Our Philosophy of Ministry
1. Our focus is to become servants:
"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness." Philippines 2:5-7
2. Our emphasis is on Christ and the finished work of Christ:
"For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." I Corinthians 2.2
3. Maturity of the Believer is more important than quantity of believers:
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19,20
4. Lifestyle Evangelism is our method but we also believe that at some point in the relationship we must give our personal testimony of Christ.
5. We desire to equip new believers and others to share the "Good News" of Jesus.
6. We believe it is more important to establish a first century church in Pine Ridge. Meaning we seek to draw believers together in a grassroots, foundational, and radical approach to the believers, which is based on relationships.
7. Our intent is not to build another American Church but to build a church that will work for the Lakota people. With a strong Biblical approach to contexualize the Gospel for the Lakota people.
8. We desire to see ourselves love like Jesus loved. He died for us and we ought to die for our brothers.
"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers." I John 3:16
In Closing we would like you to know that we believe the first
missionaries came with a superiority mentality and did not perceive themselves
to be servants of the people. This method has proved to be disastrous and has
had an adverse affect on our people. We do not wish to make the same mistakes,
but we also believe we must have local Lakota leadership in order to help
create a relationship-based church We have a unique ministry as we are also
Lakota and yet we are aware of the responsibility of the believer to become
like Christ.
