The Silverlands FAQ

Q:

What AD&D books and rules do you use?

A:

I have the first edition PHB, and second edition copies of the DMG and Monstrous Manual. They're all used copies, so they didn't cost me much. (The PHB was free. The person was going to throw it out!) I use the minimum of rules possible. I only use optional rules if they are simple and add something worth while to the game. I don't use proficiencies. Instead I use stat checks. If a person wants to use a specific skill such as black smithing that a stat check doesn't cover, they can have it as part of their background (they were a black smith before they started adventuring) or they can learn it in the game. (the character pays a smith to teach him the skill)

Q:

What's this about lichs and boxes of their organs?

A:

In the Silver Lands, when a powerful spell caster becomes a lich, he removes his bodily organs and places them in a chest or container of some kind. Possessing a lichs organs gives great power over the lich, so lichs are sure to keep them well hidden and protected.

Q:

Why are there no graphics except on the main pages?

A:

To make it easy to print out the material you want to use.
