Full name: Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson So technically Mel Gibson is old enough to be my dad, but do you see that stopping me? I think not, but alas he is married and with seven children too (Hannah, twins Edward and Christian, William, Louis, Milo and Tommy). Although he was not born in Australia, our country has "adopted" him as our own since he moved to Sydney (damn, why not Melbourne?) when he was 12. Apparently, when not working, Mel lives on a ranch in Australia...someplace I have not yet found out but I'm coming Mel!!! I'm coming! Hehehe. Gibson studied at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney and has had a career spanning over 27 years. He made his first appearance in a movie during his 2nd year at NIDA, in a small Australian Film called Summer City in 1977 for which he was paid $20, but it was his role in Mad Max (1979) that earned him instant recognition. During his career, Mel Gibson has been nominated and has won numerous awards for his work both as an actor and a director. This includes an AFIA for Best Actor for both Tim (1979) and Gallipoli (1981) and of course, an Oscar for Best Director in Braveheart (1995). I guess you could say this is not the most comprehensive of biographies but if you're looking for one I highly suggest MelGibson.com. All I know for sure is that I like Mel Gibson. |
