The Genies 14U team finished in third place in the combined 14U/15U division of the AAU Super Regional held June 2-3 in Tucson. The Genies started things off with a couple of big wins on Saturday. First, they jumped to a 20-point halftime lead and went on to defeat the Arizona Cobraz by the count of 52-19. Cara Bomar scored 14 points, and Christine Stevenson and Kelsi Haugo each added 11 to lead the Genies. Later that same day the Genies ran past the Gallup, NM-based Navajo Nation team by the score of 67-31 as Cortnee Walton posted 16 points, Stevenson 11, and Haugo and Ashton Jones 10. On Sunday the Genies dropped a 66-41 decision to the Arizona Premier with Walton scoring nine points. Then, in the semifinals against the Phoenix Phenoms and with a chance to earn a rematch with the Premier, the Genies found themselves on the short-end of several late game official’s calls, the last of which was a game-deciding no-call as the Phenoms scored the winning basket at the buzzer of a 49-47 contest. Bomar and Jones each tallied nine points and Jones also collected 11 rebounds to lead the Genies. For the four-game tournament the Genies were led by Walton with 38 points. She was followed by Stevenson (36), Bomar (34), Jones (31), Haugo (27), Shana Davis (17), Amberlee Tialino (15) and Tara Rickenbach (7). The Genies 2007 overall record now stands at 23-11.
