The Genies U11 team picked up right where they left off last season, capturing the championship at the 2004 Holiday Hoopla tournament hosted by the Arizona Sting January 2-4 in Tempe. The Genies completed the 2003 season with a first place finish in the Las Vegas Spectacular and wasted no time in re-establishing themselves as a team to beat again in 2004 by defeating the Arizona Thunder 10s, 30-16 in the championship contest. The Genies compiled a 3-1 record in the tournament with each of their victories coming by double-digit margins. The girls bounced back nicely in the championship game by downing the Thunder team that had rallied from a ten-point deficit to upset the Genies by two in an earlier contest. For the tournament the Genies were led in scoring by Cara Bomar and Ashton Jones with 28 points each, followed by Tara Rickenbach (26), Kelsi Haugo (24), Amber Tialino (13), Cecilia Yocham (9), Alexis Odle (7) and Alyssa Heeman (2). Cara also led the team in rebounding with 30, followed by Ashton (23), Tara (13), Amber (11), Cecilia and Alyssa (7 each), and Alexis (6). The Genies U10 team also saw their first competitive tournament action of 2004 and acquitted themselves well against the Arizona Elite 10s, dropping a hard-fought 17-11 decision in the first round. Later the 10s fell to the much older and bigger Arizona Sting 11s by scores of 49-6 and 28-6. For the tournament the Genies were led in scoring by Natalie Markovich with 9 points, followed by Elysia Mesa (8), Candice Bomar (3), Ashlin Palmer (2) and Shadora White (1). Following the tournament Ashton and Natalie were named to the all-tournament team.
