I hope your visit to our site is a pleasant one. I would like to encourage you to visit our church if you are in the area, or contact us if we can be of any assistance. The mission statement of Aberdeen Wesleyan Church is this:
Our purpose is
to bring unchurched people into God’s family, and to offer worship that
lifts up God, ministry that heals hurts, a home for fellowship,
and instruction in Christian living.
Our
desire is to present the Word of God (The Bible) as being relevant and applicable
for life, especially as we enter the new millenium. I would invite you to check out what the Bible says about every
area of life.
I
would like to make a special invitation to any of you who do not know for sure
you are going to heaven when you leave this earth. The Bible says that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory
of God.” (Romans 3:23) This means you
and me, Billy Graham, and Mother Teresa.
No one is exempt. Because of our
sinfulness, we are in for a rather harsh ending – “The wages of sin is death
(hell), but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans
6:23).
The
good news is that God has provided a way out!
Jesus Christ, the only sinless one, came down from heaven to die for our
sins on the cross. “For Christ died for
sins once for all the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” (1
Peter 3:18) He rose three days later,
defeating death and the grave (1 Corinthians 15:3-8).
By
calling on Jesus, we become children of God, and inherit eternal life in heaven
(John 1:12). The Bible says that “If
you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God
raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is
with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10) The Bible also says, “Everyone who calls on
the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13).
Isn’t that great news? You and I can have eternal life in heaven! But be careful – you cannot earn this salvation. You can never do enough “good deeds,” go to church enough, or pray enough. It is a gift from God. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
If
you want the assurance of heaven, then pray a simple prayer like this:
Dear Jesus, I am a sinner and I know it. Please forgive me and help me turn from my sins. I believe you died for my sins and rose from
the grave. So now, confessing you as
Lord, I ask you to save me and give me eternal life in heaven. Thank you for saving me. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit so I can live
for You. Amen
If you prayed that prayer from
your heart, God promises you have eternal life. “This is the testimony: God has given us eternal life and this
life is in His Son. He who has the Son
has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in
the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you eternal life.” (1 John
5:11-13).
Would you do me a favor? I would appreciate it if you would contact
me if you prayed that prayer. You can
email me using the link on the home page, or write or call using the
information on the same page. I will
rejoice with you in your newfound faith in Christ!
