RE: Tournament Information

We look forward to your participation in the PreSeason Classic, June 4-6 at the Oregon Parks and Recreation complex. Directions to the complex, and detailed rules and information are included with this information. Forty-eight teams are registered for this tournament. Please take note of your first game on Friday or Saturday and plan to check in at tournament headquarters at least 30 minutes before game time.

Tournament on BCSN all-sports cable television

I am pleased to announce that several games will be televised by Buckeye CableSystem on the Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN). It is important that you submit your team roster with uniform numbers, birthdates, and school prior to the tournament. See below. One of your games may be selected, so make sure your roster is in my hands by the deadline!

Roster: Your official roster will be due Wednesday, June 2 by email (mctooman @accesstoledo.com) or fax (419-535-9799). FOR THIS TOURNAMENT, A PLAYER IS ELIGIBLE TO PLAY IN THEIR AGE DIVISION ACCORDING TO THEIR AGE AT 12:01 a.m. JANUARY 1, 2004. Proof of age may be required. Photocopies of birth certificates are acceptable.

Rules: All play will be governed by the Official Rules of Softball and ASA Code as published by the Amateur Softball Association with the following exceptions - high school pitching and substitution rules will be in effect. (This includes courtesy runner for pitchers/catchers, and DH.) Use of the EP also will be optional. Games that are tied after the regulation number of innings are played will be broken using the International tiebreaker format. Run Rules: 15 after 3, 8 after 5.

Time Limit: There will be an 80-minute time limit for each pool game and a 90 limit for championship round games. Game time begins immediately following the pregame conference. No new inning will start after 80 minutes have elapsed. Innings that have started when the time limit has been reached will be completed. There will be a 5-minute grace period. Teams not present for the start of their game will forfeit. Games will begin immediately upon conclusion of the previous game if the schedule on that diamond is on time or running behind. There will be no pre-game warm-up period. Because of the full game schedule, it is important to keep the tournament moving. Your cooperation and promptness will be appreciated.

Each team must be registered with ASA for this sanctioned tournament. You may register on site for $15.

Tournament operation: Decisions and judgments regarding the operation of the tournament will be made by the tournament director -- Mark Tooman. Decisions and judgments on the field of play will be made by the ASA-sanctioned umpires.

Admission Fee: There will be a $5 daily admission fee charged for adults and students. Children under 6 are free. A daily family pass will be $17 (immediate family only.) An all-tournament pass will also be available for $9 per person, or $30 for an all-tournament family pass (immediate family only.) Tickets will be good for all games and for re-admission to the complex. You are provided three all-tournament coach’s passes for coaches and bench personnel. No other complimentary passes will be provided.

Inclement Weather: The tournament director will rule on delays or postponements in the case of inclement weather. The tournament's general policy regarding weather delays or postponements is as follows: If a game is delayed by inclement weather by more than 15 minutes past its scheduled starting time, the tournament director may rule to cancel the game entirely, or to adjust the tournament schedule by shortening the games or adjusting the time schedule to enable games to be played.

Rain Refund Policy: If 3 of the 4 games are played, no refund; 2 games played -- $50 refund; 1 game played -- $100 refund; no games played -- $125 refund.

Tournament Hot Line: On Saturday and Sunday only, tournament information regarding weather delays and postponements will be available by calling 419-698-7032. Tournament director mobile phone number: 419-360-0702.

Pool Play Format & Championship:

The top two teams in each pool will advance to the single elimination championship round on Sunday. Teams in four-team pools will play a cross-over game. However, only your three in-pool games will count toward your pool record and will determine who advances. In the case of ties, advancing teams will be determined first on head-to-head results, and then on the fewest runs scored against in pool games, and then most runs scored in pool games.

Report Your Scores: You will receive score sheets at the time of check-in. Turn in completed score sheets to tournament headquarters immediately following each game -- win or lose.
