Welcome to my page. I'm the "mother" of Stoner McTavish, the popular lesbian amateur detective. Stoner has seven books out now; the latest (SHAMAN'S MOON) won the Lambda Literary Award for Best Lesbian Mystery for 1998. A new Stoner is currently in the works (mostly in my head), called LOVE MURDERS. I also write plays, and have a published volume called "Lesbian Stages." AND, in my spare time, I've written a non-mystery novel, SOLITAIRE AND BRAHMS. I'm also a clinical psychologist, specializing in women's issues and dream analysis. In 1997, at the age of 60, I was diagnosed with Adult Attention Deficit Disorder, which is why I sometimes forget to answer my mail. I've recently taken up the practice of Core Shamanism. On a more personal level, I'm an Aries (March 26, 1937), born in Hanover, Pennsylvania. It's a good place for a lesbian to be from as it creates a driving and life-long ambition to Get And Stay The Hell Out Of There. Graduated from Wellesley College in the same class as Miss Manners. They wanted to throw me out for being a lesbian, but cooler heads prevailed. Went to Graduate School in Psychology at Purdue University — called by "Time" magazine, "a hot-bed of student rest." Moved to Amherst, MA, in 1965, in time for the Women's Movement. I "came out" at 35. I have a dog (Husky/Shepherd named Luna, 80 pounds, she sleeps on my bed or anywhere else she wants), like to putter in my garden, and spend quiet time at my cabin in the wilds of the Berkshires with the resident bear and coyotes. What else can I tell you about me? What would you like to know? E-mail me. I'll try to answer and post it here.
