Some Inns

The inns are listed by their main clientele: poor, middle class or wealthy.

Some Inns of Ora

Some Inns of Lintoli

Poor: The Strumpets Trumpet

The sign above the door is of a bawdy blowing a trumpet. The interior is smelly, the floor is covered with sawdust in an attempt to cover the various stains. There are rooms to let, they have simple hook and eye locks and lumpy mattresses. There are pits for dog and cock fighting. The clientele is mostly labourers and hookers. On friday nights after dark there are fights held, to the death, between dagger wielding cut throats. Proprietor: Rulgot One Eye, has an eye patch, is balding, has scars. 3rd level thief. Grumpy. The food is tasteless fish and old vegetables. Specialty: Root Grout - A sour brown beer, with an unpleasant aftertaste of old leather and a very heavy kick.

Middle Class: Lornons Lute

The sign is a lute with music notes. This establishment is clean and in good repair. The food is fresh and cheap, not overly complex. Occasionally there is trouble, but Bludf the Bouncer (level 1 fighter) can take care of it. His trademark is a shiny, brass bound cudgel that he keeps scrupulously clean. The proprietor is Samshaw Harfinch, who is chubby, bald and good natured. Most nights for entertainment a bard will play the inns famous lute. The inn was founded by Lornon, a traveler from another plane. He had a single daughter who married Ligolt Harfinch, the grand father of Samshaw. The lute was originally Lornons, and it improves the players skill with music. It is kept on display when not is use in a glass case. Specialty: Silver Chime - Looks like liquid silver, tastes like a symphony. Has a mild kick, sneaks up on you.

Wealthy: The Mermaids Music

This inn has a fish theme. The sign is of a beautiful mermaid blowing a conch shell. Giant fish tanks make up the walls, filled with beautiful, bizarre and rare fishes. Each table also has a bowl with several fish. The highlight is the large tank where lives Myrmynella, a red haired mermaid. She sings with a beautiful voice or plays her platinum flute. Her tank also connects to a large submerged cavern where she lives. The proprietor is Wilmin Lorshan, a female elf. She has long blonde hair, is quite friendly and has a good head for business. The bouncers are good looking women in flowing robes who wield scimitars and are level 3 fighters. The mermaids music specialty is "Liquid Prism", an alcoholic drink that is a swirl of colours. A faint vapor rises from it, recalling pleasant memories. Has a medium kick, but never any hangover.

Some Inns of Ora

Poor: The Bloody Fist

Run down, dirty, built mostly underground. Empty windowpanes near the ceiling let in a dim illumination. There is no sign outside. The serving women can be bought and taken into a back room with a lumpy, smelly bed. People gamble at dice, but fights are rare because of Oras harsh treatment of trouble makers, especially poor ones. The proprietor is Harfilm No Ears (had his ears removed after accidentally over hearing a conversation between two soldiers discussing unimportant campaign details). He is taciturn and grumpy. The places specialty is Dry Tears, a cloudy gray drink made from a rare type of desert clay. It has no flavour, leaves the throat dry and scratchy but gets you fairly drunk - but not too drunk because public drunks are treated harshly in Ora. For entertainment Harfilm has slaves battle each other with small clubs (d3 dmg). The loser rarely dies, which is good because Harfilm can barely afford slaves. For 1gp, patrons can get a cudgel and fight a slave. If he wins he gets 5gp.

Middle Class: The Sandy Spice Oasis

This establishment is respectable and clean. Popular with spice dealers. The sign shows a palm tree with small spice plants growing about it. Many different types of drinks are sold here, mostly mildly to extremely spiced. The favorite is a combination of Yendrok and Mordnine. It tastes like an electrifying liquid mixed with old memories, called "Desert Scales". The owner is Ginfinch the Dwarf, an ex-member of Irresistible Force. (level 2 fighter) He knows the spice trade from an outsiders viewpoint and caters to what his clientele wants. The drinks here all have limited alcohol content. None of the Sandy Spices patrons would want to be charged with public drunkenness.

Wealthy: The Dragons Den

This is a prosperous inn with blue walls , tablecloths and drapes. The sign shows a mighty blue dragon in flight. The servers are good looking male and female slaves clothed in wispy blue clothing. The proprietor is Samnor Logald, a highly placed cleric with the Cult of Oratillor. (He's a level 6 cleric) He is also friendly in a false way and he overcharges for everything. Uses his position in the cult to get discounts on all his supplies. The inns specialty is "Dragons Blood", a thin red liquid with a few cheap spices. It tastes bland but is very alcoholic. This causes no problem because only the wealthy and influential come here, and they have no need to fear public drunkenness charges. Because Samnor outrageously overcharges, people only come here because of his position in the cult. They come to look devout or perhaps to beg a favour.
