Here are some mini-bios about each of the "Friends" characters!
The T.V. show “Friends” first aired in 1994. Since then it has become very popular, and it is in its sixth season. This comedy has received twenty Emmy nominations. The show is about six friends played by Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer. They hang out together at each other’s apartments and at Central Perk, a coffee house. Whenever they are together something interesting is sure to happen and anyone watching the show is sure to have some laughs.
Jennifer Aniston was born on February 11, 1969 in California. Her family moved to New York when she was a child, and she became interested in acting when she was eleven years old. She began professional training at New York’s High School for Performing Arts. She had some roles in off-broadway shows like For Dear Life and Dancing on Checker’s Grave. Jennifer Aniston received her first part in a T.V. show in 1989, and she has appeared in some movies. She currently plays Rachel Greene on “Friends”. Rachel moved to New York City and went to live best friend from high school, Monica. She had been living off her father’s money so she found a job working at Central Perk, a Coffee House, as a waitress until she became a clothes salesperson.
Courtney Cox was born on June 15, 1964 in Alabama. She wanted to be a model and maybe an actress after high school. She didn’t become famous until appearing in Bruce Springsteen’s video, “Dancing in the Dark”. In 1984, Courtney Cox landed a role in a T.V. show that didn’t last very long. She was in a few movies, but it was her part in “Ace Ventura Pet Detective” that made her well-known. It was after this movie that she got the part of Monica Geller on “Friends.” Much of the show takes place at Monica’s apartment. Monica is a chef in a restaurant. Her brother Ross and her friend from high school, Rachel are both part of Monica’s group of friends on the show.
Lisa Kudrow was born on July 30, 1963 in California. She graduated from college with a degree in biology. She worked in Las Angeles with her father until one of her brother’s friends told her she should perform. She studied acting and improvisation and managed to get a role as a ditzy waitress on the show “Mad About You.” This led to her role on “Friends.” Lisa Kudrow has been in several movies. She has been nominated for many awards and won an Emmy Award in 1998. Her character, Phoebe Buffay, is a ditzy person who lived with Monica for a while. She sings at Central Perk, and you can always count on Phoebe to make you laugh.
Matt LeBlanc was born on July 25, 1967 in Massachusetts. He moved to New York City after graduating from high school. He acted in various commercials. Matt LeBlanc began training to be an actor in 1988, and he landed roles in movies and on television. He plays Joey Tribbiani who is an actor who can’t succeed in getting good roles. Joey lives with Chandler in the apartment across from Monica and Rachel.
Mathew Perry was born on August 19, 1969 in Massachusetts. He was interested in acting ever since he was a child. When he moved to Las Angeles he became even more interested in acting and was offered a main role in a Television show before going to college. He appeared on many different shows and movies. Mathew Perry plays Chandler Bing who knew Ross because they went to college together. He is a data processor.
David Schwimmer was born on November 19, 1966 in New York. He was raised in Las Angeles and became interested in acting in high school. After high school he graduated from Northwestern University and received a degree in theater and speech. David Schwimmer appeared in various movies and T.V. shows. He plays Ross Gellar who is Monica’s brother. Ross is a paleontologist and works in a museum. He has liked Rachel since high school.
