OLD TESTAMENT TYPOLOGY OF EASTER:
April 11, 1993
Luke 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they
came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared,
and certain others with them. (KJV)
Luke 24:2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. (KJV)
Luke 24:3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. (KJV)
Luke 24:4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold,
two men stood by them in shining garments: (KJV)
Luke 24:5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they
said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? (KJV)
Luke 24:7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men,
and be crucified, and the third day rise again. (KJV)
Luke 24:8 And they remembered his words, (KJV)
Luke 24:9 And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the
eleven, and to all the rest. (KJV)
Luke 24:10 It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and
other women that were with them, which told these things unto the
apostles. (KJV)
Luke 24:11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them
not. (KJV)
Luke 24:12 Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he
beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering
in himself at that which was come to pass. (KJV)
Luke 24:13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called
Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. (KJV)
Luke 24:14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
Luke 24:15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned,
Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. (KJV)
Luke 24:16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. (KJV)
Luke 24:17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that
ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? (KJV)
Luke 24:18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him,
Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things
which are come to pass there in these days? (KJV)
Luke 24:19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him,
Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and
word before God and all the people: (KJV)
Luke 24:20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be
condemned to death, and have crucified him. (KJV)
Luke 24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel:
and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were
done. (KJV)
Luke 24:22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which
were early at the sepulchre; (KJV)
Luke 24:23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had
also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. (KJV)
Luke 24:24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and
found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. (KJV)
Luke 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all
that the prophets have spoken: (KJV)
Luke 24:26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his
glory? (KJV)
Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them
in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. (KJV)
Luke 24:28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made
as though he would have gone further. (KJV)
Luke 24:29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward
evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
Luke 24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and
blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. (KJV)
Luke 24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of
their sight. (KJV)
Luke 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while
he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the
scriptures? (KJV)
Luke 24:33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found
the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, (KJV)
Luke 24:34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. (KJV)
Luke 24:35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known
of them in breaking of bread. (KJV)
OF ALL THE HOLIDAYS THAT WE CELEBRATE IN THE COURSE OF A YEAR, THIS HOLI-
DAY, WE CALL EASTER, IS THE GREATEST OF THEM ALL. EASTER IS NOT ABOUT A RABBIT
AND THE CELBRATION OF THE FERTILITY OF LIFE. ITS ABOUT JESUS AND HIS RESURRECT-
ION FROM THE DEAD. CHRISTIANITY IS THE ONLY "RELIGION" THAT HAS IT'S FOUNDATION
ON THE RESURRECTION OF ITS LEADER AND FOUNDER. ALL OTHER RELIGIONS ARE BASED ON
THE TEACHING, PHILOSOPHY, DOGMA, OR CHARISMA OF WELL MEANING MEN WHO ARE SINCER-
ELY TRYING TO REACH AND KNOW GOD IN A REAL AND INTIMATE WAY. RELIGION WAS ONCE
DEFINED TO ME AS MAN'S ATTEMPT TO REACH GOD THROUGH CEREMONY, RITUAL, TRADITION
AND GOOD WORKS. CHRISTIANITY IS NOT BASED ON MAN'S ATTEMPT TO REACH GOD--BUT
RATHER GOD'S PLAN AND EFFORT TO SAVE SINFUL HUMANITY. CHRISTIANITY IS GOD
REACHING OUT TO SINFUL HUMANITY IN THE PERSON OF HIS SON JESUS CHRIST. FOR GOD
SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVES ON
HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. JESUS WAS SENT BY GOD TO BEAR
THE SINS OF THE WORLD IN HIS ONW BODY ON THE TREE THAT WE MIGHT BE FREE FROM THE
CURSE OF THE LAW FOR IT IS WRITTEN, CURSED IS EVERYONE THAT HANGS UPON A TREE.
IT WAS THE PREDETERMINED PLAN OF GOD THAT JESUS CHRIST SHOULD BECOME OUR SIN
BEARER AS THE LAMB OF GOD THAT TAKES AWAY THE SINS OF THE WORLD.
John 11:49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same
year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, (KJV)
John 11:50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for
the people, and that the whole nation perish not. (KJV)
John 11:51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he
prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; (KJV)
John 11:52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together
in one the children of God that were scattered abroad. (KJV)
John 11:53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to
death. (KJV)
Acts 2:22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved
of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by
him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: (KJV)
Acts 2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of
God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
Acts 2:24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it
was not possible that he should be holden of it. (KJV)
ON THAT FIRST RESURRECTION MORNING JESUS JOINED HIMSELF TO TWO DISCIPLES AS
THEY WERE WALKING ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS. AT THAT TIME THEY DID NOT KNOW THAT IT
WAS JESUS BECAUSE AS FAR AS THEY WERE CONCERNED HE WAS DEAD AND THEIR HOPE OF
HIS BEING THEIR MESSIAH HAD ENDED. WE READ IN VERSE 20-21
Luke 24:20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be
condemned to death, and have crucified him. (KJV)
Luke 24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel:
and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were
done. *TRUSTED = HOPED IN GK.*
JESUS TRIED TO PREPARE HIS DISCIPLES FOR HIS DEPARTURE BUT THEY SIMPLY
COULD NOT COMPREHEND THE RESURRECTION. THE LAST SIGN THAT JESUS GAVE TO HIS
DISCIPLES WAS THE RAISING OF LAZARUS FROM THE DEAD. EVEN THEN THEY COULD NOT
COMPREHEND WHAT JESUS WAS ABOUT TO DO FOR LAZARUS:
John 11:21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my
brother had not died. (KJV)
John 11:22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will
give it thee. (KJV)
John 11:23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. (KJV)
John 11:24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the
resurrection at the last day. (KJV)
John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that
believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (KJV)
John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest
thou this? (KJV)
John 11:27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ,
the Son of God, which should come into the world. (KJV)
AS JESUS WALKED WITH THESE TWO DISCIPLES ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS HE BEGAN TO
TEACH THEM CONCERNING THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF THE COMING MESSIAH BEGIN-
NING AT MOSES AND ALL THE PROPHETS HE BEGAN TO EXPOUND THE SCRIPTURES TO THEM
CONCERNING HIMSELF. THEY ONLY WAY THAT JESUS COULD HAVE IDENTIFIED THE CALL OF
GOD UPON HIS LIFE WAS THROUGH THE O.T. SCRITPURES.
THE OLD TESTAMENT IS THE NEW TESTAMENT CONTAINED. THE NEW TESTAMENT IS THE
OLD TESTAMENT EXPLAINED. THE O.T. IS THE N.T. CONCEALED. THE N.T. IS THE O.T.
REVEALED. JESUS BEGINS THE PROCESS OF UNRAVALLING THOSE O.T. TYPES AND SHADOWS
CONCERNING HIMSELF.
1. IN GENESIS WE SEE HIM AS THE SEED OF THE WOMAN THAT CRUSHED THE HEAD
OF THE SERPENT.
2. IN EXODUS WE SEE HIM AS THE PASSOVER LAMB.
3. IN LEVETICUS WE SEE HIM AS OUR SIN OFFERING AND SCAPEGOAT.
4. IN NUMBERS WE SEE HIM AS THE BRAZEN SERPENT WHO WAS HIGH AND LIFTED
UP AND PROVIDED HEALING FOR THE PEOPLE.
5. IN DEUTERONOMY HE IS REVEALED AS THAT GREAT PROPHET THAT SHOULD COME.
6. IN ISAIAH HE IS IMMANUEL, GOD WITH US AND HE WHO BORE OUR GRIEFS AND
SINS.
7. IN EZEKIEL HE IS SEEN AS THE GOOD SHEPHERD
8. IN JEREMIAH HE IS REVEALED AS THE BRANCH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
9. IN MICAH HE IS THE HEIR OF DAVID AND THE RULER OF BETHLEHEM
10. IN ZECHARIAH HE IS REVELAED AS THE LOWLY KING WHO IS REJECTED, THE
REJECTED KING WHO IS ENTHRONED, THE PEIRCED VICTIM AND THE SMITTEN
SHEPHERD.
11. IN MALACHI HE IS THE MESSENGER OF THE COVENANT AND THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUS-
NESS.
THE ENTIRE O.T. DECLARES THE PURPOSES AND PLANS OF GOD REGARDING THE DEATH,
RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION OF JESUS CHRIST. THIS MORNING I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE
WITH YOU SOME OF THE O.T. TYPES OF THE RESURRECTION THAT POINTED TO THIS GREAT
DAY WE CELEBRATE AS EASTER.
1. THE FIRST O.T. TYPE OF THE RESURRECTION CAN BE SEEN IN THE RESTING OF NOAH'S
ARK ON THE MOUNTIANS OF ARRAT. DEEP WATERS OR FLOOD WATERS IN SCRIPTURE ARE
ALWAYS A SYMBOL OF JUDGEMENT AND DEATH OR SORROW, DANGER OR DESTRUCTION:
Psalms 88:7 Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with
all thy waves. Selah. (KJV)
Psalms 42:7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy
waves and thy billows are gone over me. (KJV)
Psalms 69:1 Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. (KJV)
Psalms 69:2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into
deep waters, where the floods overflow me. (KJV)
Psalms 69:14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be
delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.
(KJV)
Psalms 69:15 Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep
swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.
(KJV)
Psalms 36:6 Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments
are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast. (KJV)
MANY OF THESE O.T. SCRIPTURES TYPIFY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST ON CALVARY,
PASSING THROUGH THE WATERS OF JUDGEMENT AND DEATH FOR US. WE KNOW
THAT JESUS SAID FROM HIS OWN LIPS THAT "AS JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND
THREE NIGHTS IN THE BELLY OF A WHALE, SO SHALL THE SON OF MAN BE THREE
DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE HEART OF THE EARTH."
IT WILL BE HELPFUL FOR US TO UNDERSTAND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE DEATH
THAT CHRIST HAS TASTED FOR EVERY MAN. IT WAS NOT JUST PHYSICAL DEATH
THAT JESUS ENDURED AS OUR SUBSTITUTE, HE EXPERIENCED SEPARATION FROM
GOD AS WELL AS SPIRITUAL DEATH. WE ARE TOLD IN GEN.2:17 THAT THE
DIVINE CONDEMNATION FOR SIN IS DEATH.
Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not
eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt
surely die. (KJV)
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death
by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have
sinned: (KJV)
Romans 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed
when there is no law. (KJV)
Romans 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them
that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's
transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV)
Acts 2:24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death:
because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
Acts 2:25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always
before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be
moved: (KJV)
Acts 2:26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover
also my flesh shall rest in hope: (KJV)
Acts 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou
suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. (KJV)
JESUS HAS PASSED THROUGH THE WATERS OF GOD'S JUDGEMENT AND WRATH AND
HAS PAID THE PENALTY TO REDEEM US!
THE ARK PASSING THROUGH THE WATERS OF THE FLOOD WAS A TYPE OF CHRIST'S
DEATH AND THE RESTING OF THE ARK ON MOUNT ARARAT, AND NOAH STEPPING
FORTH ON THE NEW EARTH PREFIGURES RESURRECTION LIFE. IT IS REMARKABLE
THAT THE DATE IS GIVEN ON WHICH THE ARK RESTED ON MOUNT ARARAT AND
THAT THAT DATE CORRESPONDS WITH THE MORNING OF THE RESURRECTION. THE
ARK RESTED ON THE SEVENTH MONTH AND ON THE SEVENTEENTH DAY. THE
SEVENTH MONTH WAS THE MONTH OF ADIB BUT FROM THE TIME OF THE FIRST
PASSOVER IT BECAME THE BEGINNING OF MONTHS AND THE FIRST MONTH OF THE
YEAR ACCORDING TO EX.12:2. THIS WAS THE MONTH OF NISAN. ON THE 10TH
DAY OF THE MONTH THE PASSOVER LAMB WAS SELECTED. ON THE 14TH DAY OF
THE MONTH THE PASSOVER LAMB WAS SACRIFICED WHICH COINCIDES EXACTLY
WITH THE MONTH AND DAY THAT CHRIST WAS CRUCIFIED. HE WAS CRUCIFIED ON
THE 14TH AND WOULD RISE FROM THE DEAD ON THE 17TH, THE SAME DAY THAT
NOAH STEP OUT OF THE ARK. WAS THIS AN ACCIDENT--A MERE COINCIDENCE--
OR WAS IT NOT RATHER AND INDICATION THAT GOD HAD A PLAN DOWN TO THE
VERY YEAR, MONTH, DAY AND HOUR ON WHICH HE WOULD SAY THAT FIRST EASTER
MORNING, "THOU ART MY BELOVED SON, THIS DAY HAVE I BEGOTTEN THEE.
2. THE ENTRANCE OF THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL INTO THE PROMISED LAND AFTER PASSING
THROUGH THE JORDAN RIVER IS A TYPE OF RESURRECTION. THE JORDAN SPEAKS TO
US OF THE DEATH OF CHRIST AND IS A SYMBOL OF BAPTISM, THE PLACE WHERE WE
IDENTIFY WITH THE DEATH OF CHRIST THAT WE MIGHT ALSO TAKE PART IN RESURRECT-
ION LIFE. OUR UNION WITH CHRIST INVOLVED A UNION WITH HIS DEATH AND A
UNION IN HIS RESURRECTION.
Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above,
where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. (KJV)
Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (KJV)
Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. (KJV)
IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL CROSSED THE JORDAN RIVER THEY
WERE INSTRUCTED TO TAKE TWELVE STONES AND LEAVE THEM IN THE JORDAN BE-
FORE THE WATERS WENT BACK: THAT IS A SYMBOL OF OUR IDENTIFYING WITH
CHRIST'S DEATH. THEY WERE ALSO INSTRUCTED TO TAKE TWELVE STONES OUT
OF THE RIVER WHICH TYPIFIES OUR UNION WITH CHIRST IN HIS RESURRECTION.
Joshua 4:2 Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,
Joshua 4:3 And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of
Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve
stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the
lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night. (KJV)
Joshua 4:4 Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the
children of Israel, out of every tribe a man: (KJV)
Joshua 4:5 And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your
God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone
upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the
children of Israel: (KJV)
Joshua 4:6 That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their
fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones? (KJV)
Joshua 4:7 Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off
before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over
Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be
for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever. (KJV)
ALSO, WHEN THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL CROSSED THE RED SEA ON DRY GROUND IMMED-
IATELY AFTER THEY LEFT EGYPT IS A TYPE OF DEATH AND BAPTISMAL EXPERIENCE.
Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ
were baptized into his death? (KJV)
Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as
Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even
so we also should walk in newness of life. (KJV)
Romans 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we
shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: (KJV)
WE ARE MADE PARTAKERS OF RESURRECTION LIFE:
Eph 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; (KJV)
Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;) (KJV)
Eph 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly
places in Christ Jesus: (KJV)
3. AARON'S ROD THAT BUDDED IS ALSO A TYPE OF RESURRECTION IN THE O.T. THERE
WAS A DISPUTE CONCERNING WHETHER AARON WAS THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAD AUTHORITY
TO MINISTER UNTO THE LORD. IN NUM.17 THE LEADER OF EACH TRIBE WAS INSTRUC-
TED TO PLACE A DEAD ROD IN THE TEMPLE AND THE ONE THAT CAME TO LIFE THE NEXT
MORNING AND BUDDED WOULD BE GOD'S CHOICE. NO ONE SAW THE CHANGE TAKE PLACE,
BUT WHEN MOSES CAM IN THE MORNING THERE WAS AN ABUNDANCE EVIDENCE OF LIFE,
REMINDING US OF THE MORNING WHEN THE WOMEN CAME TO THE SEPULCHRE AT THE
RISING OF THE SUN, AND FOUND HE WHOM THEY SOUGHT WAS NOT DEAD BUT RISEN.
THIS SAME BUDDING AND BLOSOMING ROD WAS SHOWN TO ALL THE PEOPLE; AND SO WE
READ IN ACTS THAT OUT RISEN LORD "SHOWED HIMSELF ALIVE AFTER HIS PASSION, BY
MANY INFALLIBLE PROOFS.
4. IN NUMBERS 20 ARRON'S ROD THAT BUDDED WAS MENTIONED AGAIN WHEN MOSES WAS
INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THE ROD AND TO SPEAK TO THE ROCK THAT IT MIGHT GIVE FORTH
WATER. PREVIOUSLY, THE ROCK HAD BEEN SMITTEN BY THIS SAME ROD WHICH SPEAKS
TO US ABOUT THE DEATH OF CHRIST; BUT THIS TIME MOSES WAS TO HOLD IN HIS HAND
THE SYMBOL OF RESURRECTION AND SPEAK TO THE ROCK AND IT WOULD BRING FORTH
WATER. IT WAS ONLY AFTER THE RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION OF CHRIST THAT THE
HOLY SPIRIT COULD BE OUT POURED: IT IS ONLY THE RISEN, GLORIFIED CHRIST WHO
WOULD SPEAK FOR US AS OUR MEDIATOR AND SEND THE PROMISED SPIRIT.
John 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him
should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that
Jesus was not yet glorified.) (KJV)
AS OUR MEDIATOR, JESUS SPEAKS FOR US IN HEAVEN'S COURT AS OUR MOST ABLE
ADVOCATE AND INTERCESSOR.
Heb 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of
sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. (KJV)
Heb 12:25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who
refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we
turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: (KJV)
5. THERE ARE MANY MORE TYPES OF RESURRECTION IN THE O.T. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO
SHARE JUST ONE MORE WITH YOU THIS MORNING AND THAT IS THE CLEANSING OF THE
LEPER. LEPROSY IN SCRIPTURE IS A TYPE OF SIN. WHENEVER A LEPER WAS CLEANSED
OR HEALED OF HIS LEPROSY HE WAS TO OFFER A SACRIFICE BEFORE THE PRIESTS.
TWO BIRDS, ALIVE AND CLEAN WERE PRESENTED FOR THE MAN WHOSE LEPROSY WAS
HEALED. ONE BIRD WAS KILLED IN AN EARTHEN VESSEL OVER RUNNING WATER, AND
THE LIVE BIRD WAS TO BE DIPPED IN ITS BLOOD AND LET LOOSE IN AN OPENED
FIELD.
THE SHED BLOOD OF THE FIRST BIRD SPEAKS TO US OF THE DEATH OF CHRIST AT
CALVARY, AND THE SECOND BIRD OF THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST, WHO IS
GONE INTO HEAVEN AND IS ON THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD. THE BIRD FLEW HEAVEN-
WARD WITH BLOOD ON ITS WINGS. JESUS HAS ENTERED INTO HEAVEN ITSELF, WITH
HIS OWN BLOOD, TO APPEAR IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD FOR US.
Heb 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an
high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty
in the heavens; (KJV)
Heb 8:2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord
pitched, and not man. (KJV)
Heb 8:3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices:
wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
JESUS HAS A BETTER SACRIFICE TO OFFER IN HEAVEN'S COURT, HIS OWN BLOOD:
Heb 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a
greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to
say, not of this building; (KJV)
Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he
entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption
for us. (KJV)
Heb 9:13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer
sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit
offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead
works to serve the living God? (KJV)
Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by
means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were
under the first testament, they which are called might receive the
promise of eternal inheritance. (KJV)
Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without
shedding of blood is no remission. (KJV)
Heb 9:23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens
should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with
better sacrifices than these. (KJV)
Heb 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which
are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in
the presence of God for us: (KJV)
Heb 9:25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth
into the holy place every year with blood of others; (KJV)
Heb 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world:
but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin
by the sacrifice of himself. (KJV)
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the
judgment: (KJV)
Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that
look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto
salvation. (KJV)
ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT REASONS FOR THE RESURRECTION, THOUGH THERE ARE
MANY, WAS SO THAT JESUS COULD ENTER INTO AN ETERNAL, HEAVENLY MINISTRY AS OUR
MEDIATOR, ADVOCATE AND INTERCESSOR. HE, THE MAN JESUS, WHO CAN IDENTIFY WITH
ALL OF OUR HUMAN WEAKNESSES, IS SITTING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD TO APPEAR IN
THE PRESENCE OF GOD FOR US. HE IS THERE FOR US, ACTING ON OUR BEHALF. HE IS
THERE, WITH HIS OWN BLOOD WHICH HE HAS SHED FOR OUR SALVATION, FORGIVENESS,
HEALING AND DELIVERANCE. LET US COME WITH BOLDNESS AND CONFIDENCE TO THAT COM-
MUNION TABLE THIS MORNING AND EXPERIENCE A FRESH AND ANEW THAT JESUS IS ALIVE!
