, times have changed."

Sarah/Osiris: "So I have observed. Where is my brother Setesh?"

Daniel: "You mean Seth. Ahhh, he's dead. We, ahh, we killed him." *motioning his thumb at Sam and Janet, including them as 'we'*

Sarah/Osiris: "You lie."

Daniel: "No!! No, we also killed Ra, and Hathor, and ah, who else....um, Sokar."

Sarah/Osiris: "Then you have done me a great favor. I will rule without opposition."

Daniel: "No, no you won't rule at all because we don't worship false gods anymore."

Sarah/Osiris: "You have come far, it is true. But you are still weak. Even now you are torn between your desire to kill me and your concern for my host. She who freed me from my long sleep." *The Goa'uld walks toward Daniel again*. He has regained some of his composure but is still feeling light-headed. He looks over at her when she gets close enough.

Sarah/Osiris: "What do you know of my queen?" When he doesn't answer, it gets closer still and senses that he has to say something.

Daniel: "Um, she was trapped like you. We have the jar."

Sarah/Osiris: "Where is it?"

Daniel: "I'm not gonna tell you." (does this sound like 'nananana' to anyone?) "You are mistaken" she/he/it says and raises Sarah's hand and releases the ribbon device onto his forehead. "Where is my queen?" Daniel fumbles for the dart pouch attached at his waist, trying to grab one of the darts. When he has one, he shifts it in his hand and moves his thumb to knock off the cap. "Tell me..." it says again. While trying to fight off the ribbon's energy, he manages to get the cap off, and with sudden force, sticks it's needle into the Goa'uld. The device stops as she is stunned and shocked. It's looks down and sees the dart's end sticking out of her. Daniel falls forward, hunched over, rocking in pain, trying to will it to subside.

Sarah/Osiris: "What is this? What have you done? *pulls out the dart and tosses it to the ground.* You will pay for this impudence." As he grapples with his pain, Osiris nears the altar and opens it up again. It aims the ribbon device at the alter and activates its energy. Energy waves move up and down the backlighted field. Up above ground, the sand begins to shake and quiver, and something is beginning to be unearthed. It turns to be a small version of the pyramid ship. The temple chamber vibrates with the movement. Sarah/Osiris moves close to the door but is not moving very quickly probably because of the sedative. The ship has freed itself from the sand and now hovers directly over the temple. It turns very slowly to face Daniel.

Sarah/Osiris: "Make no mistake. Osiris will return. And the rivers of the Earth will run red with blood!" and she moves her arms out slowly in front of her, putting her right hand on top of her ribboned hand, and then presses the ring activation crystal on top of it. The rings aboard the ship come slowly down over her.

By now Sam has regained consciousness, finds her guns, aims at Sarah/Osiris and begins firing. The bullets are just deflected by the rings as the Goa'uld Osiris is transported up to the ship. Janet has regained consciousness as Sam runs over to Daniel. She looks over her shoulder to see the altar close by itself.

Sam: "Are you alright?"

Daniel: "Oh yeah, yeah *struggling for breath* I think I'm....I'm getting used to that thing." (LOL!!)

Janet: "Where's Osiris?" *checking on Steven*

Sam: "Gone." *looking at the transport site*

Daniel: "Steven?" *he holds the palm of his hand to his forehead as Janet looks Steven over*

Janet: "If we get him out of here right now I think he'll make it."

Daniel: "In the meantime, I guess we better........make up a story to tell him" *he leans forward with his head down and folds his hands over the back of his head*

Outside, Osiris' ship rises up and a huge, pointed attachment to the ship grows downward from the ship's bottom and then the ship turns around to head off into space.

Great Moments

Teal'c: "There appears to be no fish here, O'Neill."

Jack: "Teal'c, it's not about the actual fish - themselves - fish are not important in this context. It's about fish-ing. The act of fishing."

Teal'c: "I see"
