BLOOMFIELD YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE

PLAYERS CONDUCT RULES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. No fighting will be allowed before , or after a game or practice.
  2. Swearing or abusive language will not be allowed at any time.
  3. Smoking , drinking of alcoholic beverages , or illegal drug use will not be permitted.
  4. Players who wear glasses must have safety lenses and a protective band to fasten glasses in place.
  5. Players must wear uniforms provided by the League for games. Sweat pants cannot be worn in games.
  6. No jewelry can be worn in games or practices.
  7. Display good sportsmanship at all times.
  8. Respect your coaches and game officials at all times.
  9. Players must shake hands with the opposing team at the end of each game.
  10. Uniforms are not to be altered and are not to be written upon.

** ANY VIOLATION OF RULES NO.# 1 , 2 , 3 , 10 ABOVE CAN LEAD TO TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT SUSPENSION FROM THE LEAGUE BY LEAGUE COMMISSIONER OR BYBL BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

BECOMING A MODEL SPORTS PARENT

Whether you fit the description of a "pushy parent" or not, consider the following traits of

a model youth sports parent:

IIII thinks of the playing field as a classroom and respects it;

IIII makes only positive, encouraging comments to the players on both teams;

IIII remembers that making mistakes is part of the learning process; doesn't criticize;

IIII discusses any concerns away from the players and, in particular, away from his child;

IIII respects the officials;

IIII focuses on fun and participation rather than winning and losing;

IIII asks his child if he had fun, and why or why not;

IIII controls her emotions;

IIII gets interested in his child's sport;

IIII learns the rules of his child's sport;

IIII makes every effort to get his child to practice on time;

IIII reinforces the coach's instructions when practicing with his child at home;

IIII knows that positive reinforcement is the key to improvement;

IIII doesn't undermine team morale;

IIII lets the coach know if his child will be missing a practice or game;

IIII picks his child up promptly after practices and games;

IIII refrains from tobacco or alcohol use at all youth sports events;

IIII participates in team activities.
