How do I get two china glasses apart that are stuck together?
And YOU Responded:
-
Two china glasses can be unstuck by pouring cold water in the inner glass
and putting the outer glass in hot water for a few minutes.
-
Saw this tip on TV just the other day. Put both of the glasses in a pan
of warm water. Pour some cool water into the the top glass. They should
easily separate. Tammy G.

To get two glasses unstuck...pour cold water in the top glass and then
set the two glasses in warm water which only covers the bottom glass.
The cold will cause the glass to contract and the warm will cause the other
to expand. Sue in Alberta
-
Try putting ice cubes in the inner glass and running hot water over the
outer glass and gently pulling them apart.
-
Simply immerse them in warm water, & then gently pull apart-alekscat
-
Fill the glass that is stuck within the other one with cool tap water.
Slowly submerge the outside glass into water that is a warmer (NOT HOT!).
The outside glass will expand in response to the heat, while the inside
glass will remain it's current size and the two should slide easily apart.

Fill the top glass gently with ice. Fill your sink with enough warm water
-NOT HOT - water to set the bottom glass in. Place the bottom glass - over
the rim - in the warm water. The top glass should contract while the bottom
glass expands enabling you to gently pull apart. Good luck!

Use differential in temperatures. Heat makes things expand, cold slows
molecules and thinks "shrink" First try one or the other; put Ice in the
top glass. It should cool faster than the outer (bottom) glass. Or, stand
the stuck glassware pair in Hot water. The outer glass should expand faster
than the inner glass. If one or the other is not sufficient to release
the glasses from their Stuck state, try combining the techniques. Stand
the stuck glasses in hot water, and put a few ice cubes in the inner glass.
Use rubber gloves so your hands can grip the wet glass easily and you can
use really HOT water. Be very gentle and firm as you handle the glassware,
because there is a danger of getting cut.
Before you start, ask yourself, "What'll it cost me to replace these?
Is it worth the effort?" I like rising to the challenges life presents
like stuck glassware but in truth, I'd be better off, both time and money
just to toss those and get something new. If they were really valuable,
why would I have Stacked them in the first place? Martha Harveymailto:sunnyhaven@cybertrails.com
