There the stories we all know, the ones we tell to our friends to try and spook them out. The axe-wielding killer in the backseat of a woman's car but she doesn't notice till too late, a babysitter being harassed by phone calls coming from WITHIN the same house, a girl in the woods searches for both her boyfriend and the source of a strange scratching sound - which turns out to be his dead body swinging on a branch. Some of the students at New England's Pendleton College begin a study of the topic, helping them to understand an urban legend of their own - a professor at the college killed himself and six students there almost 30 years ago. Now as everyone gears up to prepare for the costume party anniversary of the incident, a series of strange deaths occur on campus. Assertive student Natalie suspects the killer is basing each murder on a different urban legend - but her loyal friend Brenda, ambitious young journalist Paul, party animal Parker, radio host Sasha and practical joker Damon insist the deaths are just coincidences. As Natalie digs further into the mystery, she comes closer to finding out how the deaths are connected - which lead her to the conclusion that she's the next target.
