OIL IS TO BE MADE AND HE'S VERY PARTICULAR ABOUT HOW
THE OIL IS TO BE USED. NOW WHAT DOES THE TERM ANOINT-
ING MEAN? THERE ARE TWO WORDS FOR IT. ONE IN THE HEB.
MASHACH, WHICH MEANS TO RUB OR SMEAR WITH OIL, TO
PAINT, TO COVER OVER, TO CONSECRATE. THE GREEK WORD
FOR ANOINTING IS CHRIO. IT MEANS TO ANOINT, TO COVER
OVER, TO RUB WITH OIL. IT IS ALWAYS USED OF RUBBING OR
SPRINKLING WITH OIL IN A SACRED OR RELIGIOUS SENSE. SO
THE ANOINTING MEANS TO BE RUBBED OR PAINTED OR SMEARED
WITH OIL. NOW THERE ARE TWO WORDS THAT WE USE TODAY THAT
COME OUT OF THE O.T. WD. MASHACH AND THE N.T. WD.
CHRIO. THE FIRST IS MESSIAH, WHO IS MESSIAH? ITS
JESUS. MESSIAH MEANS ANOINTED ONE, ONE WHO IS RUBBED
IN OIL. SECONDLY THE WORD CHRIST OR CHRISTOS AS IT
APPEARS IN THE GREEK AND ITS INTERPRETED AS ONE WHO IS
RUBBED WITH HOLY ANOINTING OIL. THEN THERE IS A DER-
IVATIVE OF CHRISTOS, ITS CHRISTIAN. WE ARE CHRISTIANS
BY FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST.

IS FOR MEN TO SAY, "WELL I'M A CHRISTIAN BUT I DON'T
BELIEVE IN THIS ANOINTING STUFF." NOW LISTEN TO THE
WORD MEANING, THEY'RE SAYING I AM A CHRISTIAN A LITTLE
ANOINTED ONE BUT I DON'T BELIEVE IN THE ANOINTING. HOW
MANY OF YOU KNOW THAT'S STUPID. YOU SEE IF YOU ARE IN

WHOLE NATION OF ISRAEL. GOD CALLS THE WHOLE NATION MY

NOT THE ANOINTING THEN WHAT IS. THE ANOINTING IS A
SPECIAL TOUCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT UPON YOUR LIFE FOR A
SPECIFIC FUNCTION OR PURPOSE. THERE IS A SPECIFIC

FALSELY CONCLUDE THAT THERE IS ONE ANOINTING OR ONE
TOUCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT TO PROPHECY, TO DO MIRACLES OR
TO INTERPRET TONGUES. BUT WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING
HERE IS THAT THERE IS ONE HOLY SPIRIT WHO HAS A DIVER-
SITY OF ANOINTINGS. THE ANOINTING TO PROPHECY IS DIFF-
ERENT FROM THE ANOINTING TO RAISE HE DEAD. THE
ANOINTING TO PRAY FOR THE SICK IS DIFFERENT FROM THE
ANOINTING TO SING OR WORSHIP. THERE ARE ALOT OF DIF-
FERENT KINDS OF ANOINTING BASED ON WHAT GOD WANTS YOU
TO DO. THE INTERESTING THING TO IS THAT THE ANOINTING
GOES BEYOND THE NINE VOCAL GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
YOU SEE WE HAVE A TENDENCY TO LIMIT THE ANOINTING TO
CHURCH RELATED THINGS INSTEAD OF THE EVERY DAY LIVING
THINGS WE ENCOUNTER AS WE WALK THROUGH LIFE AND FUL-
FILL DIVINE DESTINY AND ETERNAL PURPOSE. REMEMBER THE
ANOINTING IS A SPECIAL TOUCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT UPON
YOUR LIFE FOR A SPECIFIC FUNCTION AND PURPOSE. THE
ANOINTING IS THE MANIFESTED PRESENCE OF GOD, HIS TOUCH

TYPE AND MANAGE A QUIET AND PECEFUL OFFICE. IF GOD HAS
CALLED YOU TO BE A SURGEON THERE IS AN ANOINTING TO
HELP YOU AND DIRECT YOU WHEN YOU CUT SOMEONE OPEN. IF
YOU ARE CALLED TO BE A SHERRIFF THERE IS AN ANOITNING
TO KEEP PEACE. IF YOU ARE CALLED BY GOD TO BE A SANI-
TATION WORKER THERE IS A SPECIFIC ANOINTING TO KEEP
THINGS CLEAN. I BELIEVE THERE IS A SPECIFIC AND
DIVERSE ANOINTING FOR YOU TO GO THRU ANYTHING AND DO
ANY AND EVERYTHING IN THE FULFILLING OF HIS PURPOSE.
THERE'S AN ANOINTING OF JUST WAITING ON THE LORD THAT
CAN SUSTAIN US WHILE GOD IS PREPARING US FOR ONE

1. THE FIRST INGREDIENT IS PURE MYRRH. MYRR WAS A NAR-
COTIC USED AS A PAIN KILLER. IT WAS USED TO DEADEN
PAIN. AT JESUS'S BIRTH WISEMEN PRESENTED HIM WITH
GOLD, FRANKINCENSE AND MYRRH. MYRRH SPOKE TO THE FACT
THAT JESUS CAME TO BEAR OUR PAIN AND TO CARRY OUR
SORROW AND TO REMOVE OUR HURT.
Mark 15:18 And began to salute him, Hail, King of the

ERS WOULD BE OFFERED A MIXTURE OF WINE AND MYRRH TO
DEADEN THE PAIN OF CRUCIFIXION. BUT HERE IN MARK WE
SEE THAT JESUS REFUSED THE MYRRH SO THAT HE COULD
VICARIOUSLY TAKE OUR PAIN AND SUFFERING SO THAT WE
DON'T HAVE TO. JESUS DID NOT DEADEN THE PAIN OF THE
CRUCIFIXION BECAUSE HE WANTED TO CARRY YOUR PAIN. AND
HE WANTED TO CARRY YOUR SIN AND HE WANTED TO CARRY YOU
SICKNESS AS OUR SUBSTITUTE SO THAT HE COULD MAKE
SUPERNATURAL PROVISION FOR THOSE THINGS IN OUR LIVES.
SO MYRRH IS THE FIRST PRINCIPAL INGREDIENT IN THE
ANOINTING OIL. ISN'T IT INTERESTING THAT WHEN THE
ANOINTING COMES UPON YOUR LIFE THAT PAIN AND SICKNESS
SEEMS TO LIFT. I CAN COME TO CHURCH WITH A SORE THROAT
AND BARELY BE ABLE TO SPEAK MUCH LESS LEAD IN WORSHIP.
I BEGIN IN FAITH AND BEFORE YOU KNOW IT I CAN SING AND
PREACH THE WORD OF GOD. WHY? BECAUSE THERE IS AN
ANOITNING TO HELP ME. PAIN LEAVES, HEADACHES LEAVE,
NATUIA LEAVES WHEN THE ANOINTING COMES. THE ONLY
PROBLEM IS THAT WE CAN'T LIVE IN THE ANOINTING 100% OF
THE TIME. WHEN HE COMES PAIN GOES, WHEN HE LIFTS HIS
ANIONTING THE PAIN OFTEN RETURNS. SO THE FIRST
INGREDIENT IN THE ANOINTING OIL IS MYRRH--IT'S A PAIN
KILLER.
THIS IS THE OIL FROM CINNAMON FRUIT NOT CINAMON POWDER
BUT CINAMON OIL. NOW CINNAMON OIL WAS FLAMABLE, IT
WOULD BURN. YOU COULD USE IT TO IGNITE FIRES. IT
SPEAKS OF THE SPIRIT FIRE THAT COME IN THE ANOINTING.
Matt 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto
repentance: but he that cometh after me is
mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy
to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy

SPIRIT THAT COMES IN THE ANOINTING. THE FIRE OF GOD IS
IN THAT ANOINTING. THE ANOINTING IS NOT JUST TO REMOVE
PAIN BUT GIVEN TO MAKE US ZEALOUS FOR GOD. THE FIRE OF
GOD IS THE ENERGY THAT MOBOLIZES US TO SERVE GOD
CONSISTENTLY AND PASSIONATELY. I'M SURE YOU'VE HEARD
THE EXPRESSION, "SOMEBODY LIGHT A FIRE UNDER HIM."
WHAT TURNED A BUNCH OF COWARDLY DISCIPLES WHO WERE
FEARING FOR THEIR LIVES IN AN UPPER ROOM, INADEQUATE,
UNEDUCATED AND WITHOUT PROPER HUMAN SKILLS INTO ROARING
LIONS THAT POURED OUT OF A RROM INTO THE MARKET PLACE
WITNESSING BOLDLY OF CHRIST EVERY WHERE. WHAT MADE
THAT CHANGE. NO TAPE OF THE MONTH AND NO SEMINAR DID
THAT IT WAS THE HOLY GHOST THAT FELL ON THEM WITH
TONGUES OF FIRE.
Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come,
they were all with one accord in one place.
Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as
of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all

AND THE FIRE OF GOD CAME IN THOSE CLOVEN TONGUES THAT
RESTED ON THE DISCIPLES. FROM THAT DAY ON THE FIRE OF
GOD'S ANOINTING LIFTED THOSE DISCIPLES OUT OF THEIR
NATURAL ABILITY AND GAVE THEM SUPERNATURAL ABILITY AND
BOLDNESS TO WITNESS, HEAL THE SICK AND RAISE THE DEAD
AND TURN THEIR WORLD UPSIDE DOWN FOR THE KINGDOM OF
GOD. WHAT DO WE NEED TODAY IN THE CHURCH? WE NEED THE
FIRE OF GOD TO ENERGIZE US, AND IMPASSION US IN SERVICE
TO THE LORD. THE FIRE OF GOD'S ANOINTING IS SUPPOSE TO
PUT ZEAL IN YOU AND A DRIVE IN YOU TO DO SOMETHING.
WHEN HE COMES ON YOU HE QUICKENS YOU AND MAKES YOU
ALIVE.
Luke 24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with

UNDER THE ANOINTING AND INSPIRATION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
AND LIT A FIRE IN THOSE DISCIPLE'S HEARTS. SO HERE WE
CAN SEE THAT GOD WANTS TO MAKE US FERVENT AND SET US ON
FIRE FOR THE THINGS OF GOD. AND SOME OF YOU NEED IT
THIS MORNING. A ZEAL TO WORSHIP, A ZEAL TO PRAY OR A
ZEAL TO WITNESS. LET GOD LIGHT A FIRE IN YOU THIS
MORNING.
IS CALAMUS. THIS WAS USUALLY A SCENTED CANE. IT WAS
FOUND AMONGST THE LILIES THAT GREW ALONG THE WATER
WAYS IN PALASTINE AND WHEN IT BLOSSOMED THEY WOULD PICK
ALL THE FLOWERY PETALS OFF AND CRUSH THEM OR BRUISE
THEM. SO WHEN THE PETALS WERE BRUISED THE FRAGRANCE
WAS EXTRACTED. IT WAS THE FRAGRANCE THAT CAME OUT OF
THE BRUISING THAT WAS USED IN THE HOLY ANOINTING OIL.
SO ONE OF THE REQUIREMENT FOR THE ANOINTING IS THAT WE
MUST BE FRAGRANT WHEN WE ARE BRUISED. NOT UGLY, NOT
MEAN OR REVENGEFUL BUT SWEET. LOOK WHAT JESUS DID WHEN
HE WAS CRUCIFIED AND BRUISED:

AGONY COULD SAY THAT TO THE VERY PEOPLE THAT CRUCIFIED
HIM. YOU SEE IT WAS THE ANOINTING THAT HELPED HIM
RELEASE A SWEET FRAGRANCE OF FORGIVENESS. THE SAME
THING HAPPENED WHEN THEY TOOK STEPHEN OUTSIDE OF THE
CITY TO STONE HIM TO DEATH. IN THE MIDST OF IT HE SAID
"FATHER FORGIVE THEM FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY ARE
DOING." THAT'S NOT JUST A FORMUAL FOR MARTERDOM OR
SOMEHTING WERE SUPPOSE TO SAY ITS AN ANOINTING THAT
SENDS FORTH A SWEET FRAGRANCE WHEN IT IS BRUISED.
JOHN WESLEY DESCRIBES FORGIVENESS THIS WAY: FORGIVENESS
IS THE FRAGRANCE OF THE ROSE ON THE HEAL OF THE ONE WHO
CRUSHED IT. SO WHEN THE ANOINTING IS ON YOU DURING
YOUR TRIALS, YOUR HARDSHIPS IN RELATIONSHIPS YOU WILL
BE GIVEN THE SUPERNATUAL ABILTY TO ENDURE IT JOYFULLY
AND PEACEFULLY. AND IN SO DOING THERE WILL BE A SWEET
FRAGRANCE OF GOD'S PATIENCE, LOVE, JOY, GENTLENESS,
MEEKNESS AND SELF-CONTROL THE PERMEATES THE ATMOSPHERE
AROUND YOU WITH THE SWEETNESS OF HIS PRESENCE. BUT
WATCH NOW, SOME OF YOU BET BUMPED OR BRUISED AND YOU
GET UGLY AND STINK! BUT THE ANOINTING WILL MAKE YOU
SWEET.
AFTER THE ANOITING OILS IS MADE MOSES IS INSTRUCTED TO
PUT FOUR INGREDIENTS TOGETHER TO MAKE SWEET INCENSE.
INCENS IS A TYPE OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP. HAVE YOU EVER

CAN HAVE THE SWEETNESS OF THE ANOINTING WHEN WE ARE
BRUISED IF WE ARE IN AN ATTITUDE AND MENTAL POSTURE OF
PRAISE AND WORSHIP. IF YOUR EYE AND MIND IS ON THE
INJUSTICE INSTEAD OF THE LORD YOU WILL BE UGLY. WE CAN
SEE THIS IN THE LIFE OF STEPHEN. WHILE THEY WERE
STONING HIM HIS EYE WAS UPON THE LORD:

IS IN YOUR FACE AGREVATING YOU OR HURTING YOU IN SOME
WAY. THE ANOINTING OF THE CALAMUS PLANT WILL ENABLE
YOU TO BE SWEET AND FORGIVING. HOW MANY OF YOU WOULD
SAY THAT WE NEED SOME MORE CALAMUS OIL IN THE CHURCH
TODAY!
2 Cor 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth
us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest
the savour of his knowledge by us in every

THERE IS A PRICE THAT WE MUST PAY IF WE ARE GOING TO
HAVE THE SWEET ANOINTING FRAGRANCE WHEN WE ARE BRUISED.
HOW MANY OF YOU KNOW THAT TO BE FRAGRANT WHEN YOU ARE
BRUISED IS A GREAT PRICE. YOU SEE, WHEN YOU GET ME I
WANT TO GET BACK AT YOU. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THAT IS
IF YOU YIELD TO THAT IT WILL COST YOU THE ANOINTING.
LISTEN, HAS YOUR CHRISTIAN LIFE GONE THEY WAY YOU
THOUGHT IT WOULD? HAVE YOU HAD TO FORGIVE A WHOLE LOT
MORE PEOPLE THAN YOU THOUGHT YOU WOULD HAVE HAD TO.
THE ANSWER FOR ALL OF US IS YES! AS LONG AS WE ABIDE
IN CHRIST THERE WILL BE A SWEET FRAGRANCE OF THE
ANOINTING THAT WILL EMENATE FROM OUR LIVES. IN 2.COR.
2:16 PAUL IS TELLING US THAT BOTH THE LOST AND THE
SAVED CAN SMELL OR SENSE OUR SPIRITUAL CONDITION.
THERE'S SOMETHING DIFFERENT ABOUT YOU. YOU MUST BE A
CHRISTIAN OTHERWISE YOU WOULD HAVE REALLY GOTTEN ANGRY.
4. THE FOURTH PRUINCIPAL SPICE USED IN THE ANOINTING
OIL IS CASSIA. CASSIA WAS THE BARK FROM THE CASSIA
TREE. CASSIA MEANS TO SPLIT, TO SCRAPE OFF, TO PURGE.
CASSIA BARK WAS USED AS A LAXATIVE. IT WOULD CLEAN YOU
OUT. THE CASSIA SYMBOLIZES THE PURIFYING EFFECT OF THE
ANOINTING OF GOD UPON YOUR LIFE.
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is
expedient for you that I go away: for if I go
not away, the Comforter will not come unto
you; but if I depart, I will send him unto

IN OUR LIVES THAT ARE NOT PLEASING TO GOD. THAT'S THE
LAXATIVE TO PURGE OUT OF ME WHAT HE DOESN'T LIKE IN MY
ATTITUDES, DISPOSITION AND CONDUCT. NOW IF WE RESPOND
OBEDIENTLY TO THE REPROOF AND CONVICTION OF THE HOLY
SPIRIT HIS ANOINTING WILL INCREASE IN OUR LIVES. BUT
IF WE REBEL AND KICK AND RESIST THE HOLY SPIRIT WHEN HE
IS CONVINCING US OF A BAD ATTITUDE OR A SIN WE WILL
RESTRICT THE FLOW OF ANOITING FOR OTHER AREAS OF
MINISTRY AND SERVICE.
