The Gilbert Genies are a very competitive, traveling non-profit club team that competes throughout the state of Arizona and the southwest. The team is composed of 8th -10th grade girls from Gilbert and the surrounding Phoenix metropolitan area, and competes in the 15U division of all Arizona AAU sanctioned basketball tournaments. The team captured Arizona AAU state titles in both 2004 and 2005. The Genies also won the AAU Division II Western Nationals championship in 2005. The club is coached by Steve Bomar and Craig Haugo. Each season the Genies practice to improve their basketball skills and develop friendships that extend beyond the basketball court. Genies basketball players successfully compete at the highest level and against the top competition in the country.
