WHY DEATH, RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION?
APRIL 2, 1994
TEXT: 1COR.15:1-20
1 Cor 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached
unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; (KJV)
1 Cor 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto
you, unless ye have believed in vain. (KJV)
1 Cor 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how
that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; (KJV)
1 Cor 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day
according to the scriptures: (KJV)
1 Cor 15:5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: (KJV)
1 Cor 15:6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of
whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen
asleep. (KJV)
1 Cor 15:7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. (KJV)
1 Cor 15:8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due
time. (KJV)
1 Cor 15:9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an
apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. (KJV)
1 Cor 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was
bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly
than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
1 Cor 15:11 Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye
believed. (KJV)
1 Cor 15:12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some
among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? (KJV)
1 Cor 15:13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not
risen: (KJV)
1 Cor 15:14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your
faith is also vain. (KJV)
1 Cor 15:15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have
testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if
so be that the dead rise not. (KJV)
1 Cor 15:16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: (KJV)
1 Cor 15:17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your
sins. (KJV)
1 Cor 15:18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
1 Cor 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most
miserable. (KJV)
1 Cor 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of
them that slept. (KJV)
1 Cor 15:21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of
the dead. (KJV)
1 Cor 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1 Cor 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward
they that are Christ's at his coming. (KJV)
AS WE CELEBARATE THE GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT BY ANY MAN, THE RESURRECTION
OF THE DEAD, THIS EASTER, LET US GIVE ALL PRAISE AND HONOR AND GLORY TO THAT
MAN: JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR. EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW AND EVERY TONGUE
SHALL CONFESS, OF THINGS IN HEAVEN, AND THINGS IN THE EARTH AND IN THINGS UNDER
THE EARTH THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER. FOR HE HAS
SPOILED PRINCIPALITIES AND POWERS AND HAS MADE AN OPEN SHAME OF THEM IN HIS
DEATH, RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION TO THE FATHER. DEATH IS ABOLISHED AND HE HAS
BROUGHT LIFE AND IMORTALITY TO LIGHT AND HAS BEGOTTEN US AGAIN UNTO A LIVING
HOPE BY THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST FROM THE DEATH. HE SAID, "I AM THE
RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE: HE THAT BELIEVES IN ME, THOUGH HE WERE DEAD, YET
SHALL HE LIVE. WE CAN HAVE THIS WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE IF WE BELIEVE AND IF WE
KNOW WHAT WE BELIEVE AND REMEMBER IT. COMMUNION IS A TIME FOR US TO REMEMBER
WHAT CHRIST HAS ACCOMPLISHED FOR US IN HIS DEATH, RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION TO
THE FATHER.
THIS MORNING WE WANT TO LOOK AT THE SIGNIFICANCE OF HOW AND WHY CHRIST DIED
FOR OUR SINS ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES. WE WANT TO LOOK AT WHY THE RESURRECT-
ION IS ESSENTIAL FOR JUSTIFICATION, FORGIVENESS AND SALVATION AND WHAT IS THE
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ASCENSION OF JESUS TO THE FATHER. IT IS INTRESTING TO NOTE
THAT ON THAT FIRST RESURRECTION MORNING THAT JESUS JOINED HIMSELF TO TWO OF THE
DISCIPLES ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS AND AT THE BREAKING OF BREAD REVEALED HIMSELF TO
THEM. ON THIS EASTER SERVICE THIS MORNING I HOPE THAT CHRIST WILL COME TO YOU
VIA THE HOLY SPIRIT AT THE COMMUNION TABLE AND REVEAL HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR
YOU AS YOU REMEMBER HIS DEATH RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION TO THE FATHER.
Luke 24:13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called
Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. (KJV)
Luke 24:14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
Luke 24:15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned,
Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. (KJV)
Luke 24:16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. (KJV)
Luke 24:17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that
ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? (KJV)
Luke 24:18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him,
Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things
which are come to pass there in these days? (KJV)
Luke 24:19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him,
Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and
word before God and all the people: (KJV)
Luke 24:20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be
condemned to death, and have crucified him. (KJV)
Luke 24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel:
and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were
done. (KJV)
Luke 24:22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which
were early at the sepulchre; (KJV)
Luke 24:23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had
also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. (KJV)
Luke 24:24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and
found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. (KJV)
Luke 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all
that the prophets have spoken: (KJV)
Luke 24:26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his
glory? (KJV)
Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them
in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. (KJV)
Luke 24:28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made
as though he would have gone further. (KJV)
Luke 24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and
blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. (KJV)
Luke 24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of
their sight. (KJV)
Luke 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while
he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the
scriptures? (KJV)
Luke 24:33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found
the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, (KJV)
JESUS BEGAN WITH MOSES AND ALL THE PROPHETS AND EXPOUNDED UNTO THE DISCIP-
LES THE NECESSITY OF HIS SUFFERING, HIS DEATH, HIS RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION TO
THE FATHER. WHAT A BIBLE STUDY THAT MUST HAVE BEEN. THIS MORNING WE ARE ONLY
GOLING TO LOOK BRIEFLY AT THE SIFINIFICANCE OF THESE THINGS.
WHY WAS THE DEATH OF CHRIST NECESSARY:
GOD DESIRED RELATIONSHIP AND PARTNERSHIP WITH MAN IN HIS ETERNAL PURPOSES
WHEN HE CREATED MAN IN HIS OWN IMAGE AND LIKENESS. BUT AS A RESULT OF DIRECT
AND OPEN REBELLION MAN DISOBEYED GOD AND WAS SEPARATED FROM GOD. IN GOD'S PUR-
SUIT OF THE FULFILLMENT OF HIS ETERNAL PURPOSES HE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO MAKE
PROVISION FOR THE SIN THAT RESULTED IN SEPARATION. WHY WAS THE SUFFERING OF JESU
CHRIST ESSENTIAL TO OUR JUSTIFICATION, FORGIVENESS AND SALVATION? THE APOSTLE
PAUL TELLS US IN ROMANS:
Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for
the ungodly. (KJV)
THE PROBLEM THAT SEPARATED MAN FROM GOD AND GOD FROM MAN WAS A SIN PRO-
BLEM AND MAN DID NOT HAVE THE MORAL STRENGTH TO ADEQUATELY DEAL WITH IT. JESUS
CHRIST, HOWEVER, HAD THE MORAL APPTITUDE AND ABILITY TO PUT AWAY SIN BY THE
OFFERING OF HIMSELF. JESUS WAS SENT BY THE FATHER TO BE OUR SPOTLESS LAMB--ONE
WHO IS MORALLY PERFECT AND SINLESS--TO TAKE AWAY THE SINS OF THE WORLD BY ATON-
ING FOR THEIR SINS.
1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God
sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through
him. (KJV)
IT WAS NECESSARY FOR JESUS CHRIST TO COME INTO THIS WORLD AS THE LAST ADAM
AND ACCOMPLISH FOR ALL OF MANKIND WHAT THE FIRST ADAM WAS UNABLE TO DO. SO
JESUS WAS MADE OF A WOMAN IN THE INCARNATION AND CAME TO THIS WORLD AS A PER-
FECT, SINLESS MAN--HE WAS MADE SUBJECT TO THE LAW TO REDEEM THEM THAT WERE UNDER
THE LAW, THAT WE MIGHT RECEIVE THE ADOPTION OF SONS. (GAL.4:4-5)
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by
sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
THE DIVINE PENALTY OR CONDEMNATION FOR SIN WAS DEATH: FOR GOD SAID TO ADAM
AND HIS WIFE EVE, FOR IN THE DAY THAT YOU EAT OF THE FRUIT OF THE KNOWELDGE OF
GOOD AND EVEIL, IN THAT DAY YOU SHALL SURELY DIE. BY WAY OF ADAM'S TRANSGRESSION
THE SERPENT, THE DEVIL BECAME THE EXECUTOR OF THE SENTENCE OF DEATH. MAN LOST
HIS AUTHORITY AND DOMINION TO LIVE ON AN ETERNAL BASIS. IN ORDER FOR MAN TO
GAIN WHAT HE LOST THERE NEEDED TO BE ANOTHER MORALLY PERFECT MAN WHO COULD LIVE
A SINLESS LIFE AND SO QUALIFY IN GOD'S EYES TO BECOME A SUBSTITUTE FOR ALL OF
MANKIND AND TAKE THEIR PLACE OF PUNISHMENT IN THE EXECUTION OF THE DIVINE SENT-
ENCE OF CONDEMNATION. JESUS WILLINGLY SUBMITTED TO BECOMING OUR SUBSTITUTE AND
TOOK OUR PLACE ON THE CROSS AND DECENDED INTO HELL FOR THREE DAYS AND THREE
NIGHTS IN ORDER TO PAY FOR THE FULL PENALTY FOR THE AGGRAGATE SIN OF MANKIND.
THERE IS SOMETHING THAT WE MANY TIMES FAIL TO SEE IN THE SENTECNE OF DEATH.
IT WAS NOT JUST PHYSICAL DEATH THAT JESUS ENDURED BUT IT WAS ALSO OF NECESSITY,
SPIRITUAL DEATH OF SEPARATION FROM GOD IN A PLACE CALLED HELL. JESUS WENT TO
HELL FOR YOU AND ME AND SUFFERED NOT FOR HIS OWN SINS, BUT FOR ALL THIS SINS OF
THE HUMAN RACE.
Psalms 88:3 For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the
grave. (KJV)
Psalms 88:4 I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that
hath no strength: (KJV)
Psalms 88:5 Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou
rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand. (KJV)
Psalms 88:6 Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.
Psalms 88:7 Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all
thy waves. Selah. (KJV)
Psalms 88:8 Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me
an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.
Psalms 88:9 Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily
upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee. (KJV)
Psalms 88:13 But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my
prayer prevent thee. (KJV)
Psalms 88:14 LORD, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from
me? (KJV)
Psalms 88:15 I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: while I suffer
thy terrors I am distracted. (KJV)
Psalms 88:16 Thy fierce wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me off. (KJV)
Psalms 88:17 They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about
together. (KJV)
Psalms 88:18 Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, and mine acquaintance
into darkness. (KJV)
PAUL BILLHIEMER SAYS: (Destined For the Cross) WHEN THE CLAIMS OF ETERNAL JUS-
TICE WERE FULLY DISCHARGED CHRIST WAS JUSTIFIED IN THE SPIRIT ACCORDING TO
1 TIM.3:16. HE WAS THEN MADE ALIVE IN THE SPIRIT ACCORDING TO 1 PET.3:18.
HIS SPIRIT WAS NOT ANNIHILATED. IT ONLY DIED SPIRITUALLY LIKE ANY SINFUL
HUMAN SPIRIT. IT WAS COMPLETELY CUT OFF AND SEPARATED FROM GOD. AS LONG
AS HE WAS INDENTIFIED WITH SIN (WHEN GOD PLACED ALL OF OUR SINS ON HIM) HE
WAS IN THE CLUTCHES OF SATAN AND THE HOSTS OF HELL, JUST LIKE ANY LOST SIN-
NER. THUS, IN ORDER TO BE MADE ALIVE UNTO GOD AND RESTORED TO FELLOWSHIP
WITH THE FATHER, HE HAD TO BE REBORN--FOR HE HAD BECOME THE VERY ESSENCE OF
SIN. SINCE SIN HAD TOTALLY ALIENATED HIM FROM THE FATHER, THE ONLY WAY HE
COULD BE RESTORED TO FELLOWSHIP WITH THE FATHER WAS THROUGH A NEW BIRTH TO
NEW LIFE. THIS IS THE MEANING OF REV.5:1 "Jesus Christ is the first beg-
otten from among the dead." WHEN HE WAS JUSTIFIED AND MADE ALIVE, ADJUDGED
AND DECLARED RIGHTEOUS IN THE SUPREME COURT OF THE UNIVERSE, THE TABLES
WERE TURNED. THE BATTLE IN THE CAVERN OF DESPAIR IS DESCRIBED BY PETER:
Acts 2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of
God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
Acts 2:24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it
was not possible that he should be holden of it. (KJV)
Acts 2:25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my
face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: (KJV)
Acts 2:26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also
my flesh shall rest in hope: (KJV)
Acts 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer
thine Holy One to see corruption. (KJV)
WHY WAS THE RESURRECTION ESENTIAL TO SALVATION:
THE RESURRECTION IS PROOF OF THE FACT THAT GOD HAS ACCEPTED THE DEATH OF
CHRIST AS A MEANS BY WHICH THE SIN PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED AND MAN CAN NOW
COME INTO INTIMATE FELLOWSHIP AND COMMUNION WITH THE FATHER. THE RESURRECTION
IS THE FATHER'S VALIDATION THAT CHRIST'S DEATH WAS VICARIOUS, THAT IT WAS AC-
CEPTED BY THE FATHER AS SUFFICIENT TO PROVIDE JUSTIFICATION, FORGIVENESS AND
SALVATION FOR ALL OF MANKIND. THE DIVINE CONDEMNATION FOR SIN WAS DEATH. THE
RESURRECTION IS PROOF THAT JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS AND NOT HIS OWN OTHERWISE
THERE WOULD BE NO LEGAL CAUSE FOR THE RESURRECTIUON.
PAUL BILLHEIMER: WHEN THE RESULTS OF CALVARY AR ADEQUATELY APPRAISED, IT APPEARS
FOR WHAT IT IS: THE TRUIMPH OF THE AGES. WHEN JESUS DIED WITHOUT FAILING
IN THE SMALLEST DETAIL, HIS DEATH RESULTED NOT ONLY IN DEFEATING SATAN'S
PURPOSE TO OBTAIN A CLAIM ON HIM--IT ALSO CANCELLED ALL OF SATAN'S LEGAL
CLAIMS UPON THE EARTH AND THE WHOLE HUMAN RACE. UNDER UNIVERSAL JURIS-
PRUDENCE, WHEN A MAN COMMITS MURDER HE BECOMES SUBJECT TO THE DEATH PENALTY
A CONVICTED MURDERER FORFIETS HIS OWN LIFE. WHEN SATAN SECURED THE DEATH
OF JESUS HE BECAME, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS AGE-LONG HISTORY, A MURDERER.
HE WHO HAD THE POWER OF DEATH HAD SLAIN HIS MILLIONS WITH IMPUNITY SINCE
THE FALL OF ADAM BECAUSE HE HAD A LEGAL RIGHT TO DO SO. AS A SLAVE OWNER,
SATAN HAD A LEGAL TITLE TO ADAM AND ALL HIS OFFSPRING. HE COULD DO WITH
THEM WHAT HE CHOSE. BUT NOW SATAN HAD COMMITTED THE MOST COLOSSAL BLUNDER
IN ALL HIS DIOBOLICAL CAREER. IN HIS DESPERATE EFFORT TO BREAK JESUS'S
ONENESS WITH THE FATHER HE KILLED AN INNOCENT MAN UPON WHOM HE HAD NO LEGAL
CLAIM. IN DOING SO HE COMMITTED MURDER AND IN THE COURT OF DIVINE JUSTICE
HE BROUGHT UPON HIMSELF THE SENTENCE OF DEATH: SEE HEB.2:14
Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he
also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he
might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
(KJV)
Heb 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime
subject to bondage. (KJV)
Heb 2:16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him
the seed of Abraham. (KJV)
Heb 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his
brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in
things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the
people. (KJV)
Heb 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to
succour them that are tempted. (KJV)
THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS HAD TO TAKE PLACE--THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY, POSI-
TIVELY NO CHANCE THAT IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN BECAUSE JESUS WAS LEGALLY FREE FROM
THE DIVINE CONDEMNANTION FOR SIN BECAUSE HE DID NO SIN, NEITHER WAS THERE GUILE
FOUND IN HIS MOUTH. SINCE JESUS DID NOT DIE FOR HIS OWN SINS, THE RESURRECTION
IS PROOF THAT HE DIED FOR OUR SINS THAT SHOULD WE BELIEVE ON HIM WE SHOULD HAVE
ETERNAL LIFE.
NOW WHY WASTHE ASCENSION TO THE FATHER NECESSARY:
THERE ARE TYPES AND SHADOWS THAT RUN THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE O.T. THAT POINT
TO THE SUFFERING, DEATH, RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION OF CHRIST. ONE OF THOSE
TYPES AND SHADOWS CAN BE SEEN IN THE LAW OF THE LEPER. NOW REMEMBER, LEPROSY
IS A TYPE OF SIN; SO WE READ IN:
Lev 14:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, (KJV)
Lev 14:2 This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He
shall be brought unto the priest: (KJV)
Lev 14:3 And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall
look, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper;
Lev 14:4 Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed
two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:
Lev 14:5 And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an
earthen vessel over running water: (KJV)
Lev 14:6 As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the
scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the
blood of the bird that was killed over the running water: (KJV)
Lev 14:7 And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy
seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living
bird loose into the open field. (KJV)
HERE WE HAVE A BEAUTIFUL PICTURE OF THE CLEANSING OF THE SINNER WHEN HE BY
FAITH APPLYS THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST TO HIS PERSONAL SIN. THE BLOOD IS
ACCEPTED BY GOD AS DOING ON THE ALTAR WHAT THE SINNER COULD NOT DO FOR HIMSELF.
BUT WHAT ALTAR ARE WE TALKING ABOUT. SURELY NOT THE ALTAR IN THE O.T. TEMPLE.
NO, NOT THE ALTAR ON EARTH BUT THE ALTAR IN HEAVEN. THE ASCENSION OF JESUS
CHRISTS WAS ESSENTAIL BECAUSE JESUS TOOK HIS OWN BLOOD, TYPIFIED IN THE LIVE
BIRD, AND WENT BACK UP INTO HEAVEN TO APPEAR IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD FOR US AS
A LAMB THAT HAD BEEN SLAIN. THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST CAN NOW BE SEEN BY GOD ON
THE ALTAR IN HEAVEN AND CAN ACCOMPLISH PERFECT ATONEMENT FOR OUR SIN PROVIDING
US WITH JUSTIFICATION, FORGIVENESS AND SALVATION:
Heb 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an
high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty
in the heavens; (KJV)
Heb 8:2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord
pitched, and not man. (KJV)
Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he
is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better
promises. (KJV)
Heb 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe
Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. (KJV)
Heb 7:15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of
Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, (KJV)
Heb 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the
power of an endless life. (KJV)
Heb 7:17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of
Melchisedec. (KJV)
Heb 7:23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to
continue by reason of death: (KJV)
Heb 7:24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable
priesthood. (KJV)
Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto
God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. (KJV)
Heb 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which
are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in
the presence of God for us: (KJV)
Heb 9:25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth
into the holy place every year with blood of others; (KJV)
Heb 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world:
but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin
by the sacrifice of himself. (KJV)
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the
judgment: (KJV)
Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that
look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto
salvation. (KJV)
Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four
beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been
slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of
God sent forth into all the earth. (KJV)
AS WE PREPARE OUR HEARTS FOR COMMUNION THIS MORNING LET US REMEMBER WHAT
CHRIST HAS ACCOMPLISHED FOR US IN HIS DEATH, RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION TO THE
FATHER.__
