Sridevi's Accolades
NOMINATED in 1984: Filmfare's Best Actress Award for the movie Sadma. |
WINNER in 1984: National Award for MOONDRAM PIRAI (dubbed into SADMA). Sadma is a very good movie. Sridevi plays the role of a young lady who forgets her past. She gives a memorable performance as a girl trapped in a woman's body. Eventually Sridevi's character remembers her past, but only after someone has fallen in love with her. The movie ends on a sad note. |
WINNER in 1984: Filmfare's Best Actress Award for the movie Mundam Kokila with Kamal Hassan. It may have been awarded in the early 80's. |
NOMINATED in 1990: Filmfare's Best Actress Award for the movie Chandni. If Filmfare could have given two Best Actress Awards, it certainly would have given them to Sridevi for both Chandni and Chaalbaaz. Too bad the movies were released the same year. This meant Sridevi was going agianst herself (which is not bad). Though Chandni is one of Sridevi's best movies, it did not earn Sridevi the best actress award. Chandni is a serious story of a love triangle. Again, a good performance by Sridevi. |
WINNER in 1990: Filmfare's Best Actress Award for the movie Chaalbaaz. This is Sridevi's "Seeta Aur Geeta" movie. Sridevi handles the double role with ease. Convincingly, she delineates the two different characters she plays. A very good performance. |
WINNER in 1991: Filmfare's Best Actress Award for the movie Kshana Kshanam. |
WINNER in 1991: National Award for Kashana Kshanam (dubbed into HAIRAAN). I have not seen either of the movies, but if you have let me know what you liked best about these movies. |
WINNER in 1991: International Film Academy's Best Actress Award for LAMHE. Submitted into International Film Academy, Best Picture Cannes Film Festival, Best Actress Sridevi, NY Film Critics Best International Performance Sridevi. |
WINNER in 1992: Filmfare's Best Actress Award for the movie Lamhe. This is by far the most popular Sridevi movie. Everyone has heard of Lamhe. Indeed, at great storyline. Sridevi does an excellent job of playing mother, and then daughter. Throughout the movie, Sridevi shows us her acting prowess. |
NOMINATED in 1993: Filmfare's Best Actress Award for the movie Khuda Gawah. A very good movie opposite Amitabh Bachchan. Again, Sridevi gave a wonderful performance as mother, and then daughter. |
NOMINATED in 1994: Filmfare's Best Actress Award for the movie Gumrah. This is one of my all-time favorite movies. This movie is amazingly good. Sridevi's emotions throughout the movie keep you on the edge of your seat. Sridevi's performance did deserve the Filmfare Award. Simply put: an amazing performance. |
NOMINATED in 1995: Filmfare's Best Actress Award for the movie Laadla. Again, this is one of my all time favorite movies. Sridevi's negative role in the film was worthy of the Filmfare Award. Simply put: a must see ! |
NOMINATED in 1998: Filmfare's Best Actress Award for the movie Judaai. A mind-blowing comedy-drama. Again, Sridevi plays a negative role in this film. One of her most memorable movies ever. Simply put: you cannot miss this one. |
NOMINATED in 1998: National Award for Deva Raagam (see Sridevi's image above in purple dress). It needs to be mentioned that had Filmfare awards been presented in the years '84 and '86, Sridevi would have had two more awards in her mantle for Tohfa and Nagina (superlative performances by stunning Sri!). |
WINNER in 1998: Best Actress Award from Toronto Film Festival for DEVARAAGAM. |
