July 9, 2004: Hurrah. One new pluggo today, more coming soon. Check
back in a couple of weeks as I'm really busy at the moment. This one
is called "Re-Noiser", which i hope doesn't infringe on any copyrights...
I've got 99 problems and I'm not particularly gunning for any round numbers.
The spectral effects that have been causing me grief are still not running,
so don't hold your breath on those please. And again, no OSX versions
for
the forseeable future. These are OS 9 only. Important:
All plugins are freeware unless otherwise noted in the Readme file. Use
them at your own risk. Recordor
- this
is a really simple & stupid recorder. Stick it last in your VST-FX
chain to record all your knob fiddling. MAX/MSP/Pluggo:
Other
Software & Plugins (VST etc.): Somewhat
related links that I find fascinating:
These Pluggos (for Mac OS9 only!) are intended for those of you who enjoy
cheesy digital effects. They are not meant to look fancy or be spectacular-sounding.
They may, however, be fun to play with. Please let me know if you like
them. Please let me know if you don't like them. But especially the former.
You can reach me here.
Mungrainer
- this chops the input into
little tiny bits and moves them around in various fun ways. Good for adding
some dirt to clean keyboards, or cutting vocals into oblivion. Based on
the munger~ object from Dan Trueman & R. Luke DuBois' set of objects
called PeRColate, which can be found here.
NOTE: you MUST install the PeRColate objects for this plugin to
work!
Delay-O-Rama
- Really simple plugin - two
short delay lines that are time-modulatable. Fun for making drony, pitched
drum sounds or turning everything all wiggly. Check out the presets and
see what I mean.
Origamist
- distortion
plugin with two modes: reflection and wraparound. There's also a preamp
and lowpass filter inside this CPU-friendly (and dare I say attractive?)
little box.
Phad
- phase
modulator that ranges from subtle stereo to gurgling and screaming.
Guadalupe
- instant loopy-type tool. Can achieve some truly wacky
effects.
Combernation
- someone asked me about a comb filter-type effect. This
isn't exactly what you wanted but it's kind of fun.
Re-Noiser (NEW
July 9/04)- adds noise to your audio - variable-rate random or white
- and contains a
filter section. Read the Readme.
PostSomnia
- some pluggo plugins with nice GUIs.
greg davis - a whole
bunch of pluggo plugins - currently being updated for X.
the lone roger - more free
pluggos, including a nice reverb.
unauthorized max - loads of MAX/MSP
objects. Hasn't been updated in a while though.
snot
wong's patches - haven't tried these yet but looks like a bunch of
potentially useful MAX/MSP patches.
cycling '74 - home of
MAX/MSP and Pluggo. Check here for the free runtime version of Pluggo.
laut & leise - some very slick-looking
pluggos, as well as utility programs for OS9. You may also want to check
out "The List of VST Plug-Ins"
run by the same person.
DestroyFX - if
you haven't yet, go.
Tom Erbe's list of
Freeware - links to a bunch of freeware; some are kind of crap, others
are kind of incredible. Updates are infrequent, if ever.
Music And Computers
- an in-progress web text that deals with a lot of DSP theory.
em411
- electronic music forums & files. Some interesting discussions and
lots of patches for Reaktor etc. - mostly PC but some Mac users around.
