But it was the one US Vinyl needed for insurance to win its first National Championship, beating defending champion Kluever’s Snap-On/BJ Logging 13-8, in eight innings. In four previous trips to the plate Woldyk, who was named tourney MVP, was hitless. Before entering the batter’s box in the eighth, he asked his teammates for some advice. They said just swing hard. And he did, sending the ball over the left center field (370') fence for a one-out grand slam to give his team a seven run cushion entering the bottom of the eighth inning. They bested a field of three by winning four consecutive games en route to the title. In four games they scored 84 runs and allowed only 25 runs, hitting 33 HRs among its 80 hits led by tourney HR champ Brett Helmer (7 HRs among his 9-13, .692 performance). After scoring six runs in the first inning of the championship game AM/Las Vegas opened up the throttle on offense in the second inning by scoring 15 runs on nine hits. Helmer, who was added to the AM/Las Vegas roster for this event, highlighted the inning with a grand slam. Tourney MVP Danny Crine, Billy Joe 'BJ' Fulk, Brian Justice and Kris O’Hara each hit homers in the inning. AM/Las Vegas outfit the Armed Forces, 20-7. Three of Helmer’s homers, worth eight RBIs, came in the championship game and he finished the game 3-for-3. Justice plated five runs with a pair of homers and a single, Alex Lavorico smashed three homers in four at-bats to drive in four runs and Fulk had a 3-Run HR in the 15 run second. The winners bracket final between Troy Redmen and St. Patricks was tied 6-6 in the fifth inning when torrential rains came and washed away the rest of the tournament. Troy and St. Pats were awarded Co-Champs and Des Speilhaus of Wisconsin and Fairport Merchants of Rochester third and fourth respectively. Both were alive in the losers bracket. Jefferson County Merchants and 5&10 Tap were awarded 5th and 6th as they were still alive as well, but did not advance as far as the other two teams with one loss. Also, Fairport defeated Jefferson County head-to-head. In the final few games played: Winner's bracket - Fairport Rochester Merchants defeated Jefferson County Merchants 4-1. As for St. Patricks, they defeated Jets Sets (10-5), Merchants (12-Milford Merchants (10-5), Shoneys (6-2) and 5&10 Tap (10-3) for a scoring margin of 36-15. Game-1: Creative Stucco hit seven home runs, with the big blast a pinch-hit grand slam from Joe Ausec that broke an 18-18 tie in the bottom of the fifth. Gay/Aubrey’s ( Gainesville , FL ) won the toss in game two and capitalized with a walk-off home run by Billy Eurice in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Advanced/Mountain Top ( Texarkana , TX ) 28-26. Eurice remained perfect at the plate for the tournament going 4-four-4 with two home runs and five RBI. So far in the tournament, Eurice is 7-for-7 with four home runs and 13 RBI. Other standout performances for W.W. Gay came from Mike Thomas (3-for-4, six RBI), Chad Carver (2-for-4, five RBI) and Jose Santiago (4-for-4, three RBI). Advanced/Mountain Top looked strong at the plate full-filling its home run limit of nine in the sixth inning. Despite not having the long ball to rely on, Advanced was able to score seven runs in the seventh to extend its lead to 26-23 but the lead would not hold. Paul Sheppard went 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBI to pace Advanced at the plate. John Glidewell had three home runs in the game while Wade Casey finished with two. W.W. Gay could close out the series in three games today when it faces Advanced at 2 p.m. at Lagoon Park
Game-3; Advanced/Mountain Top (Texarkana, TX) kept its national championship hopes alive in game three of the Men’s Class A division of the Hooters Championship Series with a 25-18 victory over W.W. Gay/ Aubrey’s (Gainesville, FL). Rickie Robbins came through in the clutch going 5-for-5 with five runs scored, two home runs and five RBI. Matt Arlett had two home runs and six RBI, while Wade Casey went 2-for-3 with four RBI. Shawn Snow hit a grand slam in the fourth and went 3-for-5 in the game with six RBI to lead W.W. Gay offensively. Billy Eurice, one of the most explosive offensive players in the tournament, once again went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI.
Game-4; Advanced/Mountain Top (Texarkana, TX) came back from an 0-2 deficit to win game four in just five innings, 31-19, over W.W. Gay/Aubrey’s (Gainesville, FL) to force a fifth and deciding game in the best of five series. Advanced outscored W.W. Gay 21-9 in the first three innings to distance itself in the contest. Shawn Robinson went 5-for-5 with a home run, scored four and drove in three runs. Wade Casey also contributed big in the game going 4-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI. Shawn Snow had another big game for W.W. Gay going 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI. Trey Royal was perfect with three hits and three RBIs.
Game-5; Advanced/Mountain Top of Texarkana, TX did the improbable and came back from an 0-2 deficit in the best of five series to win three consecutive games including the all important game five to class the national championship for the Men’s Class A division at the Hooters National Championship Series. Advanced defeated W.W. Gay/Aubrey’s of Gainesville , FL 36-31in the final game to claim the title. After exhausting its allotment of home runs for the game in the fifth inning, Advanced had to rely on timely base hits to take the lead in the seventh inning. It managed to score 12 runs in the seventh without a home run to its credit. W.W. Gay mounted a charge in the final frame, scoring four runs but was unable to keep the ball in the park and were called out for going over its home run limit. Vince Bisbee was a popular choice for MVP after going 3-for-7 with four runs scored in the final game. Teammate Richie Robbins went 5-for-7 with seven RBI in the championship game, while Rob Gundry and Shawn Robinson both accounted for two home runs and five RBI for the winning team. Brett McDaniel starred for W.W. Gay in the finale going 4-for-6 with two home runs and seven RBI. Billy Eurice also had a good night at the plate going 4-for-6 with a home run and four RBI.

Game-1: In the opening contest Berardi’s nailed nine home runs to cruise past Meridian 39-22. Shawn Harkins was impressive going 5-for-5 with three home runs while Doug Martin and Bo Franklin matched his efforts also going 5-for-5.
Game-2: Things didn’t change much in game two as Berardi’s outscored Meridian 34-20 for its second win of the series. Harkins and Franklin were once again instrumental in the offensive effort. Harkins went 3-for-3 and had a three run home run while Franklin remained perfect at the plate going 4-for-4 with six RBI.
Game-3: Meridian avoided the sweep by defeating Berardi’s 29-26 in game three. Tim McClendon and Steven Lynn each drove in five RBI in the game.
Game-4: Berardi’s refocused in the game four and managed to breeze past Meridian 37-25 to secure the title. Franklin had three home runs and six RBI in the game to continue his torrid pace. Joey Resing, Fred Ditto and Martin all delivered four RBI. Martin was selected as the series MVP for his efforts. “This tournament has been an exceptional experience,” said Berardi’s manager Neil Sapp. “This is certainly something we will never forget. This team played as well as it has all season. We got down a couple of times against Meridian but these players never gave up and showed how much they wanted this title.”

Trailing at the time, Synergy scored 14 in the 5th inning to turn the tide of the series as they came out on top of a wild 37-36 game. Chris Chilton of Team Synergy was 5-5 with 2 HRs and 10 RBIs in the game. Nate Johnson, Johnny Dykes, Chad Bragg, and Jose Santiago (3 HRs, 8 RBIs) all had 5 hits for the winners. Long Haul Trucking/Miken swept the series with an impressive 26-18 victory over Berardi’s in the third game of the best-of-five series. Long Haul jumped out early to record six runs in the top of the first. Berardi’s would not go away easy, tallying 8 runs in the bottom of the first to capture the lead. Both teams slowed down offensively after the fireworks that started the game. Long Haul got only three runs in the next three innings, including a scoreless top of the sixth However, Berardi’s only managed to plate one run over the same time frame, making the final inning a do or die situation for the them. Long Haul went into the top of the 7th and HRs by Lance Dudley Adam Peterson sparked a fire as Long Haul scored seven runs to add to their lead. Berardi’s had a chance in the bottom of the seventh, but the first three Berardi’s batters made outs. Long Haul captured the Hooters Class A Championship. Adam Peterson was named Tournament MVP, The win for Long Haul Trucking/Miken was its fifth in five games between the two teams this year. The John Daniel sponsored team finished the year 54-12. In a game that lasted only four innings, KME/Chaney’s/Body Glove routed a determined Long Haul team 33-9 in the championship game at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City, OK to capture the 2006 ASA Class A National Championship. KME pounded out 32 hits in the final while holding Long Haul to just 13 hits. Brett Helmer (three doubles and a two-run homer) and outfielder John Bailey had four hits apiece to lead the high-powered KME offense. Bailey had a game-high nine RBIs on three homers and a single. KME outfielder Donovan Pokraka went 3-4 with 2 RBIs in the championship game and was named the tournament MVP. Geno Buck added a solo homer, which was his 10th of the tournament to lead all hitters. In the 28 games played, a total of 217 HRs were hit by the 15 teams. The Limit of 16 home runs (8 per team), was not reached once during the entire tournament. As a matter of fact, only six teams combined for double digit Homers. The Class-A HR limit per team per game is 8.

They were sent to the loser’s bracket after falling to defending champ Chaney’s Pytche Blakk/Execute Sports/Easton, 25-11. But two games later, Long Haul and Chaney’s found themselves in a rematch of last year’s title game. Long Haul forced the championship into the “if” game after posting a 27-20 victory. In the winner-take-all final game, the bats of Long Haul were scorching and blazed past Chaney’s 33-5 to redeem themselves from a year ago. Long Haul’s Greg Flees went 4-5 with 3 HRs and 11 RBIs, Lenny Cunitz was 4-4 with 2 HRs and 5 RBIs, Lance Dalby also had 4 hits in the final game. Pitcher Geno Buck surrendered only 5 runs on 10 hits. Brett Helmer of Chaney's was the only player with 2 hits, one of them being a home run. Long Haul’s Greg Flees was named the tournament MVP after batting .741 with 26 RBI on 7 HR. He was also named as the batting champion, while Chaney’s Brett Helmer won the home run title with 9.

ABS Easton of Delaware traveled the furthest for the ASA Class A National Championship. And the trip was worth it. ABS returns to Delaware as the 2008 ASA A National Champ after turning back a determined TCP team 15-10, in the if game at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. The loss ended a tremendous run for TCP, who finished 6-2, which was led by pitcher Losson White who was named the tournament’s MVP and clearly deserved it as he did everything he could to propel his team to victory. In fact, if it wasn’t for White, TCP might not have advanced to the if game. It was White’s two-run scorching liner off in the bottom of the seventh that scored the winning and tying runs in a 20-19 win in the first championship game to force the if game. The 29-year-old White batted .677 and drove in 12 runs. The front of White’s jersey was evident how hard he worked to get TCP to the championship. It was covered with the Oklahoma red clay as he time and time again dove for balls and stopped them to make the play, some of them spectacular. Brett Helmer, one of the pick-ups for ABS, drove in three runs and finished with a 3-for-4 performance and shared the HR trophy with two other players. The tournament leading hitter was Brian Wegman of ABS, the other ABS pick-up, who batted .900 (18-20, with 7 HRs and 18 RBIs). Winning pitcher Bill Honeycutt and Shaun Ballard also had 3 hits each for ABS, which won its 1st ASA Class A title.

Buck also batted fourth for Long Haul and had a (3-5 performance including a 2-run HR) in the championship game. It was one of 8 home runs hit by Long Haul. Mike Rhines (3B) and Brett McCollum (SS) had two homers apiece to lead Long Haul. Fence Fence Brokers hit seven homers with Dennis Schrum leading the offense with a 3-3 performance. Chaun Demars of FenceBrokers was the Home Run leader with 10. He batted .600 and had 22 RBIs.

Dan Smith/Menosse may have entered the weekend with a first game 41-40 disappointing loss, but it didn’t matter because they proceeded to win eight consecutive games in capturing its first ASA Class-A National title. The 2010 Champions capped the impressive performance by winning three games on the last day, including beating defending champion Long Haul twice, 36-21 and 37-24 at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex. The Dan Smith team was very impressive because in 9 games they scored 339 runs and allowed 217. They hit 65 homers with Brian Wegman, Dan Smith's Middle Infielder leading the way with 12 dingers and 47 RBI. Wegman was named the tournament MVP and sparkled on defense as well. He was an incredible 41-51 on the weekend with an .804 batting average. The Dan Smith team compiled a .705 average while holding their opponents to a .601 average. Wegman was also the tournament HR champ with 12. Fence Broker's John Glidewell was the batting champ going 13-15 with 6 HRs and 14 RBIs. He had an .867 average.

Brett Helmer and teammate Travis Clark captured two of the top awards. Helmer was named MVP. He was 19-26, .826 average with 5 HRs and 17 RBIs. Clark was the tournament batting leader with a .864 average (19-22), with 15 runs scored and seven 2Bs. Annihilation went undefeated in their 5 games, outscoring their opponents 142-59. They has 32 hits in the final game with Greg Connell leading the way with a 4-5, 6 RBI game.

Sonny’s shortstop Jonathan Lenz was named the tournament MVP, recording a batting average of .743 (26-35). Teammate Chris Greinert recorded a remarkable 42 RBI and earned the home run title with 14.

Cory Large and Brad Reckart each had 4 hits. The O&S Cattlemen then defeated the Armed Forces 30-21 in the losers bracket final behind Dale Drungardt's 6-6 performance which included a HR and 4 RBIs. Pitcher Geno Buck had 3 HRs and 7 RBIs. Lee Powers and Dennis Rulli combined for 9 hits for the Cattlemen. The Championship Game was won handily by the Long Haul squad 41-29. Long Haul had a 24-23 lead after 4, but then broke it open with 17 runs in the final 3 innings. They recorded 49 hits in the game. Tourny MVP Brian Wegman was 7-7 with 3 HRs, 8 RBIs and 7 Runs Scored. Cory Large, Brandon Dillon, Kevin Filby and Mike Umscheid all had 6 hits apiece. For the O&S squad, Dennis Rulli (5-6), Lee Powers (4-6) and Geno Buck (4-5) led the way for O&S. Dale Brungardt of O&S was the HR champ with 11. Pearson racked up 10 RBI on five hits for ASPNation.com, singling in the fourth and sixth innings while sending out two long balls.
ASPNation.com never trailed after scoring 12 runs in the first inning on three, three-run home runs, an RBI single by Matt Vern, and a two-run triple by Brian McBryde. Precision would score three runs in the bottom of the second to cut its deficit to nine before ASPNation.com increased its lead with five runs in the fourth.
An 11-run sixth inning helped seal the eventual win for ASPNation.com. Down to their final at-bat and trailing by 17, Precision made the game interesting as the team launched six home runs to mount a comeback. With one out and trailing by three, ASPNation.com turned a double play to end the game. ASPNation.com went undefeated to claim the title with a perfect 5-0 record while hitting .682 as a team.

A perfect 4-0 record resulted in Precision earning the Men’s Class A Slow Pitch National Championship title. With the help of Tournament MVP Steele Lewis, Precision earned the trophy after defeating ASP/KV Weld/A&A Utility/OA Labs 29-19 in the Championship Game. The two teams had met previously in the winner’s bracket finals with Precision earning the same fate with a closely fought 27-26 win over ASP.
Precision jumped out to a two-run lead in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. Scoring in all but one inning during the game, Precision was powered by Lewis who went 3-for-5 with six RBI in the contest, including two home runs. Travis Clark, Pat Elwanger and John Williams each had four RBI in the win for Precision, with Clark and Williams also hitting out two home runs in the win.
ASP earned a spot in the Championship Game after defeating FK/Pauer Sports 36-7 in four innings earlier in the day. Jason Hoynewski of FK/Pauer Sports was named batting champion after leading the tournament with a .857 batting average. FK/Pauer Sports teammate Ryan Stovall was named home run champion after hitting 11 home runs.
