How do we know God
loves us? Because the Bible tells
us so
"I love them that
love me..." Proverbs 8:17
"...but love covereth all sins." Proverbs 10:12
"The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying,
Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love:
therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn
thee." Jeremiah 31:3
"I will heal their backsliding, I will love them
freely..." Hosea 14:4
"This is my
commandment, That ye love one another, as I have
loved you... Greater love hath no man than
this..." John 15:12,13
"Who shall separate us from the love of
Christ?..." Romans 8:35
"For the love of Christ constraineth
us..." 2 Corinthians 5:14
"And to know the love of Christ, which passeth
knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the
fulness of God." Ephesians 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; be zealous therefore, and repent." Revelation 3:19
John 3:16, perhaps
the most well-known verse in the Bible, also refers
to His wonderful love.
"For God so loved
the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but
have everlasting
life."
He DOES love us, and
He wants to abide with us -- always. But we can't
walk closely with Him, unless we turn away from our
sin, and let Him be Lord of our lives.
"No man can serve
two masters: for either he will hate the one, and
love the other; or else he will hold to the one,
and despise the other.
Ye cannot serve God and mammon." Matthew
6:24
Although God's love
for us is clearly stated in His Word, it is up
to us, individually, as to whether or not we
want (and are willing) to accept that love.
We can accept it by accepting Him
One day a sinner
asked of Jesus, "How much do you love me?"
Jesus answered him saying,
"This much my child." Then He stretched out His
arms and died. (author unknown)
